I'm getting sick and tired of dinosaurs being forced on our children

CADministry · 06/02/2015 19:48

I'm really concerned about dinosaurs, and I think something needs to be done. The science behind them is pretty flimsy, and I for one do not want my children being taught lies. Did you know that nobody had even heard of dinosaurs before the 1800s, when they were invented by curio-hungry Victorians?

Charles Darwin's later theory of evolution entirely disproved dinosaurs, yet the dinosaur lie was twisted and adapted to try to make it fit. Any proper look at the facts will reveal that dinosaurs simply never existed.

Aside from the educational aspect, dinosaurs are a very bad example for children. At my children's school, several children were left in tears after one of their classmates (who had evidently been exposed to dinosaurs), became bestially-minded and ran around the classroom roaring and pretending to be a dinosaur. Then he bit three children on the face. One poor girl has been left with a severely dented nose and the whole class was left traumatised by this horrible display.

Nothing about dinosaurs is suitable for children, from their total lack of family values through to their non-existence from any serious scientific point of view.

Recently my sister foolishly gave my two youngest some dinosaurs toys for Christmas. After telling her to get out of my house I burnt the dinosaurs. My children were delighted because they know that dinosaurs are evil. I am fortunate that my family has been very supportive, and has disowned my children's former aunt.

Please, do what you can to get dinosaurs taken off the curriculum. Our school has been recently presented with a 214-signature petition, and following that and our recent protest the headmaster has said that he will take it the governors. We are lucky that he is so sympathetic to our cause, but I fear that others may not be.

If you would like to lend your support to our campaign, we have a Facebook group where we spread facts and research about the dinosaur myth. Hope to see you there! :-)

Please someone- is this real or not? I need to know!

ninetynineonehundred · 07/02/2015 08:08

haklyut it's clearly real because you're reading it. The real question should be 'is it promoting family values?'

DropYourSword · 07/02/2015 08:12

I don't think mumsnet is mentioned in the bible Hakluyt, so it probably doesn't exist and therefore this can't be real! Grin

squizita · 07/02/2015 08:15

Re family values..? As well as slurry butterflies my dd likes teddy bears.
I understand they shit in the woods and that this is as well known as the Pontiff's denomination.
Will this affect pfb's potty training?

TBH dinosaurs seem a safer bet morally. Especially the ones that just lumber around eating grass.

MisAnneThropy · 07/02/2015 08:21

Well, on the whole, I've found this to be an informative, well-balanced and educational debate.

I must say I am erring on the side of the dino-deniers but mainly because I never did like the look of Ross from Friends (evil palaeontologist).

Now, MNHQ, can we please have Randy Ruggles or God on for a web chat? That would clear the matter up.

DropYourSword · 07/02/2015 08:21

I think the bee and the praying mantis also has pretty questionable family values!

Ohwhatfuckeryisthis · 07/02/2015 08:30

Dh has just read op and called bs. (He takes all the fun out of things)

CrystalHaze · 07/02/2015 08:34

This NEEDS to be in 'Classics'

ChoudeBruxelles · 07/02/2015 08:44

I'm concerned about turtle. Those bastards bury their young and then fuck off. Appalling family values. Is ds allowed the learn about them?

fattymcfatfat · 07/02/2015 08:47

mme yep they believe the evil paleontologists made them out of papier mache then buried them for the lowly archaeologists to find Grin It is further up the thread, this was one of the first arguments (I was on here at the beginning and still find it hilarious)

I'm SO sorry sosix. I hope this is better! Just wanted to show people dinosaurs have family values too!

BoulevardOfBrokenSleep · 07/02/2015 08:54

ohwhatfuckery "Can I just give a quick thanks to the secularity of our education system that this type of bolleaux is not taught in schools?"

Actually, you have got that the wrong way round - the are no secular schools in the UK, and in the USA religion is forbidden in state schools so people like the OP tend to home educate.

As I read the OP, I must admit the thought, 'This'll be the next bloody faith academy' flashed through my head.

LaLaLaaaa · 07/02/2015 08:56

But the baby dinosaurs in The Land Before Time were searching for their families. Does that not prove they had family values?

There was a dinosaur skeleton found in my town, so they erected a statue of a dinosaur. I'd better tell them they're mistaken and to take it down right away in case children get the wrong idea.

Hoppinggreen · 07/02/2015 09:00

Dr Carla at 5am ( don't Christians sleep?)
" one of our members is making a list of things that aren't dinosaurs"
Could be a while!!!

Honeydragon · 07/02/2015 09:01

I AM NOT A DINOSAUR Angry

LetBartletBeBartlet · 07/02/2015 09:07

So many unanswered questions:

(1) what is the evidence that dinosaurs were invented before fossils were found?

(2) where is the cave art showing that man and dinosaur lived side by side?

(3) If the large size of some dinosaurs prompts disbelief, why do you not then have more faith that the smaller dinosaurs were real?

Onsera3 · 07/02/2015 09:07

I think the OP is dead serious. The CAD might stand for Christian or Creation and ministry has obv religious associations.

What about the people who run the Creation Museum in Kentucky? These good Christian folk have a dinosaur skeleton there and say man lived at the same time as dinosaurs.

(I saw this on the US 18 Kids and Counting when they went on an 'educational' trip).

GothicRainbow · 07/02/2015 09:10

Just watching an episode of ben & holly with my DS - all about dinosaurs!! Totally meant to be!
Bens just tickled a pterodactyl! Grin

GothicRainbow · 07/02/2015 09:11

Oh and he's also now playing with a crocodile - what are the thoughts on them??

Bolshybookworm · 07/02/2015 09:13

Nah, if you were religious enough to believe that dinosaurs are fake, you would definitely NOT be ok with elves and fairies (see up thread). Whoever the OP is, they're not an evangelical Christian.

fattymcfatfat · 07/02/2015 09:15

onsera cad stands for Christians against dinosaurs, that was clarified last night. there is also a fb page.

squizita · 07/02/2015 09:19

Yep creationists tend to frown on fairies, wizards etc. I think it's a wind up.

fattymcfatfat · 07/02/2015 09:21

squizita! butterflies are whores! Grin

as for fairies this was also discussed further upthread Smile

DishwasherDogs · 07/02/2015 09:22

If you do a google image search of dinosaurs in cave art there are loads that come up. Some look obviously fake, some are crap drawings of mammoths/goats/giraffes or other mammaly type things, but some look (to my untrained eye) real.

I do believe that dinosaurs existed, and millions of years ago, but what's going on wih the drawings and other objects? Are they all fakes put in place by Christians against Dinosaurs?
