being the youthful 31 that she is, admires her creasefree face and liverspot free hands....then realises she had fallen asleep at her desk and dribbled on hr keyboard....take me away someone

Pristine · 31/07/2007 17:13

Oh dear! 35 is so not old! I am a chipper 38!

Happy birthdays, ladies!!! I'll have some bubbly for you later.

Anyone else have a 2 y/o who complete freaks over things that are too loud and/or too big?

DD had a complete meltdown, Saturday evening, when we went to the Natl. Balloon Classic (pics in my profile). She's also not fond of steam engines (there go the plans for the Day Out with Thomas, at least for her) and horses.

MarsLady · 31/07/2007 17:20

FG the second word is off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't believe that after 40 years on this planet young people still haven't learnt any manners.

And I don't have a single liver spot.

Egg · 31/07/2007 18:05

Hmmm, no liver spots but I am very burnt . I will have more wrinkles than anyone if I fail to put my factor 50 on again.

Thanks for all birthday wishes, had a lovely day in the sun with my family .

Mars, a question for you, I know you are a fabulous Doula, and I have a feeling you are not that keen on maternity nurses. I am pretty sure I will need some help when my DTs are born as DS will be 22 months ish, DH will be leaving home at 6:30am and not home at night until 7:30pm, and although we have great parents, they are not that young and I don't want to rely on them, esp with help at nighttime. So... are maternity nurses really that bad? It is nighttime help I really want, as well as lots of advice on bf and staying sane.

tkband3 · 31/07/2007 19:27

I'm less than a year and a half behind you Mars...the same as Pristine, a (not so chipper at this time of day in the summer holidays ) 38! And I don't feel a day over, oooh, 45 .

Happy Birthday to Kelly and Egg - hope you're sipping something bubbly in the sunshine!

Pristine, I was going to post a similar question - my DTs have suddenly developed fear of a whole host of things. Big dogs in the park, our own v. little yorkshire terrier at times as well, the rain (which has been interesting the last few weeks) and just about anything unfamiliar. Lots of people have told me it's just a phase, but it is quite frustrating and annoying, given they were really confident up until about 3 months ago. My HV suggested it might be something to do with them starting pre-school last term, and said I just had to keep reassuring them. My 2 are 2.4 btw.

Egg, if you do decide on a maternity nurse, I can recommend a fabulous one (whereabouts do you live?).

Oh and Mars, sorry I didn't call saturday ...assumed you would be busy and didn't want to impose. I will next time though! I think we'll be down there quite a bit this summer, it's a lovely park.

Off to fat club now (aka Slimming World). Have 1.5 pounds to go to my 2 stone award, but I've been trying to get there for 3 weeks now and it's just not working. Will be back on to celebrate if I get there...if not, I'll be stuffing my face with some green and blacks to make myself feel better .

GodzillasBumcheek · 31/07/2007 19:36

Happy birthday Egg, Happy birthday Kelly.

Am LOL cos i am only 30! Had dts when i was 21!

Leoladyofleisure · 31/07/2007 20:06

Happy birthday Kelly and Egg!

Pristine, (ds almost 2 1/2) is really sensitive to loud noises at the moment. He has an orange protection helmet with built in ear protectors which he puts on when I use my hairdryer, or vacuum cleaner, lawn mower etc.... very cute and funny and its stopped him being afraid of things that make loud noises.

I'll try to catch up properly one day....! Hanging on quite well here at the moment though !

Hello FG, did you have a nice holiday? , OK, I'll scroll down and have a look.

MarsLady · 31/07/2007 20:20

Egg....... email me on lovelymarslady at aol dot com

I'll give you my number. Call me and we'll talk.

Mat Nurses aren't all bad.... but what you need is help that allows you to manage your babies so that when the help stops you don't collapse in a heap.

Good to see you Leo.

Will reply to everything else later.

TKandB... if I'm busy I can't come... but you won't know till you call you daft mare

oi shut up you lot I'm 37 in a couple of weeks (and since I have my camping trip between now and the big day I may well feel more like 137!) but I was at a family do the other day and apparently (so the real oldies were saying) 60 is the new 40 so that must surely make 40 the new 30 or something like that ? I am plannign on celbrating my birthday belatedly when we're in Rome on holiday and intend to be thoroughly spoiled, i have even suggested to DH that he might like to buy my pressie whilst we're there, rather than beforehand controlling old bag that I am!

elsa07 · 31/07/2007 21:42

Hello all Elsa again! Flying message, I got let out of hospital today - without twins sadly all being well they should be out by the end of next week. Just going to go to my bed to get up early tomorrow to go back to stay with them.

Had a quick scan of your conversation and I just wanted to say to make you all feel better, that life begins at 40 and if you are 40, you?re closer to 21 than you are 60 .

My friend put up some photos for you to look at if you want to? they don?t look at all like me, except for their eyes, they definitely have my eyes. They look exactly like my little sister Trixie apparently?I think there is a definite resemblance.

Hope you?re all well, and thanks for all the well wishes, they made me smile .

Harrogatemum · 31/07/2007 21:49

where are these photos Elsa?

elsa07 · 31/07/2007 21:52

on my profile...or at least they should be

oooggs · 31/07/2007 22:35

not there elsa - well I can't find them - sleep well and hope your babies are home soon

Egg · 01/08/2007 08:08

Ooooooooh Elsa they are there now and so cute! Lovely cake too!

Mars thank you I will mail you shortly. Any advice much appreciated. I am supposed to be calling a maternity nurse company today to discuss the kind of person I would be looking for.

tkband3, I am in SW London at the mo but moving to Winchester, Hampshire in just over TWO WEEKS! If your mat nurse is anywhere nearby please let me know and I will CAT you or give you my email address.

Leo, your little DS's helmet sounds so cute. My DS is scared of the blender, and a bit wary of the hoover (despite the fact i used to use it to soothe him to sleep when he was tiny!), but thankfully not too bad yet.

Meeely2 · 01/08/2007 09:34

very cute bubs Elsa! so lucky that they are not attached to any equipment or need help breathing....they sure are little fighters.

Hope egg and chops had good birthdays yesterday. I am working from home today as my hall is being redecorated again. I also have a councellor apt later this afternoon, so a bit nervous about that.

man there is some crap on day time tele!

have good days all, i shall be hovering all day if peeps want chin wags
