She has been living in our wood store for the last few weeks and for the last two we have been leaving food out. We put details up on local facebook pages, leaflet dropped and put posters up in local shop etc. No-one came forward so I took her to local vet and had her scanned for a chip. Nothing there and the vet told me she has a cigarette burn on her neck Angry

she is beautiful, friendly and sweet- a fluffy tabby with the foxiest brush of a tail. Vet reckons she is around eight months old

we cannot keep her as our boy is an only cat and detests all other cats. He will go walkabout if she stays as he's done that to previous owners. She is very sweet with him and is well socialised

I live just outside Durham- please pm me if you can help

thank you

And I bet Sherlock was very happy last night too :)

sm40 · 27/11/2017 08:31

De lurking too, to say this story almost made me cry last night! You'll have to have a life of Heidi thread!
Someone mentioned about being spayed. We inherited a lovely stray. The vet said he couldn't tell if she had been spayed. Only if she had kittens! 8 years later no kittens, so must have been!
Enjoy Heidi. My stray also has a thing for being my pillow, and my ds's!

He was indeed
Tum full of prawns, fire stoked up for him and no annoying little pipsqueak nicking his grub Grin

Ah!! A fabulously happy ending!! Please have a Life of Heidi thread!

hotwater · 27/11/2017 09:19

Absolutely delighted to have clicked on this thread this morning- what a lovely story and I can't wait to hear about more of Heidi's adventures.

Happy new cat Mummy Stewpot, happy new home Heidi and a huge well done to Auntie Gatekeeper for turning this wee one's life around.

GlitteryFluff · 27/11/2017 09:38

Ahhh this thread is so lovely.Smile

butterfly56 · 27/11/2017 09:45

What a gorgeous cat!
Read the whole thread this morning...what lovely uplifting story and a wonderful job done by Gatekeeper and Mr and Mrs StewPots Smile

StewPots · 27/11/2017 09:54

She's explored everywhere, we are just letting her do her own thing really but she checks in with us very regularly and is mewling away. Has been very nosy out the window and has checked out the kitchen :)

Just a very settled cat already. She is currently sitting on the dining room chairs :)

StewPots · 27/11/2017 09:56

I promise to get more photos later but at the moment it's trying to keep an eye on her, get housework done an stop DS from trying to follow her everywhere :)

Want2beme · 27/11/2017 09:57

Gatekeeper I can feel his relief from here! As lovely as Heidi is, it's always a relief when little visitors leave.

TheSassyAssassin · 27/11/2017 10:19

Awww...lovely thread. Well done @StewPots and @Gatekeeper and happy forever home little Heidi! Bet she's going to have great fun scaling the Christmas tree soon! Wink

StewPots · 27/11/2017 10:24

Yeah the various cats/dogs/kids I've had have never bothered about the Christmas tree but already I know this little kitty is Very different!! She's a climber alright, and a brilliant one by the looks of it, and she's also nosy so a tree covered in bits and bobs will be hard to resist!! GrinI won't put my usual effort in to decorations this yearGrin

StewPots · 27/11/2017 10:26

I'm just so pleased she's here. The amazing @Gatekeeper did a fab job to rescue her and keep her safe, and well done Sherlock for tolerating her as much as he did! But this cat was meant to be here, and it's proven this morning by the way she is exploring and settling in so quickly! I was convinced after the journey yesterday she would be pissed off at us or very scared or something but nope! MIL said this morning after seeing the pics it's like she's been here forever :)

TheSassyAssassin · 27/11/2017 10:36

I rescued a 13 wk old kitten from someone who needed to get rid as other cats wouldn't tolerate her. She's 2 now. Anyway was used to my placid older girl (who passed away and is still much missed) who never bothered, so was somewhat bemused last Christmas (her first one with me), to come down one morning and find sassycat practically sat on the star at the top! Grin Have also learnt to not worry about the decorations now! You know you can buy cat stockings filled with toys and treats for Christmas don't you? Just sayin' Wink

StewPots · 27/11/2017 10:52

@TheSassyAssassin Grinnone of our cats ever really bothered, and dear Harry wasn't fussed, we did however have to keep it out of his general path as he was a bull in a china shop at the best of times. Not once in 13 years did he manage to topple the tree GrinI have a feeling with Heidi that I might not get away with it!

She still hasn't really slept much, but I guess there's a lot of scents to sniff and things to look at including the cats outside and birds and occasional squirrel in the trees outside the house!

StewPots · 27/11/2017 10:53

And yes, Christmas stocking planned. And I just know the ILs will be up for bringing her spoils too :) she will be a very much fussed over kitty :)

flutterby12 · 27/11/2017 11:06

@StewPots Your inlaws sound lovely ❤️

StewPots · 27/11/2017 11:29

@flutterby12 I know bless them, if they didn't have their two girls already, Heidi would be living with them instead so I know they will bring her lots of goodies when they come to visit in the next few weeks :)

thecatneuterer · 27/11/2017 11:57

This is indeed a lovely tale. Just repeating what posters have said above about spaying. The chances of an abused and abandoned very young cat having already been spayed are miniscule. Stewpots - you will need to get her booked in to be done as soon as you can. But then I'm sure you're planning to do that anyway. Along with vaccines and chip.

She's been a very lucky girl.

StewPots · 27/11/2017 12:06

@thecatneuterer absolutely. I doubt it too, so yes she is getting booked in ASAP, for the full works.

BulletFox · 27/11/2017 12:07

Life of Heidi :)

We need regular pics!

Weedsnseeds1 · 27/11/2017 12:20

She's a confident little thing isn't she? Amazing how quickly she's settling in, especially after that long car journey!

TheSassyAssassin · 27/11/2017 12:20

One of her sat in the Christmas tree for definite Grin🌲

StewPots · 27/11/2017 12:33

@Weedsnseeds1 I know! I'm utterly shocked! Can you upload videos to MN?

overnightangel · 27/11/2017 12:40

I think it’s very generous of Heidi to allow @StewPots and her family to continue to live in her new house
