I'm getting sick and tired of dinosaurs being forced on our children

CADministry · 06/02/2015 19:48

I'm really concerned about dinosaurs, and I think something needs to be done. The science behind them is pretty flimsy, and I for one do not want my children being taught lies. Did you know that nobody had even heard of dinosaurs before the 1800s, when they were invented by curio-hungry Victorians?

Charles Darwin's later theory of evolution entirely disproved dinosaurs, yet the dinosaur lie was twisted and adapted to try to make it fit. Any proper look at the facts will reveal that dinosaurs simply never existed.

Aside from the educational aspect, dinosaurs are a very bad example for children. At my children's school, several children were left in tears after one of their classmates (who had evidently been exposed to dinosaurs), became bestially-minded and ran around the classroom roaring and pretending to be a dinosaur. Then he bit three children on the face. One poor girl has been left with a severely dented nose and the whole class was left traumatised by this horrible display.

Nothing about dinosaurs is suitable for children, from their total lack of family values through to their non-existence from any serious scientific point of view.

Recently my sister foolishly gave my two youngest some dinosaurs toys for Christmas. After telling her to get out of my house I burnt the dinosaurs. My children were delighted because they know that dinosaurs are evil. I am fortunate that my family has been very supportive, and has disowned my children's former aunt.

Please, do what you can to get dinosaurs taken off the curriculum. Our school has been recently presented with a 214-signature petition, and following that and our recent protest the headmaster has said that he will take it the governors. We are lucky that he is so sympathetic to our cause, but I fear that others may not be.

If you would like to lend your support to our campaign, we have a Facebook group where we spread facts and research about the dinosaur myth. Hope to see you there! :-)

I am an archaeologist. Admittedly it's not my area of expertise but I don't believe in dinosaurs.

I don't believe in Romans. I bet you just planted the evidence. I mean, look at all those stone white statutes. Really? They must be modern.

Lweji · 07/02/2015 10:54

Also, MNHQ, what have you done to the OP?
We need her to answer a few questions.

Did you bury her/him?
Will it be possible to dig her/him out sometime? Or will we have to wait 65 million years?

fattymcfatfat · 07/02/2015 11:03

lol bring back cad !

Hakluyt · 07/02/2015 11:06

So is the fact that the OP was banned proof that they whole dinosaur denier thing is a hoax? Because DS has just told me they were talking about it in RE last week,no it must be a pretty widespread hoax. And if it isn't a hoax, then why was the OP banned? If being as mad as cheese is a reason to be banned, most of us wouldn't be here!

MadameJulienBaptiste · 07/02/2015 11:07

Great thread for a lazy Saturday morning. Sadly I do not doubt the op is real and a 'committed creationist'.

OP - indoctrination is not the same as education.

squizita · 07/02/2015 11:14

These people exist. But the OP just seems a little inconsistent with the norm (norm with these odbods I mean) hence the ban?

MyVisionsComeFromSoup · 07/02/2015 11:15

so even assuming that Big Paleo is behind it all, how exactly do they get all this money? Presumably if I write a book about dinosaurs, I need to pay Big Paleo royalties or a licence fee or something? Where do I get their bank details to do that? And if I make a donation to the Natural History Museum, then Big Paleo gets a cut of that? I can't see that in their audited accounts anywhere. Do you not think maybe that if there was a big conspiracy, someone somewhere might have noticed the money trail at some point since the 1800s?

ipswichwitch · 07/02/2015 11:17

I can't get my head around the idea that you believe dinosaur bones were manufactured, somehow buried inside layers of rock and hidden in a huge variety of locations around the world, waiting for unsuspecting palaeontologists to wander along and dig them up. All to make some mysterious person lots of money (god knows who cos I never met a rich palaeontologist). Seriously, who could be bothered? And you don't think they'd come up with an easier get rich quick scheme?

There are way too many bones and fossils knocking about for it all to be faked. And I seriously doubt the Victorians had the sophisticated technology needed to make convincing fakes.

Why don't you have a beef with the Loch Ness monster or Bigfoot? The only evidence anyone seems to have produced for their existence is a couple of blurry photos and a very shaky video, yet you don't have an internet group for them?

MrTumblesBavarianFanbase · 07/02/2015 11:50

CAD can you explain whether dinosaurs disowned family members for giving their children presents? Is that why their shoddy family values make them evil? Also how you know what the family values of totally non existent beings were?

The first sentence of the OP sets it up as a spoof, but it's an elaborate one as the OP has buried so much evidence for us to dig up, in the form of fb groups.... Quite a conundrum.

There is a creationist museum in Cornwall somewhere I think, I once read an article about it. From the photos the exhibits looked rather homemade by 6 year olds , but perhaps that was meant to be ironic.

Karoleann · 07/02/2015 11:54

I think the Dr Carla Christianwalk2009 is one of those psychiatrists who try and "cure" gay people.

Just shows what sort of nutters support your view OP.

Do you honestly think that people buried these fossils in the ground and then dug them up again? Why?

I suspect your headmaster was humouring you, is also suspect that your proposal will inject a little fun into the next governors meeting.

MrTumblesBavarianFanbase · 07/02/2015 11:58

It's odd how the OP is happy to accommodate young earth creationism despite thinking it the "evidence" supporting that view is incorrect, yet objects specifically to dinosaurs on the basis of somehow convincing herself the evidence for them is incorrect. That and the spurious "family values" thing.

Either there is a huge amount of head in sand compartmentalization going on, or its a spoof... It is isn't it?

Either way thread worth a place in classics for laugh out loud quality, excellent pictorial content, and lists of Things That Are Not Dinosaurs. :o

sosix · 07/02/2015 12:37

Oh wouldn't it be lovely if there was no Barney? My friend gave ds a Barney cd of xmas songs. Hmm vair kind but I think I might of accidently on purpose um, losy t it as you do. It was either that or my sanity.

"Nothing about dinosaurs is suitable for children, from their total lack of family values through to their non-existence from any serious scientific point of view."

I'm sorry, CADMinistries, but you can't have it both ways. Something that does not exist cannot have any values, either good or bad.

Values are a human invention. We can attempt to attribute them to animals, but they do not have values, they have instincts. Some of those are ones we would admire - looking after one's young, working as a group, and others are not - as the story of the rare warty pig at Bristol Zoo demonstrates (he ate the whole litter of his mate's piglets, and then ate her too, starting at the bottom and working forwards.

The child who bit his classmates did not do so primarily because he had learned about dinosaurs. He did so possibly because he has behavioural problems, or because he has been poorly parented, or possibly because he was being bullied by the other children - but had he not ever heard of dinosaurs, he would still have acted out in the way that he did. Maybe he would have been a lion or a tiger, biting people, instead of a dinosaur. The roots of the behaviour would have been the same, and so would the effects.

Has the child actually stated that the only reason he bit the others was because of dinosaurs? I very much doubt it!

And re: adolescents stomping around the house, and your attempt to attribute that behaviour to learning about dinosaurs. Recent science has shown that the adolescent brain is changing and restructuring, and it is this that leads to their poor impulse control and lack of empathy - not whether they have learned about dinosaurs or not!

Hakluyt · 07/02/2015 13:06

My favourite!

BoreOfWhabylon · 07/02/2015 13:07

Dinosaur denialism is A Thing but am certain OP & her popsocks were just here for the lolz and don't believe it.

MNHQ may have swung the Banhammer as OP was a PBP, which is my current theory.

It's not academies where that occurs or normal faith schools ... its free schools.
But don't worry they soon get shut down after wasting millions that could have been used on a normal state school with qualified teachers...
