Is that UK only, Moneyshed? :)

themoneyshed · 29/01/2020 19:10

@BertieBotts

Aye for UK folk only

BertieBotts · 29/01/2020 19:12

OK, thought so :o

I have found a workaround to upload my test files so I can finish the uTest practice. Yay! Can't sign up for any more until next week though but hopefully internet will be fixed by then.

Catatemyhomework · 29/01/2020 19:33

Bloody hell, I've just had an saying I've been accepted by Rev. Can't believe it. It's been a while since I did the test. Hope they're not as bad as their reviews!

BamboozledandBefuddled · 29/01/2020 20:01

Referral for Trading 212 if wanted. I got a free share in Ford. DH studied my app and said couldn't they have given me BMW 🙄

Create a Trading212Invest account using this link www.trading212.com/invite/FMEuMwPh and we both get a free share!

ZetaPuppis · 29/01/2020 20:13

@Catatemyhomework oh wow! Well done. Maybe there’s a chance I’ll get one soon too? Let’s see...

Catatemyhomework · 29/01/2020 20:20

Fingers crossed for you @zetaPuppis. I'm reading through the guidelines now.

Lougle · 29/01/2020 20:33

Well done you successful people! I'm juggling bits on UTest. No word from Rev. Appen not ready for me yet.

SpirallingThroughAnotherDay · 29/01/2020 20:40

@Catatemyhomework well done! I got the Rev pass email too, I'm actually shocked!! ... I really wasn't holding out much hope with that one Grin

ZetaPuppis · 29/01/2020 20:46

@SpirallingThroughAnotherDay well done to you too! I’ve been refreshing my emails but I think I submitted my transcript a couple of days after a few of you.

lannister · 29/01/2020 20:47

If anyone hasn't joined Airtime Rewards, it's an app where you can redeem money off your mobile phone bill for simply doing your normal spending with retailers. Please use my code: RCMBHTMC to sign up. We both get 50p SmileThanks.

Catatemyhomework · 29/01/2020 20:52

Well done @SpirallingThroughAnotherDay, I am reading the guidelines. Not going to start anything tonight though as too tired! Is is normal to feel really nervous when you've been offered work by people you haven't worked for before? I'm worried I will mess up my first one or have some really bad audio or something. I'm always really relaxed when I do Neevo stuff but feel more anxious about Rev.

anxiouswaiting · 29/01/2020 21:19

Anyone who did the Rev test recently did you have to totally rewrite the text in the transcription test?

Instructions portray it as an editing exercise but the text is totally different to the content to edit.

I e-mailed them and they have replied saying they changed the audio file recently so thats why ita different and I am allowed to delete all the text and just transcribe what I hear.

Not sure I will bother though, seems like a lot more work than I should be doing based on what the task should be.

Lougle · 29/01/2020 21:31

No, I had to edit what was there.

Boobahs · 29/01/2020 21:35

@anxiouslywaiting When I did it, there was a huge chunk in the middle that was spoken but no text matched what was being said. I typed up what I heard, thinking that was part of the test! I failed though so it can't have been Sad

Took me bloody ages to keep listening back as well

ZetaPuppis · 29/01/2020 21:54

I only had to edit too.

BertieBotts · 29/01/2020 22:11

I just had to edit, there were a few sections of text which were totally missing and needed transcribing in full, but mostly editing what was there. But I failed so I must have got some of it wrong!

It would have been nice to have a pointer of what I failed on, but never mind. There was a bit near the end, I can't remember what it said now but it was a word where you can add un- as a prefix to make the opposite, for example successful/unsuccessful. The audio definitely made sense as "successful", but it sounded like "unsuccessful" to me. I was conscious of their guidance to write down what you hear rather than what you think you should hear so I wrote "unsuccessful" even though it didn't make sense, but that was the bit I agonised over the most. I want to know if it was wrong now :o

Catatemyhomework · 29/01/2020 22:22

I honestly can't remember. I think I edited what was there primarily. I do remember having to use google to check the names and spellings of companys and I also had to check the name of a CEO I think. There was a paragraph I had to write myself from scratch, but most of it was spelling, punctuation and grammar.

SimplyBlue · 29/01/2020 22:52

I finally heard back from Rev and I passed! I see that @patapouf did too. Well done! I hope it brings in some money.

From what I remember anxious there was quite a lot of editing but also a chunk of text missing in the middle that I had to write in.

Catatemyhomework · 29/01/2020 23:19

Well done @SimplyBlue. I hope it goes well for us. I am slightly worried though having read some of the reviews, but I guess we'll find out soon enough.

ilovepixie · 29/01/2020 23:41

Does anyone have any good survey sites please!

rosamoschata · 30/01/2020 00:26

January update- my first month

1.	Passed C r is p , on the waiting list obvs not holding breath
2. 14 active processes on Ap’’n and some incomprehensible messages, one of which is stuck there preventing me from looking at any new processes or even knowing what I’ve signed up for, a few of which looked interesting.
3.	Passed Rev fwiw, just heard yesterday. I did the test a couple of weeks ago, when someone on here said they were hiring.
4.	£24.50 on Prolific, obsessively refreshing and reopening it at supermarket checkouts, car parks etc. Interesting surveys but so few and far between and like others here I hate not being notified.
5.	Testable Minds a couple of dollars, again interesting academic surveys
6.	Prolific better than the £2.50 on QMEE - boring surveys that pay literally pennies.
7.	UTest I’ve done a bit of the U test academy, feel I’m getting somewhere but how it works is quite opaque and I’m put off by you lot who are more advanced not finding the bugs. I’ll plod on with it for now.
8.	£25.00 or so on 20Cogs as I got a £15 sign up bonus from here.

emmadrew.info/get-15-free/]]
NB the £15 offer runs out at midnight on 31st January.
But I’ve got a way to go before I can cash it out. I’ve already had to struggle to extricate myself from some Lotto gaming thing that I stupidly chose as an option and it immediately started texting me.

6 Matched betting - I did a free week with Profit Accumulator, watched the excellent super clear videos, got my new bank account and new debit card, can now speak the lingo of
lay bets and back bets at a beginner level. Next I’ll get the £1 week with Profit accumulator and then I’ll sign up and pay the monthly fee. It’s worth it to me to have my hand held and get that level of support. 94% Excellent or Great on Trustpilot is very reassuring. It’s quite exciting to be doing something so far out of my comfort zone. Not that I’ve actually made a bet yet but I’m getting closer...

7 BeMyEye I’m fed up with how feeble I am about this. Last week it showed about £75 available in my local area as that big Pet shop one had upped the rate to £35 to get it done, along with a number of local impulse ones. I knew even then this was 3x more than I’d earned on prolific in 3 weeks with maniacal refreshing, but I just couldn’t bring myself to sign up for it. I just haven’t got the nerve. If I’m going to do it I think I’ll have to start going Into those stores and learning the lingo of the layout of the goods. At the moment every single aspect of it is new to me. It doesn’t help that none of the photos show on my phone where it says Do it like this, see photo.

8 Neevo and clickworker - zero jobs.

So I haven’t earned much but I’ve definitely learnt a huge amount and I’m feeling really positive about what next month might bring.

And let’s hope Rev turns out better than we’ve been led to believe!
