I used to think that I was a good writer. But, since joining MN, I have to face the sad realisation that this is untrue. If I comment on a thread, it dies, and if I start a thread, no one answers! I give up. I know I am a good reader, I will stick to that from now on....

Blue yes, VixZen reminded me that I meant to say that I'm so happy for you about future DIL!
we have 5 boys and I already decided that I'll be the best MIL ever.
that is after the wedding.

If they bring home any girl I don't like I'll be a total vile cow and drive them away.and will get DD to help my cause!Grin Actually a little bit true Blush

I know I'll try to be nice, but I don't think that I'll care so much for weaklings.
you do marry the family, so it's best if you fit in.if you don't then Sayonara!

( is that harsh? maybe I should start a thread to find out hoq many people actually have a good or at least agreeable relationship with their MIL)

anyway, glad that you two hit it off! Envy

VixZenFenchell · 08/06/2013 08:42

I'm an anaesthetist :) best job ever but sadly involves an on call roster.

If you start your MiL thread then I beg to be excused from it - I don't think my relationship with mine could be classed as even agreeable sadly. I have an email from her somewhere telling me how rubbish I am in general (complete character assassination) and how much she doesn't like me.

Determined not to do the same to any future DiL, though given DS1 is only just 7 I have a while to go without worrying!

Yes we have costumes although not straw hats - mostly darkish tops & trousers or skirts with sparkly scarves. I do have a very sequinned sparkly black dress in the back of the wardrobe for competitions! It's a barbershop chorus of about 40, today we had quartet club so abut 16.

Hello chaps - off to do a sponsored run with the kids - 1km round the local park. #athletes the lot of us

Then a fete this afternoon to raise funds for the local woodland area and finally out for a spin tonight with DH on my new bike.

Its a day of unaccustomed activity and tomorrow I will need lots of Wine to recover.

Zen I love your Friday night stand, punctuation lapses not withstanding. Heroic work.

My PiL told me before my wedding that they didn't like me, had never liked me and were desperately unhappy about our marriage. Bless them. They have calmed down as they have got more doolally aged.

amazingmumof6 · 08/06/2013 09:15

oh VixZen I really want to be in your barbershop!
< runs out to buys sparkly scarf>

Duchess that's horrible. poor you!
and VixZen you too.Sad

no I won't be a meany like that if I can see they serious and they love each other!

VixZenFenchell · 08/06/2013 10:22

zing we positively embrace new members. You'll have to move closer though, practice is every Thursday night.

/yawn. All I've done today is eat, sing and snooze. And now I'm in bed and there is a raining wailing windstorm from hell (aka Aus) blowing around my bedroom window.

amazingmumof6 · 08/06/2013 11:44

for once it's lovely and sunny here with a perfect amount of breeze - I call it walking weather.

oh, Thursday night is busy as boys have piano lessons. but I'm free on Wednesdays - would you be a dear and reorganize everyone's life for my sake please? that's a good girl

Thumbtack · 08/06/2013 17:55

Thumbtack · 08/06/2013 19:26

amazingmumof6 · 09/06/2013 04:29

I waved at her on another thread today (I think) - so she's been roaming around.

she'll be back, no doubt.

Roomfor1more · 09/06/2013 13:39

I'm here!! Enjoying the weather and getting burnt alive. Factor 50 and still glowing, not good for the Redhead Grin

Must sort out stuff for the bbq. Have 2 bottles of vino in the chiller with my name on it. Dh can do all the putting to bed etc with the kids tonight, I've clocked out!!

Hope your all ok and enjoying yourselves x

DuchessOfAvon · 09/06/2013 17:28

We are also enjoying the summer (at last) and I am a bit crispy round the edges. I slather the girls in Factor 30 after half an hour of being outside but always forget about myself.

We could have done without the fire alarm in the kitchen running out of back-up battery and peeping insistently about it at 3:30 this morning. Grrr... Then DH went off for a bike ride and was an hour late getting home when we have friends over for lunch. I was trying to cook, entertain DD2, sooth a homework crisis in DD1 and clean the house to a suitable standard - at least the bits that wold be seen. Grrrr again...

Still, I have now had Wine so am much calmer...

Blueandwhitelover · 09/06/2013 18:18

Hello all, quiet weekend in the garden here.

Thumbtack · 09/06/2013 18:21

roomie! thought you had left us. What's on the BBQ tonight?

duchess yes, we must wary of the extra dot in the ellipsis Grin

Thumbtack · 09/06/2013 18:23

Hello blue jealous of you having a garden. I'm stuck in a flat, but I've been out on an all day mission with the little one. Running a bath as I type.

Roomfor1more · 09/06/2013 19:00

TT Had marinaded steaks, baked potatoes, Italian roasted veggies and homemade coleslaw, I'm like Buddha now lol I could lend you some of our garden, we have 2 acres :O The joys of living in the utter sticks! Neighbours up the road about half a mile is considered nearly living on top of each other. One bottle of vino down yay Grin Still plugging away at Miranda, I never give up on a book however bad it is but this is really trying me.... It feels like she's trying a bit too hard and I want to slap her, hard! Hmm

Groovee · 09/06/2013 19:02

I often kill a thread as well as ones I started myself Blush

Blueandwhitelover · 09/06/2013 19:03

I do love my garden. DH has been sanding down the decking for me today and I slobbed out there this afternoon.
I haven't told him yet that the sunlounger he bought me for my birthday last year has a couple of split s in it due to my increased weight. I've been lying out on the cushioned bit and a quilt.
I think he is afraid to ask.Grin

Thumbtack · 09/06/2013 21:02

I only get my garden 'fix' when I'm at my parents, they live in the sticks too, and I bask myself there, watching the birds.

I'm a country girl stuck in the city

roomie you're BBQ is my ultimate BBQ - has the homemade coleslaw and wine everything!

Thumbtack · 09/06/2013 21:03
