Welcome to the March thread everyone.

The idea of the thread is to earn a bit of extra cash. There are a few ways to do this. I'm sure some of our regulars can add to this. But here's some ideas.

www.connect.appen.com this is a site where you can sign up for micro projects and some longer term projects.
www. crispthinking.com social media moderation
www.lionbridge.com projects
www.utest.com user testing
www.prolific.co surveys
www.intellizom.com short one off tasks
www.clickworker.com short one off tasks

I'm sure I've forgotten loads. If you want to look over previous months, there are loads of pervious threads in this section.

@StanleyR38 sorry not really any tips but when I did the test you could have the guidelines open so no need to try and memorise anything.

Tohaveandtohold · 27/03/2021 16:28

@TheLolaMontez, I find doing some work between 10 and 11 is good content wise. That’s what I’ve done for the past 3 evenings and I’ve almost met the minimum target now.

seizethecuttlefish · 27/03/2021 17:09

@Rad2016 from what I hear that's a good project. Definitely do the study and there's a practice thing you get access to. Put time aside and blast that. They are really strict on timings of when you get access to each bit. I did it when I joined the thread, a couple of years ago and failed spectacularly but it was my first ever online project and I don't think I was prepared for it.

@mrsrobin it depends on the project team and quality control. Can be up to six weeks. I did a few at the beginning of the month and keeping my fingers crossed. Check the project chat as people tend to know there.

@Adelais are you bank transfer? Mine came in on Tuesday too. I think the theory is that they do bigger amounts and work through the list but no idea if that's true. Did you get the invoice capture email (might only be bank)?

@TheLolaMontez it's back to being really quiet. I get a good run around 5pm. I think a few people have missed target and been kept on.

So glad this thread is still as busy and helpful as ever. Grin

I'm just about going to peel enough potatoes this month. Should do it today. I've been incredibly lazy. Definitely could have done more.

On the bright side I've downloaded the app, started doing The Organised Mum Method and my house has never been cleaner. DP keeps asking what I've broken. Grin

redgirl1 · 28/03/2021 10:15

@TheLolaMontez I missed the target in January due to home school and my main job, it was also pretty quiet when I did try and catch up. I emailed them to say I wouldn’t make it at the end of the month and explained why and they said in this occasion it was ok. So I’m still in

Hello, I'm a new convert to this thread and this approach to life! We have credit card debt from moving house and I'm determined to wipe it out this year. I've signed up for intelligzoom, proflic, qmee, and done some transcription work with rev. I can't get appen to work for me (login problems, no help from their it helpdesk, grr). I am not sure if I want to go ahead with Lion - I need to get a windows live ID.
But mainly I'm here to say: thanks for this thread! Thank you! Flowers

So, my question is does anyone do matched betting? I don't know anything about it and have always been suspicious of any kind of gambling, but this seems like it's not precisely gambling so much as ... gambling both ways?

I am reading this www.savethestudent.org/make-money/what-is-matched-betting.html and wondering: if you do matched betting, is this guide looking accurate? And have anyone actually made any money?

AnotherOne4 · 28/03/2021 11:54

Great to see new people adding their knowledge (and sometimes troubles/queries) to this thread.

I was concerned about Intellizoom - I was getting no work from them. I emailed to ask if there was a problem. They said my account was all good, and that I'll be notified when work is available. Still not had any though Sad

AnotherOne4 · 28/03/2021 12:02

Can I also add....it's nearly the end of the month Shock
This is the first month I've really kept track of everything, so I'm intrigued to tally up my earnings. I have no idea how much I've earnt, I know it's not much. I'd be over the moon with £120, but we shall see.....

Redcrayons · 28/03/2021 12:49

@feckinarse I did matched betting a couple of years ago and make £2k over a few months. It isn’t gambling at all. In simple terms, you are essentially betting on both outcomes of a match or race ie the Horse will win, the horse won’t won and they cancel each other out. One of your bets is a free bet and that’s how you make your money.
The only way you will lose money is if you make a mistake or get carried away and don’t lay your bets (ie only bet the horse will win). I’ve read stories of people coming unstuck this way.
I subscribed to a site which listed all the offers with exact instructions on what to do and more than made the fee back every month.
Downsides for me is how time consuming it is. A lot of the sites play on how you make money for a few minutes per day. Whilst it’s true the actual betting part is pretty quick once you know what you’re doing, you can’t really dip in and out when you feel like it. All the offers and football games take place at the weekend, so I was spending half my Saturday reading offers and placing bets. And when the bookies get wind of what you’re doing, they stop sending you offers and there’s no money to be made with them or it’s a lot more difficult.

My advice would be to throughly research so you know what you’re doing. And if you’ve got any kind of additive personality, then swerve it completely.

Smashedpotatoes · 28/03/2021 14:09

Hello everyone, I've been watching from afar for a while, and signed up to a few bits like prolific a while ago.

I want to properly take the plunge and try to go for £10 a day though. As finally have a little free childcare for my youngest. Not enough for a job, but enough to have an hour or so a day to do something. I have signed up to App** and am just waiting to hear whether I've been selected for a few different projects (they're the low level ones).

However, I have no idea how to add my PayPal details (maybe this only comes up after I qualify for my first project?) or how to apply for larger projects (or do these just come up over time after I've done a few successfully). Sorry for all the questions...!

Hi all! I've had quite an interesting and varied month with A*n. Re invoicing - if anything is missing do I hold off submitting the whole thing until they're on there? I have a nice amount from Pk I don't want to be held up by Nn and Nn not posting invoices. I have raised tickets for what's missing but no joy as yet.

I would submit just before the deadline either way.
PandemicPalava · 28/03/2021 16:57

Thanks. First time submitting, is the deadline the third?

bookgirl1982 · 28/03/2021 17:40

@PandemicPalava deadline is the 6th with Easter hols - see the pinned post in social for the times.

MiddlesexGirl · 28/03/2021 17:58

@notgreenfingers

I have been selected for project New*um on Appen. When I click on "work this" it takes me to the project homepage which says the project takes place on an external tool and to refer to the guidelines in my invitation email (there are no guidelines on there!) My question is...Do I need to select the ADAP tab to create an account in the task tool in order to proceed with this? First Appen task so no idea what I'm doing really Blush
I've had exactly the same with a slightly different project. I have signed up to the Task platform and that hasn't made a difference. I've sent emails to the support about a few other things and had prompt and helpful replies but it does seem like every stage needs an email in order to progress. The project is a once a week survey and I'm wondering if I just have to wait for whatever day of the week it runs? I'm going to have a look on the 'social tab - see if my question is answered there and if not it will be another email!
PandemicPalava · 28/03/2021 18:24

Thanks so much

StanleyR38 · 28/03/2021 18:25

For the Ap*n Facebook surveys you’ll get an email with a link that directs you to the survey within Ap*n. Sure I get one every Monday, but it isn’t always first thing, think it tends to be later in the evening.

seizethecuttlefish · 28/03/2021 19:09

@feckinarse I did it for a bit last year and made a decent profit but it took my ages to put a bet on. I know a few people that have done well at it. Look up Team Profit. They're really helpful and worth joining.

@Smashedpotatoes I could be wrong but I think Ap only pay via Payoneer. Someone else might be able to advise. Mine just goes to the bank via Payoneer.

Can't believe we're nearly at month end!

notgreenfingers · 28/03/2021 19:20

Thanks to everyone who's given me good advice, really appreciate people taking the time to help.
Hadn't realised there was a social chat on Appen so will sign up for that and maybe that will help my learning curve Smile

Smashedpotatoes · 28/03/2021 19:43

Thanks @seizethecuttlefish I thought I saw that mentioned somewhere, but then saw PayPal mentioned somewhere else on their site, but that must have been out of date. That's really helpful, I'll go sign up to payoneer. I'm finding it hard to figure out the site at first, but hoping I'll get used to it sooner or later!

AnotherOne4 · 28/03/2021 19:47

My Appen gets paid to Payoneer then automatically transferred to Paypal.

Match betting is risk free providing you don’t make any silly errors eg not paying attention and placing the lay bet on the wrong team (yes, I have done that...). I use team profit as it’s free and their advice is easy to follow. I am taking a break now as I only really bet on football and in April I want to get back to the gym and my two volunteer roles. I don’t want to spend my time placing in play bets etc. However, it has been a lucrative sideline during lockdown when the days were dark and miserable!

PandemicPalava · 29/03/2021 19:44

Hi all! Just got an email from Ln br - does anyone have any experience working for them? Looks very interesting. Wondering about payment terms - seem long - 60
Working days before payment, so that's 3 months? Is this right does anyone know or do they class weekends as working days, so 2 months?
