I'm baking cake. This time I have cheated and ordered a printed topper for James. He will love it.

Unfortunately he is so very excited about tomorrow, he is too excited and uncontrollably bouncy.

I am glad we went down the route of not having a party for him. I don't think he would cope by tomorrow. Instead we are either going for a picnic or to the cinema.

Minisoksmakehardwork · 17/05/2015 14:14

Things are not going well. James keeps telling me he doesn't want to have a birthday Hmm. He's finding it all a bit much.

bubby64 · 18/05/2015 15:38

belated happy birthday to your James Soks, hope he managed to enjoy some of his birthday.
I have kept all of the boys baby teeth Shabbs, don't know if I'm weird of just overly sentimental.
Did Rebecca manage back at college Trips?
Are you enjoying your new job Chops?
Bit peed off here. I saw my consultant last week, and he doesn't want me to do long days or work full time at the moment as I'm getting very tired from the chemo, and having a few side effects, especially tiredness, well, he gave me a letter stating this for work, and they said that's ok, next thing I know, I'm been put on nights for the next 5 weeks!! Their reasoning is that I can rest in the middle of the night so it's not as stressful as days, and I can get 26hrs a week in by doing 3 nights one week and 2 the next, however, I'm doing 3 nights 3 of the 5 weeks. I'm knackered already after one weekSad The good thing is that I have had a callback for a face to face interview for a new job doing independent disability case reviews. If I get it I have to go on a 18 day course in Nottingham, but I will be based in Ipswich working 9-4 for 4 days a week, no nights, weekends or holidays.

Christ Bubby. I think your work might be taking the Biscuit ever so slightly. I can't remember if I know what you do. But either way, night work is just as exhausting mentally as days can be physically.

James had an ok birthday. He enjoyed his cake and we spent a long time building mega blok (Lego sized) jeeps and hay baler. Which he has played with a lot, with his trains! But generally he's not good at the moment. He fell asleep in the car on the way home. I left him there half an hour after having gently roused him when we stopped. He screamed and fought as I had to wake him again. And I then spent the next half hour with him cradled on my lap, sat on the floor in the hall. But I've managed to remain calm in the face of his screaming and shouting at me for the rest of the evening until I sent them to bed early.

Hi all. Home from work and, tbh, absolutely knackered. My "easy" night consists of the following:- I start with the meds round, which, because I am often on with an adaption nurse (someone from abroad who has to do 6 months extra training and an exam to be able to qualify to work in uk) I have to do all 3 floors, this task me from 8.30 to about 11pm.I then do any computer work, like care planning etc, that needs to be done, help the girls out with laundry and cleaning. Then the girls are so good, they leave me to have a couple of hours sleep each night, I find a recliner and just zonk out until about 5.30am, when I then find i am starting feeds off for people who can't swallow to eat, and so have it pumped via a tube into their tummy. This means all their meds have to be given down the tubes as well, We have 6 residents needing this, so takes ages, finally I then start the meds round all over again!Confused This is actually a long shift, and not really quiet and easy going at all. The end of next week I am due to do Thur & Fri night, have Sat off them Sun & Mon. Really not sure how I will manage.

Minisoksmakehardwork · 23/05/2015 10:07

I'm aghast at your work bubs. I know taking sick leave probably isn't a potion right now. But I so wish it was for you. Even a shorter days desk just just updating care plans would surely be better than the shifts they've decided to shuffle you out of their sight on.

Hi please note the time..........am exhausted physically and mentally. Went up for a flying visit y/day to Harrogate to see Thomas. He has been home sick and lost at w/ends as its too far to get home and most of the other lads do. He ordered himself a new laptop to keep him occupied, I had it delivered her so I could take it up. So bought my train ticket on Frid, 5 hours up on Sat, 5 with him and 5 back! Then 7pm on Frid he phones all upset, been told he cant leave camp until 2.30pm even though he is supposed to have the w/end off. He said we would only have a couple of hours so he understood if I said I wouldnt go. He was so fed up bless him, I told him two hours was better than nothing. Dh said why didnt I see if I could find a cheap room for the night, I could then see him for longer, get some of Sunday with him as well. So searched for over 2 hours and finally late Frid night found a single room for £65, everything was booked, half-term and bank holiday w/end. So txt Thomas and told him not to worry. So set off at 7.30am y/day, at 10am he texts to say they have been told they cant leave the camp at all!! So I was furious but poor kid! I arrived in Harrogate at 12.45pm and shortly after he text to say they had now decided to let them go! So he grabbed a taxi and met me and we had a lovely afternoon, meal out and then he came to the b&b for an hour. He had to be back by 7.30pm so left in a taxi at 7. I was wishing I had HMs</strong> phone number, I felt so lonely after he had gone. Sat and watched the stupid Eurovision song contest then shattered I turned off my light before 11pm, only to be woken up with a start at 1pm with loud voices outside my room. Two blokes obv the worst for wear trying to get into their room, they carried on for over an hour. Finally went to sleep, text message at 7am from Thomas, he said they were told they have to go to church service and so really sorry he wont be able to meet me until at least 11.30am. So I said that's fine, my train is at 4pm we will still have some time together. I left the b&b at 10am and killed time looking round the shops, my left foot I am having trouble with was killing me. at 11am he once again texts to say no one is allowed out, kit inspection!! Well I just wanted to cry by that point, he was obv upset. I said to him do they know I have come all this way to see you? He said yes they knew but it makes no diff. So I said I would give until 12 and head for the train. At 11.50am he texts to ay he is just getting into a taxi they suddenly let him go!! Talk about messing with your mind, poor kid. So we had another 4 hours which was nice, a tearful goodbye and I left. Felt sad coming home, got on the train from St Pancras and had the journey from hell as far home as Dover. Hundreds of football fans, singing, boozing, swearing. I have had such a lovely time Hmm So how is everyone, any thing I have missed? xx

triplets · 25/05/2015 00:40

that was 1am !!

triplets · 25/05/2015 00:43

Bubby please do take care xx

Minisoksmakehardwork · 25/05/2015 20:15

Oh Trips Hmm

I'm glad you got to see Thomas eventually. Even if it was in fits and starts. Hopefully this won't put him off the long haul of his career choice.

Did they ever get to the bottom of the missing stuff not long after he started?

triplets · 25/05/2015 23:03

Hi Soks, still recovering!! No they never caught the culprits and last week the lad in the bed opposite Thomas had £100 taken from his wallet. Awful to steal from your mates:( He is up at 5am tomorrow away on a 3 day exercise sleeping in his clothes under a tarpaulin..........I hope it doesn`t rain!

triplets · 26/05/2015 05:47

Good morning! Yep its way too early, school hols and I wake at 5 instead of 6! Think my body is getting into Army mode to match Thomas!! Going to be a long day. Off to get my foot x-rayed at long last! Got an appt for the results on the 4th June, don`t know why it has to take so long! Back later no doubt! Very sunny here :)

bubby64 · 26/05/2015 10:41

hi all, just emerging from my bed!
Still on nights here, worked Sat/Sun of the bank holiday weekend, but because I didn't want to spoil it for the family, I only slept for 4hrs Sun, then got up to go to Rs brothers for the afternoon as didn't sleep yesterday as we went to a classic car rally at a train museum, Mike, especially was in his element there, he got to assist a driver and

bubby64 · 26/05/2015 10:46

Sorry, sent too soon!
anyway, they got to ride the footplate and help drive the engine. Then , last night, we went to the final night of the beer festival. I collapsed into new at 11.30 last night and slept like the dead until now, and I must admit, I still might have another nap this afternoon.

bubby64 · 26/05/2015 10:56

Trios- so glad you got to see Thomas. Are they trying to be cruel, mucking them about like that, or was it various punishments for supposed misdemeanours?!
DH said the navy was like that, if someone had not cleaned their boots properly the whole squad would be punished, supposed to help with team building, but he said all it did was pissed the squad off with the culprit. but he did say afterwards that they would all make sure he didn't do it again next time, so it must have done something.

bubby64 · 26/05/2015 10:58

ooooh, just had to close all windows, a swarm of bees just arrived outside the house, haven't seen that happen in years!

triplets · 26/05/2015 16:30

Hi no it wasn`t punishment for anything, I think they just play mind games to push them as far as they can. Thomas never bites back, he knows there is no point, those that do just get punished. All part of their plan I think to weed them out! Drives me insane though!!

shabbs · 26/05/2015 16:54

Hiya girls

My Dad did his National service training at Catterick Trips.

Having a heated 'email' debate with Virgin media. Im not giving in on this one. Have been given totally inaccurate information three times now about my bill. Have asked for longer to pay and got different, conflicting, incorrect advice off each advisor. Pillocks!!! That's the most polite word I could think of!!!

OP posts:
Minisoksmakehardwork · 28/05/2015 08:46

Is your bill actually correct? We had to pay a massive bill with Bt. But I'm now querying it as they didn't send reminders to our billing email address but to one we don't use (which of course can be proven). Ofcom are quite helpful.

shabbs · 28/05/2015 09:21

Sadly it is correct....just that we were a few hours late paying it and they wacked a ten quid late payment fee on it. I rang them three times to query different things - each phone call I was given the wrong information - I knew it was wrong so I made a note of the time I called and the persons name that I spoke to. Then I went onto Virginmedias facebook page and basically sarcastically put a post on there. For the last two days I have been emailing back and forth to an advisor. When I said I had names and times he began to listen.

Emailed me yesterday and said they have halved the bill Shock but I was still cheeky and said thank you but I cant pay it till Monday - ha ha ha ha ha ha ha....

As my Nan would have said 'there's nowt like cheek!!' meaning that I am pushing my luck with them now!!

To be fair, ours wasn't wrong either. But we weren't given fair chance to rectify it.

Ah well. Today we are celebrating Emily's 7th birthday. It's gone well! Her birthday treat for tomorrow has been officially cancelled. She bit James!!! I've no idea why as I was upstairs running a bath for the girls. But she keeps doing this so a big sanction had to be placed. I actually think she cried more though when the boys spilt milk all over her new loom band books. Weird child.

She, however, is perfectly normal and is just reacting in the way that she is reacted to I guess. So one more thing to try and alleviate in the soks household.
