Just as title says really. I have not put the heating on so far. Just wondering its not my mindset that's actually preventing me or making me feel i dont need it.

had it on for an hour a couple of weeks ago when it was getting down to a low of 4 that night. Dh put it on for the same a week or so later when it got cold again.

Shinyhappyperson22 · 06/10/2022 21:25

I’m in Manchester ish. It was 15 degrees outside a couple of hours ago according to our thermostat. House is 18. While it has a bit of a chill at times we are fine with jumpers and blankets when stay still. No need yet. We only heat to about 19 but not constant heating. Just few hours a day.l max.

WalkingOnSonshine · 06/10/2022 21:29

House hasn’t dipped below 21 degrees.

Duvets, hot water bottles & heated blankets are out though.

Hoping we can stretch until November, next 10 day forecast is highs of 17, so hope that the house keeps retaining the heat.

piffle123 · 06/10/2022 21:29

No but luckily still quite warm here in East Anglia

MyPenIsHuge · 06/10/2022 21:30

Northern England on the coast and no we haven't. I have had a hot water bottle the odd night though.

Aggypanthus · 06/10/2022 21:31

Nope not yet. It hasn't been cold enough and I'm in Yorkshire :)

Carrieonmywaywardsun · 06/10/2022 21:33

It comes on in the morning just for a few hours to heat the house through. Then electric blankets at night

AriettyHomily · 06/10/2022 21:36

Had it on last week, it was cold. Now it's weirdly warm so off again. I'm not going f to sit in the cold.

LiesDoNotBecomeUs · 06/10/2022 21:39

South West - not cold yet. I do have a thin cardi on this eve though.

Itsnotallblackandwhite · 06/10/2022 21:41

NW and have had a quick 1hr boost a couple of days this week when WFH. I’m fine during the evening when I can curl up on the couch with blankets, but get miserable when I’m sat at my table working and it’s chilly. Luckily a quick 1hr boost is fine for the whole day and evening.

GrouchyKiwi · 06/10/2022 21:42

Yes, but only because the hot water wasn't heating and having the CH on at the same time seems to make it work. We've just moved house and the boiler has been difficult. Hopefully someone will sort it out for us tomorrow, though I doubt we'll go back to having the heating off now that we've started.

WimbyAce · 06/10/2022 21:43

Has been q mild so not yet. Will be glad if I can hold out til November, that's my goal every year.

Ilovetocrochet · 06/10/2022 21:43

Yes, I got mine set at 19 degrees and it’s been coming on the the mornings for a while. If I feel cold later in the day I might turn the thermostat up to 20, especially as it’s been raining a lot and my house has had damp problems. If my nose is cold and I already wearing three layers, then I think that I need the heating on! At an average of 19 degrees though my gas bills are not too unreasonable and the house does not get damp. My extravagance is using my dryer when it rains as I can’t really dry indoors unless I buy a humidifier - my next big purchase I think.

SavingsThreads · 06/10/2022 21:44

No, I'm still only wearing one layer outside!

Mumsgirls · 06/10/2022 21:44

Yes but only when toddler dgc is here. For myself, managing with jumpers, heated throws and looking at the costs on line. Cannot believe have worked all my life and now scared to put my heating on. In one of the world’s richest countries. Going to be a long winter!

CeeceeBloomingdale · 06/10/2022 19:41

yeas, started a month ago. I don't do cold and live oop North

Just had mine on too and sat pretty much on top of the radiator....it was glorious

toastedcat · 06/10/2022 21:56

Yep. I've got a 3 month old baby, and I also have vasospasms in my nipples if they get cold. I have succumbed early to needing the heating on!

FallSky · 06/10/2022 21:58

Not yet but it's been very warm here for late Sep/ early October.

Indoctro · 06/10/2022 22:05

Log burner been on for weeks now, it's been heating whole downstairs and upstairs though

No oil heating used as yet.

DoingJustFine · 06/10/2022 22:11

Not Ted. Have started wearing a hat at home during the day, though, and hung a curtain over our drafty front door.

I use a dehumidifier to dry clothes inside. It works really well! Hopefully that's not too expensive to run?

AutumnalCosyness · 06/10/2022 22:17

It's not that cold yet so no 🤷🏻‍♀️

Handsoffmyrights · 06/10/2022 22:21

Not yet. It's around 16 of a morning, but reaches 18 in the day and is sunny. Making the most of saving while we can.

ThatsGoingToHurt · 06/10/2022 22:23

Yes, my heating has clicked on overnight. I’ve got an old roof and old windows which I cannot afford to replace until both kids are at school and I don’t have to worry about nursery fees. Every opportunity that it has been sunny I have ran outside to hang some washing out (I normally wfh 3 days per week) but sometimes that isn’t always possible. I’m fortunate in that I have been able to build up credit over the summer.

I grew up poor and cannot stand being cold first thing on the morning.

Asparagoose · 06/10/2022 22:24

I wouldn’t normally put the heating on but I came down with the flu, and I don’t want to be any more sick than I have to. Cold temperatures make you worse, particularly if you have a bad chest and are breathing cold air. So I’ve put the heating on temporarily but will have to turn it off again to compensate when I’m well enough.

HighlandPony · 06/10/2022 22:25

Nah. I like the cold. Even the kids don’t mind it.
