I LOVE your hedgehog, but it looks like a water rat to me - perhaps go for a Wind in the Willows theme? (Looksdelicious, and now I have the urge to make one - alas, I have many urges but little talent . . . )

Either over-eggy, or could one (or more) of the eggs have maybe been edging towards mankdom? Could you not just make JollyHog The Second a nice simple normal-egg-ratio sponge? Well, obviously sculpted!sponges-held-together-by-deliciousness-of-choice. But that's presumably what you did with the Goliath!hog, unless you have a ginormous cake tin? Or did you in fact use a tin bath or similar? That would account for the peculiar taste. (Re: fitting tin bath into oven, people are always talking about having huge ovens &/or agas/ranges. Can't expect a [deprived] Inner London Child to know better...
