What a good person you are, Pinot. They are lucky lucky kittens. People can be so heartless when it comes to kittens and cats. That mommy cat made a good choice for her kittens to be born in your garden.

Pinot · 19/04/2011 11:22

Oh lettinggo, I'm so not, I bet everyone of us on this thread would do exactly the same. And better! I do find it crazy she chose our garden as we have 2 cavalier king charles spaniels, a hungarian vizsla and 3 ver ver noisy kids bouncing on the trampoline. Plus me bellowing from dawn til dusk Grin

Plus a hamster and a corn snake. It's a zoo I tell ya.

If you fancy sitting in the sun with them it won't do them any harm (as long as they're warm enough) but no they don't need to.

Give it a couple of weeks and they'll be on their feet and full of beans and you'll spend all day playing 'hunt the kitten' so I'd advise leaving them to snooze as much as possible now so you don't mommy yourself out before they get going Wink

On that note... if you have any pot plants i'd advise covering over the soil now... the little buggers will dig Grin

Pinot · 19/04/2011 11:31

Summer you are absolutely my kitten guru so must not go on holiday/leave your computer until they are at least 8 weeks old Grin

Awww!

I want a kitten.

Pinot · 19/04/2011 11:35

Actually - none of you can.

Don't leave me!

SummerRain · 19/04/2011 11:35

no chance of me going anywhere.... a holiday is a distant dream with my finances Grin

Dunno about being a guru.... generally the term used about me is 'crazy cat lady' Wink

Northernlurker · 19/04/2011 11:36

Watch out for your sofa I read a thread on here where somebody's kitten kept hiding down the back of the cushions and nearly getting sat on. Also the kitchen - make sure there are no nooks and crannies where they can get behind the units or you may have to rip the whole kitchen out to rescue them. Our cat also likes climbing in to open drawers and then jumping down the back of them - so you can't shut the drawer and you can't get her out either. She also loves the tumble drier......double checking before we put it on is now an unbreakable rule in this house!

Hello, I too have been following this saga and wanted to post to say you're doing such an amazing job. Am still hoping that the Mummy will re-surface...

I clicked on your profile and agree that the kits are scrumptious. Was also a bit bemused by the title of your favourite book 'Random acts of heroic love'. How very apt!

Hoping karma is real and you have some loveliness round the corner.

Pinot · 19/04/2011 11:50

Thanks Hazel :) Lovely post :) You should try and read that book - it's epic and amazing and one of those rare books that stay with you long after you finish.

Another who has been watching and would just like to agree with everyone else in saying you are doing a fantastic job. Looking forward to following the story over next few weeks!

Crystyclear · 19/04/2011 12:49

this thread is lovely! so glad those kitties found such a great foster mum!

i hope CPL continue to help you too. I adopted two FIV positive cats a few years ago and CPL cover their medical bills, which is such a help with their condition. One died at Christmas aged approx 13 and the other one is sunbathing in the lounge window. always sad they can't go out in case they infect another cat, but always grateful the CPL rehome FIV cats rather than put them to sleep.

good luck with your new kits.

WuzzAndBuddy · 19/04/2011 13:36

Aw they're so cute!
And very lucky to have found you Smile

TapselteerieO · 19/04/2011 13:49

Good luck Pinot, really hope they all make it now!

BornThisWayBaby · 19/04/2011 13:52

another one just wanting to say your doing an amazing job!
also wanted to mark my place to keep up with the kittys Grin

b1uebells · 19/04/2011 14:45

How did it go at the vets?

Pinot · 19/04/2011 15:23

Back from the vets - all have a clean bill of health and he's happy they've put on weight/stayed same since yesterday.

The one with the swollen foot - who we call Thumper now - has been inspected and he says it's a birth deformity made worse by Mum biting it. Says to keep up with the antiseptic and salted baths.

Bless - they were quite the talk of the waiting room!!

Now fast asleep in their bed on their heatpad. What an exhausting day for them Wink

My kids are proud as punch with right puffed up chests at 'their' kittens.

Vet was great but did stress it's still a long way to go, particularly with Thumper.

OP posts:
Pinot · 19/04/2011 15:24

Oh - still no sign of Mum.

OP posts:
Northernlurker · 19/04/2011 15:32

Ok well that sounds as good as you could get really from the vet. I have to say I was worried about the leg. Just a case of seeing how it mends and develops I guess. I don't know how old your dcs are but maybe it's an idea to talk to them about how vulnerable the kittens are atm. You are doing an amazing job but in losing their mum they are at a bit of a disadvantage and I think it would be sensible to inform your children about that in case things do go wrong.

Pinot · 19/04/2011 15:37

Good advice Northern.

Only just stumbled on this thread and wanted to say what a fabulous job you are doing. The cat mum might have been rubbish but she certainly picked the right garden to dump them in.

butterflyexperience · 19/04/2011 15:58

Wow this thread is amazing!
Well done op for loving the kittens so much your dc's must be lovely with a mum like you!

In agreement with all the pictures are sssoooooo cute!
