Yay thanks Fox!

Jelly they are 3 weeks today and they slept for a MASSIVE four hours between feeds last night which is good great amazing as this week I have been really struggling with being shattered and therefore being crap at all my other responsibilities. Plus its DS2's 10th birthday on Sunday (ooh tomorrow) and I just don't feel like I've done enough for him. So yeah - guilt is heavy on me right now but they are doing so well it's all worth it. of course it's all worth it. Just struggling is all, t'will be fine!

Gingers hair is growing back really well - its about a cm long now and getting soft and silky. Not as silky as Meow's fur, she has lovely shiny fur whereas Ginger is more fluffy. I wonder if they had different Dad's? Grin

I hope your ds has a lovely birthday Pinot.

I am impressed you have done so well with such broken sleep - the way the kittens are growing does prove you are doing a fantastic job! When can you drop the night feeds?

Pinot · 07/05/2011 10:35

I'm hoping this week Tapsel - I really am shattered. Just weighed them and Ginger is 500g (!!!!!!!!!!!) and Meow 410g. Yup - think I'll give them another coupld of nights on a 4hr feed then see if they can make it through - at least til early morning.

:)

These kittens are doing so well and it is all down to you Pinot.

My cat has just jumped up on the sofa between DD and I and DD got off saying "you are so spoilt FabCat. I had to move because of you." FabCat was massively unconcerned. still not eating as I would like

Pinot · 07/05/2011 12:57

Ooh don't be so sweet FAB I'm a bit overtired and teary today - bless you, don't set me off!!

How did FabCat get on eating the medicine powder last night? Not good?

OP posts:
TheOriginalFAB · 07/05/2011 13:12

She had renal food for tea so I didn't need to give her the powder. She did eventually eat all her tea but it took hours. She still has breakfast but is asleep next to me with her paw over her eyes.

Pinot · 07/05/2011 13:15

Paw over her eyes squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!! so cute x

Just found this! They are soooo adorable. Very sorry you lost Rosie though.

Can't believe MNHQ haven't produced a [kitten] though (bad MNHQ, bad)

Pinot · 07/05/2011 16:38

Blimey you did well to read it all Zombie! Thanks about Rosie - what a sweetheart she was.

That's sad about your little Rosie Pinot. I do wonder if our Rosie misses her kittens. They were rehomed end of january a few weeks before we got her. She sometimes carries round a little cuddly lamb and she often licks us.
We saw the kittens when we went to chose her and they were sweet. Rosie was only a kitten herself when she had the kittens and is still very playful.

DH's family had siamese when he was a boy and one of them found an abandoned kitten behind a board outside. They kept him and he was a beautiful ginger and white tom. He never had a tail and had a double coat and talked, so probably had manx in him. I think he was about 15 when he died. We were looking for a ginger talker like Sandy but ended up with Rosie instead.

Jellykat · 08/05/2011 17:29

Hope you got a decent nights' sleep last night Pinot!

I've been remembering my wise old gentleman cat, with all this feline talk on MN..He used to come with me to walk the dog, and i swear he could read my thoughts! other cats used to follow him about, which never really bothered him..He was ginger and white too.

The worst thing is, i saw him go around the side of the house that day, and even though i had a feeling i should go and get him, i was in the middle of making supper. 5 minutes later i heard a car, and i just knew... Still makes me cry, and it was 2 years ago, silly baggage that i am!

I showed your piccys to my 13yr old 'tough guy' DS2, even he momentarily melted Pinot Smile

Foxinthewoods · 08/05/2011 22:32

Jelly Sad I know exactly what you mean...similar thing with my lovely boy...grrrr

Pinot · 09/05/2011 09:23

Oh my days Jelly, that is the saddest thing. Oh my goodness :( Hold onto the thought that your life is better to have known him despite the grief he leaves (or as they say, it's better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all....)

The kitties have been great this weekend - it was a bit mad yesterday trying to do birthday shenanigans whilst racing back to the house for feeding etc but I managed it and DS2 had a great day. A really great day :) He's the best birthday present I ever got - our birthdays are only 11 days apart and he loves the fact we are the 'May's' together. Love him to bits.

So Ginger and Meow have now got so big they dont fit in my crappy Woolies scales but at last weigh-in Ginger was over 500g and Meow was over 400g

They've got very l-o-n-g, quite a gap now between their front and back legs - new pic is up. The others I took won't upload (think too many megapixels?? Gah!) so will try again later.

I've tried weaning three times and they have shown no interest at all. I kinda thought that bit would be easy....!

Thanks again all of you for your support!

Pinot They must not be ready to give up their Mum yet, you are doing such a good job Smile

Loving the new pics they are too cute.

OTheHugeManatee · 09/05/2011 11:04

This website suggests you offer them a tiny bit of food from your hand from about 4-5 weeks old, and gradually get them used to a plate.

I suppose it's not KLW if you offer it by hand, but I'm sure the BLW brigade will forgive you Grin

TheOriginalFAB · 09/05/2011 11:34

Lovely photos.

I am sat next to my cat and she looks enormous compared to the kittens1 Grin.

Pinot · 09/05/2011 11:50

OTHM thats a great link thank you! They're only 3 weeks so I'll leave it a bit longer I think. DH thinks I should enjoy the bottle feeding as long as poss as its quite ridiculously cute to see but I see weaning as a sign of development and strenght iyswim, but I know not to rush it. You're right happymole :) They're now both eating half a bottle per feed whereas when they arrived a whole bottle would last all day (including Rosie!)

They both have developed a thing for crawling up my arms and nuzzling into my hair. Ginger has spent the last hour asleep there, purring on and off, whilst Meow was tucked down my top. They are just too cute!!! Great way to avoid housework Wink

Hows FabCat?

SummerRain · 09/05/2011 12:04

Pinot, that new pic has cheered me up no end whilst wading through my OU assignment (due thursday [eek])

I'm glad your ds had a great birthday, hope you got to put your feet up last night after all that running around though.

I can't get over how big and healthy they are.... fantastic sizes for their ages, a real testament to the massive effort you've been putting in Smile

Pinot · 09/05/2011 12:08
