I missed it! Grr, was doing a transcription task and clicked the second I'd finished my batch and it was already gone.

Sonmi451 · 13/08/2020 21:44

Aaaaaand.... it's a "No" from Rev.

Actually starting to think this isn't worth the bother.

Wolfff · 13/08/2020 21:45

I had a bath and missed it completely!

Rad2016 · 13/08/2020 21:50

you didn't miss much guys. Lasted for about 20 mins. I was on laptop when email came

Flube · 13/08/2020 23:02

Shame. I quite like B*ne once you get into a rhythm. Hope we'll get a big batch soon. 🤞

I really need a huge kick up the arse, I've not kept up with it all throughout lockdown but would like to get back on track now I know that the DC will be soon back at school. Will free up a bit of time to hopefully get arse into gear.

Flube · 13/08/2020 23:13

Tasks are available on LB.

WonderTweek · 13/08/2020 23:20

@Flube what job are you doing? I have nothing and it worries me a bit because I don't want to get kicked out for not doing anything, but there's nothing to do. Confused

Flube · 13/08/2020 23:27

Internet safety assessor. @WonderTweek

Flube · 13/08/2020 23:40

@WonderTweek Have you been logging in to check for tasks? I don't always get the email alerts. If you've logged in at least and there's nothing then I don't think they will kick you.

MrsWombat · 14/08/2020 06:43

@Rad2016 The info is listed on the project page (I wouldn't normally take that as gospel) but also someone from the project is answering questions in the project chat.

WonderTweek · 14/08/2020 08:38

@Flube Thanks for your reply. I'm doing a different one, but I'm manically checking the hub multiple times a day because I really want to do the tasks, but there's nothing there. But we shall see! Maybe I'll drop them a message and just check. But it does seem that because of Covid etc all online work is really popular so I'm not surprised if there isn't enough work for everyone! I have seen another job on their site that sounds interesting so I might apply and see what happens.

WonderTweek · 14/08/2020 08:45

@Sonmi451 Don't be too discouraged. It does seem like you have to do quite a bit of digging the first couple of months to find the right sites and get accepted to projects. I'm still trying to find proper project work so I can actually start making money. I have just started doing some training bits for Rev and they are so strict with everything so I think a lot of people don't pass the initial test. I've read that you can get kicked out really easily for minor mistakes, so I fully expect to finish my training, start my first actual job and get booted out. 😅 I am looking into other transcription sites though - I'll post links if I come across any good ones.

Sonmi451 · 14/08/2020 10:39

Thanks @WonderTweek.

I keep looking at LB but I can't see any active jobs, not sure if I'm looking at the right thing, it looks more like permanent positions that I'm in no way qualified for.

WonderTweek · 14/08/2020 10:45

I had the same issue. Try this: careers.lionbridge.com/careers-at-lionbridge-ai/?_ga=2.242196802.1980088158.1597398101-432198249.1593648255 and then click "view all jobs". You should be able to search the jobs so you can check the languages and countries you are interested in. Smile

Tinging · 14/08/2020 11:01

@WonderTweek once you get to Revver level if you mess up and your metrics drop you do get a warning before they sack you. I'm just ending my warning period after making a couple of silly formatting mistakes which dropped things right down. It's been 12 weeks and they have checked almost every job I've done whereas not on a warning I was checked around 1/5.

ifuckarses · 14/08/2020 11:09

Am I just really bad at transcription or is Rev very poorly paid when working out your hourly rate?

Tinging · 14/08/2020 11:40

@ifuckarses I'm on captioning which I think is slightly higher pay than transcription but more time and work required. The hourly rate for me is pretty rubbish, I only do it if there's nothing else around and I fancy a change. I think you'd have to be a pretty fast typist and know the style guide very well to earn a decent rate.

ifuckarses · 14/08/2020 11:49

@Tinging I'm qualified for both, but I'm only a rookie captioner so don't see many jobs. Might try to get my Revver status as I prefer it to transcription.

Azerothi · 14/08/2020 11:50

@ifuckarses

I have been with Rev about six months and like Tingling only do it when there isn't anything else and I fancy a break from Appen. The rates are poor so I just keep it ticking over.

Unihorn · 14/08/2020 14:32

Anyone else waiting on this month's potato invoice? I know it's within 10 days but seems particularly tight this month...

ScorpioSphinxInACalicoDress · 14/08/2020 14:42

Uni, I haven't had one yet.

0htooooodles · 14/08/2020 15:03

@Unihorn Just had mine come through

Unihorn · 14/08/2020 15:07

Mine came through minutes after that message Grin

ScorpioSphinxInACalicoDress · 14/08/2020 15:52

So did mine Grin

MrsWombat · 14/08/2020 16:16

My Crisp invoice was a bit more than I was expecting. Grin
