Just as title says really. I have not put the heating on so far. Just wondering its not my mindset that's actually preventing me or making me feel i dont need it.

I've put the electric towel radiator on a few times, just for a few hours before we get a shower or bath. Not had the proper heating on though

Comedycook · 06/10/2022 20:41

Not yet. We're in London... weather is still mild and our house is quite modern and doesn't get cold. It was lovely and sunny today...I tried to kid myself it is still summer!

thepriceoffish · 06/10/2022 20:44

No. Trying to hold out. It's getting g harder though and the washing isnt drying for days

mondaytosunday · 06/10/2022 20:49

No it's still pretty mild (London). In fact my back door is open for my pets.

tigger1001 · 06/10/2022 20:57

No not yet - generally try not to until clocks change. But although it's blustery here is not cold - just home and car is reading outdoor temp as 15 degrees. House is warm enough that it wouldn't trigger the heating anyway

Woolandwonder · 06/10/2022 21:00

2 X 1 hour yesterday and today. House felt really cold although it's not really that cold here yet. I have been under my heated blanket a lot though, but have built up a ridiculous amount of credit over summer so am not overly concerned at the moment.

Entwifery · 06/10/2022 21:02

We haven't put on the whole house heating yet, but we've used the gas fire in the living room a few evenings this week

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 06/10/2022 21:04

No, we’re up north but our house is a new build and it’s a constant 20.5° still. We went to PIL’s last weekend and it was so much colder than our house so thank god for good insulation!

iloveyankeecandle · 06/10/2022 21:06

Nope. Not needed too. Was 19.5oc upstairs. About an hour ago.

yeas, started a month ago. I don't do cold and live oop North

We must be neighbours

Quornflakegirl · 06/10/2022 21:07

Not yet, we’re in the West Country and it’s been warm. I’ve been regretting wearing a jumper by mid afternoon each day. We’d bake if we put the heating on now, our house is warm and well insulated thankfully.

I'm glad someone has flagged this. Do you all use dryers?!

ListenLinda · 06/10/2022 21:08

Yes, a couple of times. Today I was layered up, put a hoodie on and my hands and feet and arms still felt cold. Put it on for 1.5 hours at midday, it got a bit toasty, but the house had held the heat well and it feels nice and comfortable.

Kind of hoping that would be sufficient most days, but I doubt it will be.

FourChimneys · 06/10/2022 21:09

We have a friend who stays one night a week and she feels the cold. So we put it on for her but it's off for the rest of the week.

Just doing laundry on dry days so it can go outside. The towel rail goes on to keep the towels aired but that's all.

Mum2jenny · 06/10/2022 21:10

No, not cold enough, lounge is still 22.8 without any heating

No. I don’t have a dryer. It’s OK to hang things outside for me, though I had to bring the last lot inside to take the damp edge off -it started raining mid way through.

Skadia · 06/10/2022 21:13

I have heating early morning and in the evening. Our house is old and draughty. I dread to think of the cost but am ignoring it. We inherited a gas Aga when we got the house 😳

Mummylin · 06/10/2022 21:15

We have ordered a bio ethanol fire which is out of stock for another 3 weeks so until then we will prob put heating on for an hour or two in the evenings. Once we have the new heating we will only use central heating now and then to keep house damp free. We have fuel being delivered tomorrow in advance. It's a way that we can pay as we go instead of using the gas. I can't stand being cold.

tea1tea2 · 06/10/2022 21:15

@Realityloom yes i use dryer all the time throughout the winter and roughly about average 6/7 cycles per week but its energy efficient , my electricity bill is roughly £90/100 pm. Its not estimated bill. As prices have increased from October , I dont know whether I can carry on using it or have to minimise it. I have thought about putting a gazebo in the garden to dry clothes like other people suggested.

SnoopyNoseTits · 06/10/2022 21:16

We have ours on a thermostat and it’s kicked in a couple of times for half an hour or so a few times over the last few days

ODFOx · 06/10/2022 21:19

Not yet.
The DC are moaning but while they are wearing t shirt/crop top with no jumper and no slippers I'm taking their comments with a pinch of salt. Plus we're still sleeping with the windows open do it can't be that cold!

thepurplewhisperer · 06/10/2022 21:19

Thank goodness it's mild still. We have our back door open still during the day and in the evening I'm wearing an addition of a light cardigan.
No heating needed yet for us. We are south.

ScarletWitchM · 06/10/2022 21:20

We had some issues with the hot water so used that as an excuse to put the heating on for an hour the other day when it was cold. Also thought would be good idea to check it’s working ok before the winter comes.:.. turns out there was a problem so has cost an additional £400 to fix the boiler I now can barely afford to use 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

husbandcallsmepickle · 06/10/2022 21:21

No because it's been really mild

NoEffingWay · 06/10/2022 21:21

Nope, not yet. I am a proud owner of a hot water bottle and have been drying clothes on a rack and trying to ventilate the house so it doesn't get damp inside.

I am sort of missing heating and the tumble dryer but also looking forward to seeing the usage fall.
