I'm getting sick and tired of dinosaurs being forced on our children

I'm really concerned about dinosaurs, and I think something needs to be done. The science behind them is pretty flimsy, and I for one do not want my children being taught lies. Did you know that nobody had even heard of dinosaurs before the 1800s, when they were invented by curio-hungry Victorians?

Charles Darwin's later theory of evolution entirely disproved dinosaurs, yet the dinosaur lie was twisted and adapted to try to make it fit. Any proper look at the facts will reveal that dinosaurs simply never existed.

Aside from the educational aspect, dinosaurs are a very bad example for children. At my children's school, several children were left in tears after one of their classmates (who had evidently been exposed to dinosaurs), became bestially-minded and ran around the classroom roaring and pretending to be a dinosaur. Then he bit three children on the face. One poor girl has been left with a severely dented nose and the whole class was left traumatised by this horrible display.

Nothing about dinosaurs is suitable for children, from their total lack of family values through to their non-existence from any serious scientific point of view.

Recently my sister foolishly gave my two youngest some dinosaurs toys for Christmas. After telling her to get out of my house I burnt the dinosaurs. My children were delighted because they know that dinosaurs are evil. I am fortunate that my family has been very supportive, and has disowned my children's former aunt.

Please, do what you can to get dinosaurs taken off the curriculum. Our school has been recently presented with a 214-signature petition, and following that and our recent protest the headmaster has said that he will take it the governors. We are lucky that he is so sympathetic to our cause, but I fear that others may not be.

If you would like to lend your support to our campaign, we have a Facebook group where we spread facts and research about the dinosaur myth. Hope to see you there! :-)

It's not a religion thing, though, it's a conspiracy theory thing: the OP has no problem with evolution, and isn't saying the earth's 6000 years old; she just doesn't believe dinosaurs existed.

Described in the usual conspiracy theory language about professionals covering it all up and only being in it for the money, and if you watch these youtube vids you'll understand THE FACTS.

Lweji · 07/02/2015 09:33

Yeah, next thing she'll be saying that dinosaurs faked the moon landing too.

But the OP may give credit to evolution after God created everything. You know in a small scale, like evolution of drug resistance. But not huge things that eventually disappear or become something else, like dinosaurs and birds.

If you are still around, btw, what is your stance on whales evolving from land mammals?

fattymcfatfat · 07/02/2015 09:34

yep all hilarious conspiracy theory bollocks!

fattymcfatfat · 07/02/2015 09:36

whales are dinosaurs too! Grin
and tut tut naughty dinosaurs faking the moon landing! how dare they?

TerryTheGreenHorse · 07/02/2015 09:37

MmeMorrible - it's easily explained, Satan did it.

PrincessPilolevuofTONGA · 07/02/2015 09:38

I am an archaeologist. Admittedly it's not my area of expertise but I don't believe in dinosaurs.

Princess - are you serious? I was an archaologist (no longer working in heritage sector though) and Im completely convinced of their existence......

momb · 07/02/2015 09:42

Are you my exFIL OP? He made a huge issue of saying that he'd never offer to take the kids to the NHM because of the poor science behind the theory of dinosaurs. Hmm I thought he was joking. It was a difficult patch in our relationship, me rolling on the floor cackling and him standing stoney faced.

Manyproblemsinthishouse · 07/02/2015 09:46

I read this late last night and had a dream about a dinosaur, your right op they are evil little bastards.

I'm getting sick and tired of dinosaurs being forced on our children
Manyproblemsinthishouse · 07/02/2015 09:48

OohLaLaa · 07/02/2015 09:51

MissAnnThrope no need to ask MNHQ to invite Randy Ruggles for a webchat - although he would love it - Randy is already a MNer!

Here is the first of the threads he posted on as BestValue a while ago

And, unlike the OP of this thread, who is clearly on a massive and v funny pisstake, Randy believes it all.

He also has a facebook page where you can chat with him, if you can bear to.

squizita · 07/02/2015 10:02

Oohlala Check amazon kindle if 50 Shades of Dino is your thing. The reviews of the erotic dino stories are hilarious!

Dinosaurporn · 07/02/2015 10:07

Ooh it's real.

shadowfax07 · 07/02/2015 10:14

Reading that CAD Facebook group is like being in a parallel universe, it's truly bizarre.

IamGrimalkin · 07/02/2015 10:17

Now I have the Dorothy the Dinosaur song stuck in my head!

OohLaLaa · 07/02/2015 10:22

I shall give them a read Squizita.

DISCLAIMER: Should I ever be outed, dino porn is NOT my thing. I read about it in the guardian.

Honest guv. (I really did!)

OublietteBravo · 07/02/2015 10:27

So pictures of dinosaurs and humans together are supposed to prove that they co-existed?!

So according to this argument, in several thousand years time the Flintstones will be considered proof that dinosaurs and humans co-existed...

Alb1 · 07/02/2015 10:38

Going to write this like I assume your post is real... Cos it sounds absolutly insane! Like dinosaurs are the only animal that have been shown to stomp around, make noises and bite things??

OP saying that 'dinosaurs don't exist' is a scientific fact is a blatant lie, scientific fact is that they did exist, wether you believe that theyv made it up or not, the facts produced by science show evidence and research that they did exist. Also you quoted Wikipedia as part of your evidence, you realise anybody can write whatever random crap they want on there right? They taught us in school that you can't reliably quote Wikipedia. An alligator is not a dinosaur but over long periods of time is descended from one, that's how evolution works, it's really random that you guys have picked one random group of extinct creatures from all of history and decided there's a conspiracy about them.

As for your children, there are much bigger threats to them in this world than dinosaurs, in my opinion there parent burning their presents and showing them this gives a far more negative imagine than dinosaurs, it's crazy and inappropriate! If someone gave my child a stupid or offensive present I'd just throw it away like a normal person.

YoullShootYourEyeOut · 07/02/2015 10:44

OP, I am not a Christian, I was referring to the fact that you are. Even if God is in another dimension, he supposedly made his son human in order to 'save' humanity, so there should be concrete physical evidence. I won't deny God exists because I am not arrogant enough to say that I know that for certain, you, on the other hand are arrogant enough to refute the scientific evidence for dinosaurs despite the fact that it is overwhelming.

And why would dinosaurs encourage children to be violent? We are entirely different species. Are you going to worry about your children being influenced by lions, or gorillas, or hippos who are also very aggressive species. But the fact is, the most dangerous species in the world is Homo Sapiens, maybe your time would be better spent teaching your children not to try to supress and control people through one's religious beliefs. That is far more important than debating whether or not an extinct species of animal ever existed.

Lweji · 07/02/2015 10:48

So pictures of dinosaurs and humans together are supposed to prove that they co-existed?!

Yes, because you can fake dinosaur bones in the appropriate strata, but not cave paintings.
