I slept with my best friend last night

and now I have no idea what to do Blush

We haven't spoke to each other since last night as we've both been working today but I'm not sure if I should contact him first or should I wait for him to contact me?

I don't know what he thinks about it and whether he thinks it meant something or it was just a casual one night stand. I'm not even sure I know tbh Blush

Should I mention this to him or just forget it ever happened and continue on as normal?

Was alcohol involved?

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 25/10/2016 18:30

Being best friends is the best basis for a relationship. It could be awkward if you don't want that though?

Whoever said "So the spark was there?" is a comic genius Grin.

ImperialBlether · 25/10/2016 18:33

Yes, send him a text - "Round or square?" and when he says, "What?" say "The wedding cake, of course!"

Mrsmadevans · 25/10/2016 18:33

Tell him the truth don't hide it I think he may feel the same and if he doesnt you surely cannot stay friends now ? AWKS!

LIttleTripToHeaven · 25/10/2016 18:34

Don't play, don't text him, let him chase you games. Presumably you're both adults.

If it were me, I think I'd text something like, "Hey you. So... didn't see that one coming. Probably need to clear the air about it. or something. You up for a drink/chat later?"

Because, unless he's a complete dick, he'll be having similar thoughts to you. He'll be wondering how to broach it with you and whether you're regretting it etc.

That's what I'd do.

Disclaimer: but I am single and shit at relationships so you might not want to listen to me...

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 25/10/2016 18:35

Go with Imperial's engaged message. It's funny and it leaves it open for him to say he wants more if he does.

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/10/2016 18:35

How did you end up in bed?

Unless shagged outside by a tree /sofa etc 😂

Was there lots of booze? Were you bith sober?

FourToTheFloor · 25/10/2016 18:40

Following for the love story. Not helpful I know Grin

PandoraMole · 25/10/2016 18:50

I think LittleTripToHeaven hits the right note with her suggestion, although I'm newly separated and haven't dated or slept with someone new for over 20 years so possibly not the best placed to advise either!

Sounds promising though... Wink

HelloCanYouHearMe · 25/10/2016 18:51

Just drop him a line OP and ask the question

You'll never know otherwise

Life is far too short

How about something cute like texting hey, need to tell my best friend about something that happened last night - you around later to catch up?

Hope it works out how you want.

ApocalypseNowt · 25/10/2016 18:57

Don't text him. Let him chase you

^please don't do this.

How did it happen OP? We need details. Lots of lovely details.

SavageBeauty73 · 25/10/2016 18:57

Text or call him!

I'm dating my best friend. Early days but it's so much fun. The only problem is he knows me REALLY REALLY well so I can't bullshit,

AVirginLitTheCandle · 25/10/2016 18:58

We weren't drunk, no. Well perhaps I was a bit tipsy and giggly after my one glass of wine (complete lightweight Blush) but I certainly wasn't out of it and he wasn't drunk either.

He did say that he'd been waiting for this for a long time but still not sure if he just meant waiting for a long time just to shag me.

Off to text him now.

Another vote for one of Imperial's ideas. I think what LittleTripToHeaven suggested sounds quite negative somehow and might make him think you regret spending the night with him.

pourmeanotherdrink · 25/10/2016 19:00

I really like what Jmangel wrote as well!

MaGratgarlik1983 · 25/10/2016 19:02

Ooh good luck sounds so exciting! I married my best friend a few years after a similar situation - best thing ever!

donajimena · 25/10/2016 19:03

Oh my goodness I'm biting my nails. Well done on texting!

queenc81 · 25/10/2016 19:03

Ohh good luck op X

Dickorydockwhatthe · 25/10/2016 19:05

How long have you been best friends??? Being best friends is the best basis for a relationship however sometimes you don't always see them that way normally because you don't fancy them. So do you fancy him or see him in that way??

NapQueen · 25/10/2016 19:05

I'd just send him "Well that was new"

SheWhoDaresGins2 · 25/10/2016 19:05

Good luck 🍀

ajandjjmum · 25/10/2016 19:07

Good luck OP.

wobblywonderwoman · 25/10/2016 19:08

He said he was waiting for a long time...

He really likes you - ah this is great !
