do you ever find left over notes in shopping torlleys or elsewhere? i

i am vaguely intrigued by these as identified in teh times
"Discarded notes are rubbish to most people, but not for worldwide subscribers to Found, which reprints them. The magazine?s publisher, Davy Rothbart, gets bundles sent to his office in Michigan. Laura Kwerel, a radio producer in Washington, was ?overwhelmed? after reading one issue. ?I realise now,? she says, ?that there is more humanity in a discarded grocery list than in a thousand-page novel.? Some people need to get out more. "

Promised DD I would post this list as she found it for me last week (I think she got fed up of being dragged around supermarket trolley parks looking for lists when this thread was in its heyday !)

wipes
tights
body puff
parmesan
cabbage
butter
milk
ginger ale
drinks
guiness

(is it just me or is there something a bit eeewww about this list?? Think its the first bit makes me think "personal hygiene problem alert" Grin)

morningpaper · 27/04/2006 21:05

I think it's the closeness of tights, parmesan and cabbage

yuck

BettySpaghetti · 27/04/2006 21:07

hence the need for wipes and body puff no doubt!

JJMumsnet · 04/05/2006 11:08

just a test - no shopping list to report, sadly.

BettySpaghetti · 04/05/2006 12:03

Have I really broken it then??? Sad

BettySpaghetti · 04/05/2006 12:03

Hey -its working!! Grin

hulababy · 28/07/2006 15:36

For the first time ever since first seeing this thread I found a list! Yeah Not very exciting though. Found in basket in local Co-op shop, written with joined up writing (looks like a woman in her 40/50s (I reckon anyway) on a piece of yellow paper - as if from one of those shopping list booklets.

mushrooms
peppers
bananas
plums
cherry toms
carrots
form from post office
Beano/Dany
Radio Times

Toothyboy · 16/08/2006 13:11

I know it's an old thread - but I've finally found a list!

It was at Tesco Extra at Sunbury Cross yesterday - definitely belonged to a mum as the straps on the baby seat were still damp and there was the end of a chewed up piece of french stick discarded at the bottom of the trolley!

It's on A5 lined notepaper (ringbound at the top), written in black biro in typical young woman's handwriting, slanted to the right and slightly joined up. It reads as follows:

Whole Milk
Julz lunches?
Cheese Block. Grated
Pasta Pack
Colesl (scribbled out)
Onion
Egg
Scones
banana's
Bread
Dad lunch treat
Tea 4 Thurs
Yoghurts
Wipes
Spring Onion
Mushrooms
Bacon

fullmoonfiend · 09/11/2007 19:59

Housemum · 09/11/2007 23:33

OK - can I make up what was on the list in this guy's mind? I did a stint on the evening tills in Sainsbury's and a guy buys some Polo mints, a pregnancy test and some condoms (yes, this was real)

The mental list in his mind must be:

Pregnancy test (shit, hope she's not)

Polo Mints (hmm, if she's not, am I in with a chance of a shag?)

Durex (best be sure this time...)

WrongSideOfTwenty · 02/06/2008 20:05

I found a shopping list today, it was lying on the ground outside my local Morrissons, I picked it up as I wanted to contribute to this thread, lol.

It was written on the back of a receipt for £60 worth of diesel and written in a bright red felt tip pen.

Cling film
Jam
Tin foil
yorkshire pudds
ham joint
weetabix
bread
R.blades

Someone has published a book with found lists and notes in, I saw it the other day.

I found one in Waitrose last week and read it, it made me think of Cod.

I put it back in case the person returned for it.

They needed lots of things from the healthfood shop inc

extra strength cod liver oil

but had really old persons hand writing so couldn't make out that much.
