I know there have been numerous threads on this topic, but I have struggled to understand how to go about getting started. The more I read about it the more overwhelmed I become. Spreadsheets, separate bank accounts , odds, blah blah . It may as well be quantum mechanics!
I need the money for a specific reason so I need to get to grips with it all and get started. I am an intelligent person, I just need to persevere.
I would really appreciate some very basic advice. I know about OddsMonkey and other sites. I have watched the videos and understand the basic concept, but then I am lost. I don't want to make mistakes and lose money.
Help!

Do Betfair withdrawals take a notoriously long time? I withdrew £200 late on Monday evening to my card and it's still not credited my account!

jjemimapuddleduck · 18/01/2019 09:22

All other withdrawals (bookies) have taken approx. 2.5 days (withdraw Tues eve, in acc. Fri morning for example).

Ineedtonamechangenow · 18/01/2019 12:40

Been reading up on this the past few weeks and really tempted to give it a go. Hoping it might help speed up so early debt pay off

FreckledLeopard · 18/01/2019 15:59

@ChakiraChakra - I think you have to accept that gubbings are inevitable. Some bookies let you hammer them for years without a gubbing. Others gub you after your first bet. Some gub you before you've even deposited funds.

You can try and avoid things like arbing. Avoid the Bet365 racing offers as horses tend to get you gubbed quicker. Other than that though, I think you just need to smash the bookies as hard as you can and get as much money and then move on to the next one.

ChakiraChakra · 18/01/2019 17:44

Thanks.

The quidco thing, have those of you who have used it (and received the cashback ok) for betfair used the £10 in a single go? I can't find any restrictions on if it had to be lay or back, or in a single go or e.g. 2 x £5. I've been using quidco for free offers today, have amassed £9 and if I've done the gala bingo one properly should have another £50 but I'm a bit worried it's not gone through properly, as it didn't seem to take me directly to site the first time, so clicked quidvo link a second time, and loaded and spent the required money but the rules are a bit hard to understand and, well, if I've lost it it's only a fiver.

Deposited £10 tonight on heart bingo and cashed out £24 when I ran out of free games.
So far this week I’m £54 up.

Zofloramummy · 18/01/2019 21:00

I’ve done the gala bingo too.

ChakiraChakra · 18/01/2019 23:09

Well I got an email from quidco saying gala bingo had been tracked so fingers crossed!

Zofloramummy · 19/01/2019 08:49

How long did it take to get the email? I purchased last night but no email this morning so far.

ChakiraChakra · 19/01/2019 08:52

It took way longer than the others (I did about 5 quidco offers throughout the course of the day yesterday). Maybe 9 hours? I think I was just being impatient and nervous as that was the only one I'd actually speculated money on Grin

Zofloramummy · 19/01/2019 09:51

Still no email but according to the site it can be up to 24hrs.

Anyone doing the WH golden goal offer again today? (@jjemimapuddleduck Grin)

Thinking of back arsenal.. current QL is £1.50ish

jjemimapuddleduck · 19/01/2019 11:03

Hello!

So I have lots and lots of ££ tied up in lots of matches today & tomorrow. I've deliberately not put any bets on after tomorrow so that I can see how it all pans out. I am keeping a spreadsheet but I'm getting a bit lost already so I just want to reassess things on Sunday evening.

I have also put a bet on the WH GG today (£12.50), Chelsea to score first. If Chelsea score first then Arsenal win, I'll get £27.89, otherwise it's a loss of £0.86. However I have negated this (I hope) by backing and laying a WH price Boost at £5, which should net a profit of £0.85 regardless of outcome. I may well have done all that to make precisely nothing, but worth a shot I think. If i can do that most seekends and only win one every so often, it'll be worth it.

jjemimapuddleduck · 19/01/2019 11:05

Ah hello @Coppermine! Please see above. Do you want details? When I put this bet on this morning, it was cheaper to back Chelsea to score first as loss would be less (but obviously less likely!).

jjemimapuddleduck · 19/01/2019 11:08

Also re. Chelsea:-

  • Chelsea have opened the scoring in 8 of their 10 away league games so far this season
  • Arsenal league fixtures this season average 3.55 goals per game

However...

  • Chelsea are unbeaten in their last 4 league games
Coppermine · 19/01/2019 11:11

How did you decide on £12.50 stake for Chelsea? OM suggest using 50/(back odds-1) so I got a £45 stake for Chelsea. So QL was higher.

Where do you get your other stats from previous games? That is super helpful!

jjemimapuddleduck · 19/01/2019 11:11

Could you do the WH GG offer and then try and negate any potential loss with a price boost?

jjemimapuddleduck · 19/01/2019 11:17

I dont have OM so I just worked out what I could afford to deposit in William Hill (deposited £20 and used £12.50 on GG then £5 on PB, £2.50 left in account for now to look like a real better!) and how much liability (£46.25) I could deposit into Smarkets for both lay bets. I am absolutely brassic as I have around £500 of my own cash tied up this weekend so this is how I came to that figure!

The stats came from a Betfred email - NOT my own work!

Coppermine · 19/01/2019 12:55

Ok I've backed Chelsea, £35 stake with QL £1.82

I can't find a price boost for the game though.

jjemimapuddleduck · 19/01/2019 13:18

Very small but here's the one I used.

Was £0.85 when I did it, now about £0.55 I think (£5 max. stake)

Might help recoup any loss.

Coppermine · 19/01/2019 13:43

Oh I thought you meant a price boost for the Chelsea game. That's ok then, I've got some other profitable bets on today so doesn't really matter if I lose £2 again on the GG. I guess with this/2ups eventually you should get a big win. Bit like low risk casino.

Coppermine · 19/01/2019 17:45

Should have backed Arsenal 😫😫
