@Horehound neevo used to send you a note via PayPal to say what you've been paid. I file them and track my earnings in a spreadsheet. Remember to include any fees etc if you withdraw it to your bank account. I've only done one tax return and they didn't ask for anything but I kept it anyway.

Horehound · 08/08/2020 20:55

Yeh but let's say I just didn't file a tax form, how would HMRC know I've made any money from Neevo?!

I mean I have a job and am paid 40k so I do pay tax. I'm just wondering since Neevo don't seem to issue payslips how HMRC would know if you're screwing them over or not?

Also, is it £1k through being self employed or since I earn money through my normal job would i have to start it from any money earnt at all from Neevo?

Wolfff · 08/08/2020 21:26

@WonderTweek

I think they call it trading on the website but it’s Self Assessment you want!

Wolfff · 08/08/2020 21:32

@Horehound

I know a lot about HMRC. They receive information from businesses and financial institutions worldwide, they also have access to PayPal, bank info etc from the UK. Don’t risk it. It could work out very expensive. You will have to pay the money back and a large penalty.

The £1000 comes off your Self Employed income, it’s an allowance. It is irrelevant if you already earn £40k from your PAYE.

Horehound · 08/08/2020 22:11

@Wolfff ok so I start a fresh with a 1k allowance?
Thank you for the info :)

Wolfff · 08/08/2020 23:31

@Horehound

Yes. When you fill in your tax return you enter the figures from your P60. You pay tax on your self employed earnings less the £1000 at the basic rate.

MonaLisaDoesntSmile · 09/08/2020 07:46

@Wolfff Can I ask you a quick question about something- as I mentioned I am on maternity, totally planning to pay taxes on whatever I would earn, but obviously can't technically work while I am on leave. Could I technically do some earning on the side and declare them when I'm back from maternity in a few months time? Or do HMRC get the data in real time and it's not worth risking?

peelpeelthebanana · 09/08/2020 09:09

I'm feeling a bit dim. I've just done the UHRS assessment on clickworker and set up my UHRS account... and now I can't work out how to reach it. Blush Is there a link somewhere on clickworker that I'm missing?

Azerothi · 09/08/2020 09:24

@peelpeelthebanana

On mine the link is in amongst the 'normal' work links. Just says UHRS.

Horehound · 09/08/2020 09:41

There's been nothing on UHRS for ages :(

Is anyone else recieving emails from Neevo about the 1-2word speech thing? I did 59 tasks and then got the no more tasks icon then I've since received three emails asking me to do it but then I click it and there's no tasks that show up

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 09/08/2020 09:51

I have earned one dollar on Clickworker in the past week. It is beyond dead.

Ran out of 'entertainment' phrases on Neevo at just below 2000 so not exactly a big earner. Haven't done the one-two word speech thing @Horehound.

peelpeelthebanana · 09/08/2020 09:52

Ah ok, so it just shows in the normal work section when there are jobs? Thanks, @Azerothi.

I haven't been sent that job, @Horehound. I wish they had a live dashboard system that showed you which jobs actually had tasks available. I feel like I waste so much time opening up jobs only to find there are no tasks.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 09/08/2020 10:00

I can think of lots of ways in which the Neevo dashboard could be markedly improved (although it's better than it was when I first started back in April).

peelpeelthebanana · 09/08/2020 10:32

Yeah, no kidding.

Baby89 · 09/08/2020 10:38

With Neevo do they have lots of work , eg I’ve bern reading through the past threads that Neevo has phone calls quite often , is that the case and what else do they do?

Wolfff · 09/08/2020 10:50

@MonaLisaDoesntSmile

I think the reason that you are not allowed to freelance is that your employer is paying you precisely because you have exercised your right not to work on maternity. I assume you are breaking the terms of your employment - I think you are only allowed to work the 10 KIT days.

I am NOT an expert in this area and you may want to try and find a source that is. Earnings definitely impact on benefits of all sorts.

All you have to do for income from Appen, Crisp and the others is declare your total income (not the individual companies) for the tax year on your Self Assessment so you can be taxed on it.

At the point of submission it is just a total figure not a breakdown by month - while it's possible HMRC might open an enquiry into you or your employer - and some enquiries are random - it's unlikely.

I think the main risk would be your employer finding out, rather than tax consequences.

peelpeelthebanana · 09/08/2020 11:14

I've only been working on Neevo jobs for a month, but I can let you know the kind of things I've seen come up. They fall into two categories - data creationcollection and data validation/correction.

Examples of creation tasks are semi scripted phonecalls simulating call centre interactions, recording specific phrases for digital assistants/chat bots, uploading images...think that's all I've come across.

For the validation/correction, I've seen transcription validation and correction, image validation, text validation (coherence and relevance)...think that's it. Just a small timeframe for a sample, so I don't know how representative that is, but hope it helps to give you an idea.

peelpeelthebanana · 09/08/2020 11:15

Oh and a job involving analysing and tagging parts of a text. Ridiculously badly explained and poorly paid so I avoided it.

Baby89 · 09/08/2020 11:39

@peelpeelthebanana, thank you for replying , I did some 0.02$ one yesterday but by evening it was no longer tasks available - I did about 500. A lot of the tasks not worth it as they claim that quality not good etc when the guidelines given are useless to follow- I found clickworker ‘hey rigo’ Was useless pay - I was offered the very same thing for $25

screwthepyramids · 09/08/2020 14:27
@hoolahoolahoop you don't necessarily have to be good. All you need to be good at is keeping the chat going. Some agents are shockingly bad, some I have noticed will not even entertain sex talk. They will turn the conversation away from that subject. See how you go, if it's not for you then you can just bin it and move on to something else.
Can I ask is it just text or is their phone calls involved also? I'm looking into this as well

GachaBread · 09/08/2020 14:46

@screwthepyramids no phone calls involved all done by typing a message out via your laptop. I use a cloud book.

choccychar · 09/08/2020 15:41

@screwthepyramids @GachaBread
Unfortunately I applied whenever it was last week/week before (all a blur!) and they said unfortunately they've had loads of interest at the moment and weren't taking people on at the moment.
I also ticked I had experience as this was before I knew it was that kind of chat!!!!😳I thought it was customer service.... ooops
