kids and dogs , camping , shoe shopping

Intravenous alcohol never did me any harm, nice and steady

Selling houses with children. Make sure they are definitely, definitely out for the viewings. Pay people to set up camp in McDonalds or the pictures with them. Make their rooms light of toys and remove loads from the entire house to make it seem airy and free and fresh (get a storage facility or beg friends to keep excess furniture and toys throughout the sale). Clear out your cupboards and ditto with the excess. It makes a house more appealing to me if I can see the storage. Lastly, if there is a mess just before viewing (a) chuck it in the washing machine or launry basket or (b) pile it all in one area so that the rest of the place still looks good. Flowers, buy flowers. Leave no corner unturned. Buy bedspreads, it will make even manky beds look good.

My DTs are 3!! Thank you for their birthday wishes. It was a mad day. But fun. I am exhausted. We had family and friends over (I hate having family and friends over) but it worked. Hired a bouncy castle and I bounced my pants off

HM, thats not long away!

Godzilla, you just say any old thing honey and we will reply Love the name.

Anyone know what to do with thrush on back bottoms? My DT2 has a very sore back bottom tonight, poor boy. I'm guessing its thrush. I've never seen anything like it before. Its red, bumpy, spotty, a little white on the skin. Not like all the nappy rash I've seen. he's potty trained but I'm still wiping the poo (TMI!!) so its not that he's not clean there.

hey menagriekeeper - I don't need reminding, up at 3am anyway!!! and haven't even got to teething yet - fancy more children??? - come stay with me, my dt's are the perfect method of contraception

GodzillasBumcheek · 30/07/2007 22:02

Lol @ twins being contraception...nine year age gap after i had dts!

MarsLady · 30/07/2007 22:14

Happy Birthday mini Frumpies!

Well I got a pair of sandals for DD2 and then I went to the Clark's Factory shop and got a travelling bag for DD2 and a pair of trainers. I flashed my TAMBA card and got the 10% discount even though the guy had never heard of it before.

DD2 is now a size 5.5 which means she's in the adult section... oh dear Lord!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now do I order Pizza to go with my wine or more wine?

GodzillasBumcheek · 30/07/2007 22:26

Am i missing out onsomething by not being a Tamba member ?

oooggs · 30/07/2007 22:29

godzilla - NOT HAVING ANY MORE

MarsLady · 30/07/2007 22:30

Well it depends. They offer some discounts and you get 10% in Clarks. Most of their discounts do nothing for me but with 5 children that 10% discount works out to a free pair of shoes quite quickly

OP posts:
GodzillasBumcheek · 30/07/2007 22:40

That's pretty helpful, specially as i find shoes from other places don't last as long, and also dd3 has crossed toes and apparently will need properly measured shoes from day 1. Now will have to check Tamba site to see if it would be worth it.

tkband3 · 30/07/2007 22:45

Where's this clark's factory shop???!!!! I went to Clarks weekend before last, sure that DT1's feet had grown, was told by spotty saturday boy (who took all of a split second to measure them) that they had stayed the same. Then DD1 and DT2 who can't be left out, were also measured - I was told their feet had SHRUNK . In 3 months since they were last measured at the same Clarks! So last week I went to the place I always used to go before we moved...nice independent, family run, trustworthy shoe shop. DT1's feet had grown, so had DD1's and DT2's trainers didn't fit right and she'd be out of them soon....so 3 new pairs of trainers . But at least I'm sure they fit well and will last a while....

I always go to Clarks because of the TAMBA discount - you get the 10% off all the children's shoes, not just the DTs so it's v. worthwhile (I do know a mum who managed to get the discount on her own shoes as well!). At this other shoe shop I only got 5% off the DTs shoes.

Happy Birthday to the FG DTs - glad you had a lovely day.

Mars - we were down your way at the w/e, in Priory Park. Such a nice park. Loved the paddling pool (well the DDs did anyway - it was a bit chilly ).

accordiongirl · 30/07/2007 22:54

Evening twinny mummies. Just popped my head round the door, nothing particular to say! Setting off on Sunday for three weeks on an virtually uninhabited Swedish island with seven month old teething twins and a childminder to help out... Too late to wonder, is this a good idea - but is this a good idea? Anyone ever put their twins to sleep in a drawer before (empty socks and stuff out first) as cots seem to be thin on the ground on this island...?

accordiongirl · 30/07/2007 22:55

Oh and it might seem a bit obvious but sudocrem works a treat on our sore botties...

MarsLady · 30/07/2007 23:11

A drawer sounds good. Of course the way my DTs are behaving.......... I would shut it!

Hello JuA, ncie to see you again.

HM, I seem to be putting weight on too, and I don't even have the beer. I keep telling myslef it MUST be muscle. I've lost inches, so it has to be!

Lotty, gaviscon worked for me too.

fg, my gp said canestan for thrush, even on little ones, she suspected dd might have it once. Happy birthday to the dts!

ag, I put my dts to sleep on a mattress on the floor on one holiday, and they have also slept in laundy baskets quite happily too. Babies really aren't that fussy!

All my kids are living in crocs for the summer. I lvoe it, no worrying about measuring or hauling htem all out to shoe shops.

It's MY birthday today. 29, I'm getting soo old, and my legs are older yet. I'm off to Kessington today, going to take the kids to the Peter Pan park, then hopefully somewhere nice to eat.

Egg · 31/07/2007 08:12

Hey Chopster me too! It's my bday today as well! Happy birthday, I am even OLDER at 32. We are going for a picnic in Dulwich Park.

Hope everyone else is well today. Another lady on our Feb thread just found out yesterday she is having twins too and due same time as meeeeeeee so I am very happy. Hopefully she will come over here and say hello when she is over the shock.

Twins are DEFINITELY contraception. As long as everything works out ok with these two we will never never never have sex again....

chopster · 31/07/2007 08:14

ooh, happy birthday Egg.

Harrogatemum · 31/07/2007 08:55

can you all be quiet about being "old" at 29 and 32.....I will be (shhhh) 35 in August...sob.

However I have arranged a big treat for myself - we are going to Ladies Day at York Races with some friends as it is on my birthday - and we are even going in the posh stand - and we are even having a three course lunch and we are going to drink BOATLOADS of champers. I cant wait.I even bought a new dress from John Lewis online but it makes me look like I have no waist so back its going....boooooooo

Whats everyone doing today? I'm at home with the kids, weather cant make up its mind what its doing......

Harrogatemum · 31/07/2007 10:24

Egg · 31/07/2007 10:27

frumpygrumpy · 31/07/2007 10:28

Happy Birthday Kelly and Egg!!!! Hope nice things happen all day to both of you! HM, I'm close behind you, shall we skulk off and get an oldies shagged out thread? Course, Mars will need a thread of her own

frumpygrumpy · 31/07/2007 10:30

Was settling in for a chat, but my kids chopping each others heads off judging by the noise......happy days all. I'm off to the docs with DT2 in a bit, botty worse today.

Harrogatemum · 31/07/2007 11:13

Egg - GET OFF THIS THREAD NOW!!!

I feel low enough already about my age. DT2 said to his Daddy the other day "Daddy you have stripes on your forehead". I think he meant wrinkles.

frumpygrumpy · 31/07/2007 12:05

age = wisdom

I look forward to 70 since then I will have enough wisdom to know how I'd like my life to play out

menageriekeeper · 31/07/2007 15:59

THIRTY FIVE ISN'T OLD!!!!!!!!! I'm YOUNG at 37 1/2, so there. Happy 35th Birthday! 35 was an absolutely stonking year for me. It was the year when I realised I didn't give a stuff about what other people thought of me, and just concentrated on liking myself. Really grew into my own skin, and it gets better every year. Enjoy it.
