I slept with my best friend last night

and now I have no idea what to do Blush

We haven't spoke to each other since last night as we've both been working today but I'm not sure if I should contact him first or should I wait for him to contact me?

I don't know what he thinks about it and whether he thinks it meant something or it was just a casual one night stand. I'm not even sure I know tbh Blush

Should I mention this to him or just forget it ever happened and continue on as normal?

sprinklesofweirdness · 25/10/2016 19:35

hope all goes well OP!

Doublemint · 25/10/2016 19:35

Joining in the "has he replied?!" Chorus.

Also please tell me you sent the "so are we engaged now?" Text!

Starlight2345 · 25/10/2016 19:36

Shameless place marking...This could be a lovely love story.

Olympiathequeen · 25/10/2016 19:38

Just goes to prove the difficulty of sustaining platonic friendship Grin

Just discuss it with him.. You need to know where you both stand and how you feel about each other.

Fwiw feeling true friendship is a better foundation for a relationship than just sexual attraction, and now that you have both, I hope it's the start of something beautiful Grin

Mirandawest · 25/10/2016 19:39

Hoping it all works out Smile

DoctorTwo · 25/10/2016 19:39

How about something cute like texting hey, need to tell my best friend about something that happened last night - you around later to catch up?

Perfect. I wish I'd done something like this after my then best friend and I first slept together. We were FWBs for a while after. But I regret my cowardice in not opening up to her how much I liked her
and would love to be part of her life. We lost touch after she met her now h.

DorotheaHomeAlone · 25/10/2016 19:40

Love the chorus of posters suggesting you send him a light-hearted message. Hard to play it cool and breezy while dozens of MNetters eagerly await his reply. Grin

Flyingfruit · 25/10/2016 19:41

Shameless placemark

DamePastel · 25/10/2016 19:41

Just be honest about what you want!

No shame in it.

I'd a similar situation except he wanted to stay friends and didn't see why sex would damage a good friendship. Hmm. So I walked away. But I didn't feel bad for being honest. I felt like, well, I know why I've spent months, hours, days in your company, because I really liked you... what the hell were you doing?? Confused I didn't feel foolish for being honest even though he didn't want me as a gf.

wornoutboots · 25/10/2016 19:41

I'm married to my best friend too.

Hope it's all being sorted into a new reality for you, OP

ninnypoo · 25/10/2016 19:42

Another shameless place mark, I am going to live vicariously through your romance...

DorotheaHomeAlone · 25/10/2016 19:42

I slept with a close friend on a trip away together and we've been together 12 years now and are married with kids. Seems like a common story.

Konyaa · 25/10/2016 19:42

AHintOfStyle · 25/10/2016 19:50

Tell him to hurry up & answer...but maybe don't tell him about the 100's of mumsnetters waiting for his reply 😀

TiltedNewt · 25/10/2016 19:51

I slept with my best friend. Then we didn't speak for 3 months because it was awkward. Been together 8 years now 😀

MollyHopps · 25/10/2016 19:54

OP please come back and tell, I am too invested in this thread now to cope with no answer!

TownMouseCuntMouse · 25/10/2016 19:56

Ahhh another one here who shagged her best friend...12 years, 4 years of marriage and 2 kids later and he's still my best friend. Good move, OP.
