To wonder how many different ways you can come up with to say YABU to this

atthewelles · 25/02/2013 12:05

Just always fascinated by how a post that only seems to have one possible answer ie YANBU can be turned on its head, mis-read, mis-interpreted, taken out of context etc in order that the OP can be told they ABU.

So, to this perfectly obvious YANBU example how many ways can different posters find a YABU angle?

"I was standing at the bus stop yesterday and was first in the queue for the bus. After waiting about twenty minutes the bus came along and was pretty full. The driver said 'one passenger only' and the person behind me pushed me to one side and got on. AIBU to think this was rude, inconsiderate and downright cheeky and to wish I'd said something at the time?"

Jeez, YABU, will anyone think about the goats

Blipbip · 27/02/2013 08:18

Honestly OP? is this the most important thing in your life?

Well aren't you the lucky one Hmm

I have got better things to waste my time on

atthewelles · 27/02/2013 10:05

I have spent all night behind that sodding curtain and not one of you came to see if I was alright. Just in case any of you are worried (not) I'm fine and am now going to hide this thread again and go back behind my curtain in yet another attempt to make you all feel guilty.

I might even flounce off, and then you'll all be really sorry

WorraLiberty · 27/02/2013 10:14

It's been roughly 9 minutes since the OP threatened to flounce.

By now she must have been inundated with PMs begging her to stay....

atthewelles · 27/02/2013 10:20

Yes, I have and if I hadn't hidden this thread I would be coming back on to quote some of the lovely messages I've received. But I've hidden the thread so I can't hear what any of you are saying.

RU OK OP????

atthewelles · 28/02/2013 10:58

Thanks for the inventive replies everyone.

After 233 posts, I think all the usual type responses have been covered:

The posters who get the wrong end of the stick and criticise the OP for something she never said;

The posters who come up with wild and wonderful scenarios to excuse an inexcusable action;

The posters who latch on to some minor detail in the opening post and try and make the thread all about that;

The self righteous posters who twist, turn, rattle and shake everything in order to show how unoffended, tolerant and PC they are;

The posters who try and make the OP feel bad for starting a thread about such a trivial subject when there are people with far worse problems in the world;

and, of course, the poster who goes to the trouble of opening the thread and logging on to superciliously tell everyone she has no interest in the topic under discussion Confused

Grin OP.
It was a most excellent thread, it should go into classics.
Then when threads do go that way, we can refer posters to it.

atthewelles · 28/02/2013 11:19

That would be great LadyBeagle. Who decides which threads to save as classics?

OP posts:
LadyBeagleEyes · 28/02/2013 11:25

I've no idea, atthewelles, I'm sure someone that knows will come on and tell us.

SandraBullock · 28/02/2013 11:26

Atthewelles

It was me . I have a living to make , you know . I was contractually obliged to board that bus and drive it at over 60mph for 98 minutes . YABVU. Just because I am an actress doesn't mean to say I don't have feelings.

Were you the woman who knocked over my fiance as well?

RobinSparkles · 28/02/2013 11:37

Atthewelles, I think you just report your original post to nominate for classics. I have done so :o.

LadyBeagleEyes · 28/02/2013 11:41

Just 'reported' it too Robin.
Thanks for info.

atthewelles · 28/02/2013 12:09

Thanks.

AIBU to think this thread was fun? :)

RebeccaMumsnet · 28/02/2013 13:32

YANBU - We have moved this to classics now Grin

TheVermiciousKnid · 01/03/2013 10:31

You are all unreasonable. I am the only reasonable person. On the planet.

Almost true fact.

BinksToEnlightenment · 01/03/2013 20:04

I've only just seen the Sandra Bullock post. Genius :o

Trills · 01/03/2013 20:06

I am glad this is now in classics because obviously you were not asking if you were being unreasonable to wonder, you were just asking people to come up with ways to say YABU.
