I'm getting sick and tired of dinosaurs being forced on our children

I'm really concerned about dinosaurs, and I think something needs to be done. The science behind them is pretty flimsy, and I for one do not want my children being taught lies. Did you know that nobody had even heard of dinosaurs before the 1800s, when they were invented by curio-hungry Victorians?

Charles Darwin's later theory of evolution entirely disproved dinosaurs, yet the dinosaur lie was twisted and adapted to try to make it fit. Any proper look at the facts will reveal that dinosaurs simply never existed.

Aside from the educational aspect, dinosaurs are a very bad example for children. At my children's school, several children were left in tears after one of their classmates (who had evidently been exposed to dinosaurs), became bestially-minded and ran around the classroom roaring and pretending to be a dinosaur. Then he bit three children on the face. One poor girl has been left with a severely dented nose and the whole class was left traumatised by this horrible display.

Nothing about dinosaurs is suitable for children, from their total lack of family values through to their non-existence from any serious scientific point of view.

Recently my sister foolishly gave my two youngest some dinosaurs toys for Christmas. After telling her to get out of my house I burnt the dinosaurs. My children were delighted because they know that dinosaurs are evil. I am fortunate that my family has been very supportive, and has disowned my children's former aunt.

Please, do what you can to get dinosaurs taken off the curriculum. Our school has been recently presented with a 214-signature petition, and following that and our recent protest the headmaster has said that he will take it the governors. We are lucky that he is so sympathetic to our cause, but I fear that others may not be.

If you would like to lend your support to our campaign, we have a Facebook group where we spread facts and research about the dinosaur myth. Hope to see you there! :-)

And this is why I love Mumsnet!

Sunnysideup5883 · 06/02/2015 20:30

Some Evangelical Christians do believe fossils were planted on earth by satan.

So what is your faith OP? Come clean

Hedgehogging · 06/02/2015 20:30

Blended there's a Jurassic Park 4 now I think. I love Jurassic Park. (Still get raptor nightmares 20 years on though).

SaggyAndLucy · 06/02/2015 20:30

OP are you missing a sock and some buttons?Hmm

NimpyWWindowmash · 06/02/2015 20:31

I like hearing different opinions, it gives me something to think about.

Go on OP, explain a bit more

TerryTheGreenHorse · 06/02/2015 20:31

My theory is that if I was satan and wanted to do some evil things, making and hiding pretend bones would be low down on my list.

catzpyjamas · 06/02/2015 20:31

Dognado I think you're thinking of aliens which are obviously also a bad influence on small children since they steal clean washing.

fattymcfatfat · 06/02/2015 20:32

blended there was a two and three to jp! to be fair both sequels were a bit shit Grin
baddz I dont think he would either Sad

TerryTheGreenHorse · 06/02/2015 20:32

DS has a book called "the dinosaur that pooped christmas"

Oh dear.

psychomum5 · 06/02/2015 20:32

And poor poor George Pig, with his Raagh - he will be bereft to know he carries about a fictional creature.

Bolshybookworm · 06/02/2015 20:33

Whoever the OP is, they're not an evangelical Christian. They tend to think all mythical creatures (inc. elves and fairies) are evil. I got in serious shit as a kid for liking fairies.

I thought the OP was my Gran up until that point Grin
Was a bit shocked that she'd joined mumsnet, what with her thinking that computers are the devils work and everything.

The saddest dinosaur ever:

I give you the Brontosaurus which went extinct not once but twice. It went extinct first in pre-history and then went extinct again in modern times when it was found to have never been as it was in fact the Apatosaurus.

(sorry, I have been waiting a long time to share that fact)

Hedgehogging · 06/02/2015 20:34

Bit late to the thread but MrsC's Grin

5madthings · 06/02/2015 20:34

When I had post Natal psychosis after having madthing4 I hallucinated and saw dinosaurs, just little ones. They were very sweet, I tried to stroke them. They seemed very friendly.. I almost miss them, but quite like having my sanity.

And one of our dinosaurs is missing is one of my fave childhood films.

Irrelevant post.

Bolshybookworm · 06/02/2015 20:34

I can't read the dinosaurs/underpants book as a biologist, it's all wrong!

springlamb · 06/02/2015 20:34

Fucking claptrap.
There are at least 12 films in The Land Before Time series.
You can't make 12 films based on something that isn't true. Yeah, you can get away with 3 Toy Stories, but 12 films, that needs a proper foundation in fact.

tigermoth · 06/02/2015 20:34

CAD so your whole family has disowned your sister for giving your children toy dinosaurs? Is this really true?

If so, how can she earn your forgiveness?

Wow, so many judgmental, closed minded mums in here. Apparently we are no longer allowed to voice our opinions without the risk of being harassed. Teaching children that dinosaurs are real is blatant psychological child abuse.

Dr. Carla

myotherusernameisbetter · 06/02/2015 20:35

Strangely enough I don't believe there has ever been a war caused by believers of T-Rexs declaring that their Dinosaur is better than the dinosuar of choice of believers of Velociraptors.

So, in that case I will continue to believe in the "shaky" Hmm science around dinosaurs rather than the piled of boiled shit that religious nutcases continue to peddle.

I've also never had some dinosaur nut turn up on my doorstep peddling his own special brand of nonsense whereas religious nutters turn up by the bucketload and also seem to want to convert my children.
