I’ve mentioned many times in here how much I disapprove of publishing photos of children on completely open social media accounts.

Children have a right to anonymity and privacy. The parents who share photos in the way Castle and Uber do are making a huge mistake. In the future their children may ask them why they thought they had the right to do that. The lucky ones are those who have been allowed to grow up without their images being shared with the world.

Children are becoming more aware of their online identity and are more often savvy than their parents

Wasn't there a celebrity whose daughter laid into them for continuing to share photos of them despite being asked not to?

I think children complaining about sharenting is going to get more common. Image has always been such an important part of identity (clothes, hair, shoes etc) and social media is now part of image and identity (for better or for worse) - nobody wants someone else controlling their image... Fair enough if you have employed a stylist or PR specialist to manage your image but that is not what is happening between kids/parents. Parents are determining their kids image and using them as part of their own image/identity. I'm sure it is going to be causing issues in the future for family dynamics.

FFS. A friend whom I have a lot of respect for, who is openly very scathing about mlms and often posts anti mlm stuff on her social media, has just announced she's joined body shop at home. Why?!

That’s the one that seems to remain under the radar as people like the products and it was established pre MLM

She's also been constantly breaking lockdown rules and doing eyebrows there so that may be part of it.

Because she hasn’t really understood what MLM is? I find this with people who build a scale of MLM evil with Body Shop and Neals Yard at one end and Herbalife at the other; failing to understand that aside from a different lingo they are much the same (Especially in terms of outcomes for sign ups). I felt this was very much the type of thinking the DG of the DSA UK was employing or trying to appeal to in her Woman’ Hour appearance and other places I’ve read her misunderstandings. I’ve noticed that where she is quoted she’s keen to stick to examples of British organisations that have a high street presence or are relatively small. It fits in with the “direct selling” narrative of nice ladies sharing recognisable (and therefore “legit“) product and making a nice bit of extra money and making friends, rather than MLM (a phrase she wants banned as”misrepresenting” direct selling) exploiting the social network women have. She never ever talks about some of the more prominent DSA members like FLP, Modere etc.

It’s people like your friend @Bluewavescrashing who are getting swept up in the current situation by this positioning of a known British brand as somehow safer than “MLM” - we know different don’t we? :(

I wonder what the board of the DSA thought about theIf DG trying to persuade the listeners of the Woman’s Hour programme that the DSA wanted to move away from the MLM label in favour of the term “direct selling”? Don’t worry! We can describe MLM as direct sales too - mud sticks.

I’m quite interested in the DG - another reason to dismantle the honours system; I can’t for the life of me see an element of public service or major contribution that isn’t entirely commercially self-serving, so why the OBE? I’m hoping if the CoronaVirus crisis has taught us anything, it’s taught us who gives the most valuable contribution to society - we haven’t been relying on Sir Philip of Monaco or the DG of DSA/small business expert have we? Let’s hope (if we must have an honours system at all) it can start to soley recognise people making unselfish contributions for society’s good (not pension strippers, well remunerated civil servants and pyramid promoters). Sorry... off topic!

Always a good one to use when you run out of things to post about and need some interaction (rather than just a few Likes) and adoration.

Absolutely nothing.

What these amazing ladies are doing is trying to better their life and their families lives. They took an incredible opportunity and worked their tails off to get to where they are. Yes they post on Facebook, (so do billions of other people on the planet), it's 2020 get with the times !! BUSINESSES ARE CHANGING. Most of them now turn to social media to build their businesses and take them to the next level. ❤️

The next time you see a woman posting her status promoting her products/business instead of rolling your eyes, give her a like, give her a share or even comment on her post and say "good job". 👌
Because at least she is out there trying to improve her life. She might not have the means for childcare, she might be trying to pay medical bills or supplement her family's income💜
It may not be the career path you chose, but she did.
All these women are trying to create a future.

They are not trying to SCAM anyone. They have not been BRAINWASHED. They are not SHOWING OFF. They are not trying to PUSH their stuff on you.

It's network marketing. What the future is turning to!!!

They are showing/telling people about their opportunity, that they believe in! Just like when people share their favourite Starbucks drink on facebook or what they are eating for dinner🍕🍲🌮🍟
