and guess what I jsut did - decided to go out and get some petrol as I am driving up north for a course tomorrow, plus got two parcels to post so need to go to the post office.

DT1 had a big paddy about going out and every time I put his shoes on he took them off. It took 20 minutes of screaming to get them all rugged up warm and with shoes on.

I walked outside and my car isnt there. DH must have taken it for some reason but not bothered to tell me (he gets the train normally).

I am QUITE ANNOYED.

frumpygrumpy · 12/02/2008 10:50

Shall we go Calafornian beach jogging or just hop into the cafe and slurp all that it offers? [innocent wide-eyed botox free smile]

Robbie Williams..........oh yes please, I would be more than happy to find him a dark alley to share

lol at Triplets with whiskers and a stairlift, that made my day

thank you chopster - yes thats right - SM (mac) thankyou again

frumpygrumpy · 12/02/2008 10:59

Mars, stay strong. It will be over. The bills will be paid. A line will be drawn and you will be left to make sense of it in your own head. And then you will carry on with your life, the way you live it. Its just a bit you have to do right now.

I have made it quite clear in my will that I will be having a cardboard box to nestle in, that I'd like it filled with the things that made me me (egyptian style for my next life) and that I want the minimum paid for everything. I'd like no ceremony at all, just burned and my ashes passed on to the family so they can sprinkle me to the wind, somewhere by the sea. I have also made it quite clear that I would like overly dramatic loud sobbing too

Never seen the appeal of Robbie myself, now Gary Barlow...(JOKING I AM ONLY JOKING PLEASE DONT TAKE ME SERIOUSLY!)

Come on Chops tear yourself away from the assignment and give us the title - I am good at ones that start with "Compare and contrast" but they are usually english lit type ones. I got a First for one of my essays about the symbolism of the railways in Anna Karenina at uni you know......bet none of you knew that I studied Russian....

FG - have emailed you.

shabster · 12/02/2008 11:40

HM - I agree about Bary Garlow (makes my skin crawl) but......the Robster - omg wipe me down with a chamois leather - like that word chamois....

Yes - we need a title

how about

The perils of the menopause
or
The attraction of younger men when a woman is over 50
or
Mental illness in the over 50's - discuss

shabster · 12/02/2008 11:43

HM - Uni - that sounds so grand.

I stayed on for my 5th year at secondary - we were the only age group who were given the choice - to leave at 15 or stay till 16.

Also in the early 70's if you didnt go to grammer school you were forgotten about. BUT I was allowed to sit my GCSE's and O levels - and got the lot!!!!!

Uni - wouldnt mind going now - xx

shabster · 12/02/2008 11:49

triplets - you about my love? Everything ok?

tkband3 · 12/02/2008 11:49

Right, I have 5 minutes to myself - now will everyone PLEASE stop posting for a bit, so I can catch up . This thread moves so fast these days - sat down to catch up whilst eating breakfast this morning but was called away for some catastrophe thing trivial and when I got back just now, there was a whole extra page to read!

Mars, I haven't had a chance to send you sympathies about your dad. It must be a tough time for you, but I'm sure you'll be glad in the long term that you saw him before he died and are going to the funeral, even if it is sending you round the bend right now. Sending you love and hugs. And a belated happy birthday to your lovely DTs. I hope they had a wonderful day yesterday.

Shabster, I'm in awe of your strength, determination and humour - your story made me very . Good to have you here.

FG, glad you've made it back to us - you'll have gathered you were much missed.

And everyone else, hello. I've run out of time - have to go and get the DTs from nursery. I've had my make-up and hair trial this morning, so am sitting here in ringlets and full on make-up feeling very glam (makes a change ). Hope all the sick ones are on the mend. Would like some healthy vibes in this direction please - can feel a cold starting, my first this winter, and I just have this awful feeling that I will be sniffling, sneezing and coughing through my vows .

HM, just quickly, no time to post on the catch-up thread, but if you 'see' Norris, tell her I'll almost certainly share with her, but haven't got room in my v. small brain to think about much else at the moment .

shabster · 12/02/2008 11:51

tkband - thanks for your words - much appreciated. Two choices in bereavement - you sink or swim and I aint going nowhere. Wasn't always this strong tho just check with triplets for confirmation about that.

largeginandtonic · 12/02/2008 12:32

HM i had dd all night, you should have got a great nights sleep!

DH has woken with chicken pox, the baby has spots coming out as we speak no signs on ds#4 yet though...

Poor dh is pickled!

HarrogateMum · 12/02/2008 12:59

oh LG&T poor you! THe pox is horrible. THank god all three of mine were done and dusted with it when DD was just a mite.

Tkb - thanks for telling me re norris, I will post over there and hopefully she will come otu of her hole! Hurrah, at least 4 of us!

Shabster - dont know about the fancying young men when you are over 50, what about when you are over 35, the poor lads at work dont know what to do when I tell them to come and sit on "Aunty Rachel's knee"!

iamdingdong · 12/02/2008 13:18

give the pox to the fox LG&T

triplets · 12/02/2008 13:32

Here I am Shabster, just got home from the pub.................not as exciting as it sounds, meet my Mum in there for coffee! Occasionally have half a pint of Guiness at 10.30am, my Dad would be proud of me! Stil recovering from last week, feet never touched the ground, thank god for that stair lift I am coming to Faliraki one day with you Shabster, remember our Shirley Valentine pact? DH just left for the hospital, he was very quiet, could have gone with him if someone would have picked the kids up for me. What else, oh yes, we can see France encore, now fall back into line and conga...do do da do da do da.....Triplets fades away.............

theslownorris · 12/02/2008 13:33

Thank you tkb! I have a friend at last!

None of my lot have had chicken pox and dd1 is 12 . Both dh & I had it as children though, does anyone know if it's possible to have natural immunity? Otherwise it looks like at some point I'm going to have a spotty nightmare!

shabster · 12/02/2008 14:23

Hiya trips - just spent the last couple of hours pretending I am a domestic godess - DH and DS4 are easily convinced. Its half term here.

Ah the Shirley Valentine pact - she is my hero - the greatest film ever made.
If I can kill off DH before July there will be a spare flight ticket - I will keep you updated on progress.

If you come with me I will be able to get on your shoulders so I can snog the face of the beautiful one - Nikos

iamdingdong · 12/02/2008 15:40

I've just caught a glimpse of overrun

HarrogateMum · 12/02/2008 15:54

where was she? And did you point her in our direction!?

iamdingdong · 12/02/2008 15:56

she popped up on the scary ID twins thread

iamdingdong · 12/02/2008 15:57

here she might take notice if we all nag her!

Chopster · 12/02/2008 16:47

I've been goign round and round in circles with my assignment and I totally missed all the offers of help!!!

I need a debate on the application of the practical benefit test of consideration in Williams v Roffey bros to the Foakes v Beer, with a full explanation of consideration, consideration and the law relating to existing contractual duties and any relevant public policy issues.

1500 words, not a penny over!

Meanwhile, I'm gonna work on one of shabster's titles instead!

HarrogateMum · 12/02/2008 16:53

erm, wahts the practical benefit test of consideration? If we knew that, maybe we could help!! Hee heeee!

Chops - have you checked the meet up thread, Tkb is going to share with norris so if you are Estar are still coming, we have 6 definites!

shabster · 12/02/2008 16:55

Chopster - oh I see why didnt you say before. The first part Williams v Roffey well my love, as far as I can remember Robbie Williams (the amazing Robster) took Roffey (some fluzey who talked to a newspaper about him) to court. After much CONSIDERATION he decided to settle in the small claims court instead.

Now have you anything you need to know about 'Industrial revolution and the Cotton Mills in the Lancashire area?'

shabster · 12/02/2008 16:57

HM - You a uni girl and didnt know what 'the practical benefit test of consideration' meant.

Kids of today - tut
