No i don't have anything better to do. Yes I am childish.

That said me and my best friend have a long running game where we like to prank each other. Very small scale stuff. Most recently this has taken the form of sending each other postcards from wherever we are with daft messages on them.

It started when i went on holiday and sent her a postcard as promised. Then she went away and forgot to send me one. So the next time i was away (not anywhere vaguely exciting) i sent her a narky one bemoaning my lack of postcards. Then she bombarded me with daft cards saying how much she loved me and was my bestest ever friend.

Now I'm stuck. What can I do or send her.....

I know mn is full of evil geniuses (genii?)...please help me Grin

secret admirer postcards from 'Nigel' - from all over the UK?

Roseformeplease · 29/08/2014 14:55

Do you have a lot of photos of her? Turn them into postcards and send them to someone else in her house (DH? DP? Mum?) all of them saying something from her to them....

All of them will freak out.

cleanasawhistle · 29/08/2014 14:58

Rememeber years ago Coronation Street had a story line where a Gnome was stolen from Mavis' garden.
The Gnome then sent postcards saying it had gone on holiday and was having a wonderful time lol.

I very nearly did this at Xmas when my sister kept putting photos on facebook of the reindeer she had bought and it was in her front garden,so tempting but I wasn't sure that she would see the funny side.

OwlCapone · 29/08/2014 15:00

Who is the MN imaginary Christmas card couple? Roy and Janet? I'm sure they have holidays.

ApocalypseNowt · 29/08/2014 15:00

Both excellent ideas.

eatscake I'm off to Sheffield next week so 'Nigel' can start there.

Rose I'm on a website right now choosing which card to add her lovely mush to.

clean next time i'm at her house I will be sure to try and nick something. She doesn't have any gnomes but she does have a cat. That might work!

I am unaware of this couple Owl but they are very welcome to get in on the action.

Yes Owl, it is Janet and Roy. My very favourite part of Christmas. I sent loads last year! Grin

ApocalypseNowt · 29/08/2014 15:03

I can't believe Janet and Roy passed me by.

AND they didn't send me a christmas card. Wankers.

cleanasawhistle · 29/08/2014 15:09

I hope you don't mean a real cat lol ?

CatThiefKeith · 29/08/2014 15:12

Apocalypse I can send your intended victim one from Kent if you like? Remind me nearer the time. My DM was completely mystified by hers, I was howling when I left, so so funny.

cleanasawhistle · 29/08/2014 15:15

I am going to do the Xmas cards from random people, brilliant

TessTackle · 29/08/2014 15:19

You can't steal her cat!

Nohootingchickenssleeping · 29/08/2014 15:21

What's the Janet and Roy thingy?

AppleAndMelon · 29/08/2014 15:25

How about signing her up for a few brochures from companies supplying comodes/dreadful clothes/Damart underwear? (sorry trees).

CatThiefKeith · 29/08/2014 15:29

I ran the thread last year, everyone got another MNer to send their Janet and Roy cards, to add extra confusion.

The perfect Janet and Roy card has a Round Robin inside, mine last year saw Janet being made captain of the ladies golf team, Roy having prostrate trouble (not related to that other business fortunately) and their daughter Natalie being abroad working for a charity.

Nations one to my parents was inspired. Poor old Bunty McKinley had died, and my DF was convinced he "knew the name, but couldn't place him"

They were on the phone to people and all sorts. It was genius! Grin

Best prank I ever heard was between two friends of mine. Friend A had a dvd delivered, but friend B got to it first, steamed it open, and replaced the ordered dvd with a porn film. Unfortunately friend B had to go out, was not there to point & laugh, thus friend A had already complained at great length to the seller!!

Dwerf · 29/08/2014 15:29

Acquire photo of her cat
Set up facebook page for Tiddles
Have Tiddles friend your friend
Post hilarious status updates from the cat

ThisFenceIsComfy · 29/08/2014 15:32

For my friends birthday I sent him a post card a day, each with a single letter on, that spelt out an insult. Obviously you can put a nicer message on yours. I found really drab postcards too from my home town.

The gnome thing was also done in the film, American. She took her father's gnome.

ThisFenceIsComfy · 29/08/2014 15:33

Amelie not American!!!

ApocalypseNowt · 29/08/2014 15:39

OK photo card ordered!

Yes, it is an actual cat.

I like the postcards with a letter on them. It will definitely be an insult.

CatThiefKeith I may well take you up on that.

Apple great idea. Am on it.

I'm going to Janet and Roy my parents this year, definitely with a round robin. I'll never come clean! I can imagine my dad reading the letter out at the dining table. Smile can't wait.

jopickles · 29/08/2014 15:54

get one of those masks made of her face and take it with you everywhere you go and get random people to wear it or put it on statues etc and turn the pics into postcards

cleanasawhistle · 29/08/2014 15:56

love this thread

ApocalypseNowt · 29/08/2014 15:58

Love it jopickles. I'll get a few done so i can do some group shots.

Is it bad that if someone asked what my hobby was i'd have to direct them to this thread...? Wink

My friend set up an ad on gumtree for an ice cream van for sale. Added all the info, and a very reasonable asking price plus our friends mobile number. In a week he had 200+ phone calls enquiring about it. As it wasn't his gumtree account he couldn't remove the advert
