I've started this the absence of anyone else starting a thread on the subject and since the Chat thread will disappear in a month. Hope you think it's in the right place.

I'm still dithering which is annoying me. I've made a new e-mail - hope to get bank account this week. I keep looking at the different websites like Bonus Bagging and Profit Accumulator etc and can't decide between them. Put off by what Tawny said about Profit Maximiser and don't trust myself to do it without help so going for Bonus Bagging, i think.

likeaZombie on the Oddsmatcher - I think the "type" column is the market, so "Match odds" for football means the result of the game after 90 minutes (the column before will have which team to bet on). Instead of that there could be "correct score" or "over under" where you're betting on something like more than 2.5 goals scored or less than 2.5 goals scored, "both teams to score" or BTTS yes/no is another one. Sometimes you're looking for the half time result. There's lots of different things to bet on just for the one football match. Make sure you match up what you've backed and laid or they could both win or (worse) both lose.

I panicked when I didn't know what 1 x 2 was and that's the simplest type.

amazingamy09 · 01/12/2016 23:22

Thank you, it was my online cookies making it not come up - now just have to hope I've done it right! Oh well, I'll know Saturday!

tonymac84 · 02/12/2016 14:40

@Karcheer Hi again, do you mean matchedbets looks too good to be true or the act of matched betting itself? lol

That particular calculator is really handy and has lots of advanced options. It's saying what you 'could' lay for the particular bet type (normal/free bet/bonus/etc).

With matched betting you tend to be looking for roughly 80% of the free bet value as a cash profit, so £10 becomes £8 cash. Yes, just work through them. I think they're set up in a suitable order to get used to things

tonymac84 · 02/12/2016 14:41

Fingers crossed for you @amazingamy09 - Let us know how it goes Smile

amazingamy09 · 03/12/2016 22:49

Yay, I did it right! I don't think I've ever been so chuffed for 8 quid haha! Now to find another offer :D I've worked through the free step by steps on oddsmatcher, going to have a google for some more :D

sunnysidesucks · 04/12/2016 23:12

I've been doing this for about 4/5 months, and have made just over £2k! I'm finding the football much easier now, and I know nothing about football, but I'm finding the horses much more complicated! Can't get my head around the horse reloads!

GardeningWithDynamite · 05/12/2016 09:09

Sunnysidesucks - you're doing a lot better than me. I've done a lot of the sign-up offers now, but haven't really started the ongoing things. I need to learn how to do those and how to take advantage of the casino and bingo ones. Do you do a lot of those? If so, is there a guide to how it works? (for complete dummies if possible Xmas Blush )

tonymac84 · 05/12/2016 12:57

@amazingamy09 well done, are you feeling confident with it now?

tonymac84 · 05/12/2016 13:05

@sunnysidesucks & @GardeningWithDynamite the principles are pretty much the same with reloads - You're still looking for a close match to keep the qualifying loss (QL) to a minimum. The QL is effectively your stake and you're trying to win a free bet. With horse racing this can be for anything from your horse finishing 2nd in a race to backing a winner at certain odds.

For example; lets say your QL is 20p for a £20 bet on a 5/1(6.00) winner on Betfair's 3/1+ offer. A 20p bet at those odds would return a measly £1.20 but the MB method gets you a £20 free bet which can be converted into £16 cash. So I'm sure you can see the value of reload offers going forward?

amazingamy09 · 05/12/2016 19:57

Slight MB emergency - I'm looking on my Betfair and one of my bets isn't showing up! Does it go glitchy sometimes or have I somehow just forgotten to put it on!? It's due to start in 5 minutes!

amazingamy09 · 05/12/2016 20:09

Omg ignore me, I was looking at today's bets, not the weeks. How embarrassing!

amazingamy09 · 05/12/2016 20:36

@tonymac84 thank you! I wouldn't say I'm confident yet, but I think I'm getting more used to it.

I've gone through the matchedbets.com William Hill offer guide, the Oddsmonkey Coral and Skybet offer guide, and am halfway through the Ladbrokes Bank of bets offer guide.

I found the Oddsmonkeys and matchedbets sites to be ok, though I find the Bankofbets website hard to navigate.

Does anyone else know of any free offer guides with the comparisons between the exchange and the bookmakers, or should I maybe just sign up to somewhere?

many thanks in advance for any advice

sunnysidesucks · 05/12/2016 21:54

@gardening I do the 'easy' reloads. I understand the football ones, but I'm not really sure if some are worth it and because I don't understand football I have no idea how worth doing they are!

I'm starting on the horses - need to understand a bit more first.

I do do some casino offers/bingo which have been v lucrative!

@amazingamy I had a slight panic too at a similar time to you! I did the wrong lay bet and had to do another back bet but I think i sorted it out! no free bet for me tho on the match this eve :(

@tonymac it seems the QL is quite high >£1 on a lot of the horses offers? that's where I'm not confident enough to take the plunge yet.

tonymac84 · 06/12/2016 15:30

@amazingamy09 I think any matched bettor has had a panic of some sort, especially early on and they'd be fibbing if they said otherwise :)

Never tried bankofbets , so can't comment there. I've stuck with matchedbets because I like the layout and that everything gets tracked which is a nice time saver. Plus, you can easily keep tabs on your profits. I also find everything to update quicker than OM.

I went for the annual subscription and it paid for itself within a week (I did a lot of signups to begin with). It's entirely up to you but I'd say finding wherever you're comfortable and signing up is best, as you'll be more confident using the same calculator and oddsmatcher day in day out, rather than chopping and changing. Xmas Smile

tonymac84 · 06/12/2016 15:43

@sunnysidesucks "it seems the QL is quite high >£1 on a lot of the horses offers? that's where I'm not confident enough to take the plunge yet."

Using the oddsmatcher, you should be able to get this to well below £1. You are right to be cautious about the QL though, as the bigger this is, the less value there is in doing the reload. Is there a particular offer you have been targeting?

amazingamy09 · 06/12/2016 20:50

@tonymac84 - thank you, I'm thinking I might sign up to the free month of PA and then decide from there!

I've had a message from Paddypower offering me a free £10 try on their casino - should I take them up on this, and does anyone have any tips?

Many thanks

amazingamy09 · 06/12/2016 22:57

Why am I so rubbish at this bangs head on wall

I've used the Trickybet calculator and forgot to check I was on the right percentage commission - I was on 3% not 5%.

I've realised straight away afterwards but I have;

laid £3.90 with £18.72 liability, when it should have been £3.91 with £18.77 liability. I know it's only a small bit out and a small bet, but is this likely to result in a big error?

My own daft fault for trying to do this when tired

GardeningWithDynamite · 07/12/2016 09:27

amazingamy09 - looks like a 5p difference to me. You'll be fine.

I did a free bet last night - I think I'm back on track!

sunnysidesucks · 07/12/2016 11:27

Thanks @tonymac84 I'm looking at the horses again now for today. Have done an offer on the William Hill High 5, but there are only 3 horses in the field so it might be rubbish? I use yesbets website.

Do you do the horses every day?

tonymac84 · 07/12/2016 14:04

@amazingamy09 is the PP Casino bonus a no deposit offer? And I wouldn't worry about that commission error as it's only a few pence

tonymac84 · 07/12/2016 14:09

@sunnysidesucks you need to be careful as that offer requires a minimum field of 6 runners. I dip in and out through the week but do more on horses at the weekend as there are more offers around

amazingamy09 · 07/12/2016 21:34

Hi Gardening and Tony, thanks so much, you've put my mind at rest!

It's a no deposit offer Tony

likeaZombie · 07/12/2016 22:31

First bet seems to have been successful. Won at the bookies and bet fair had an offer so still had 23 quid in my account so I think I'm €18 up so far. Didn't get my free bet with coral as it timed out before I had time to use it. Need to read the t and c more closely next time.
€10 qualifying bet placed with ladbrokes and 10 free bet. Hopefully it will pan out ok but think I should follow the guides instead of winging it.
I'm going through quidco so if they come good I could have 66 in cashback too. Seems too good to be true.

tonymac84 · 08/12/2016 13:32

@amazingamy09 check the T&C's to see which games are allowed then my advice would be to play a high-risk game with the hope of winning big. You can then switch to a lower variance game (one that pays out little and often) to try and play through the wagering requirements.

Make sense?

tonymac84 · 08/12/2016 13:41

@likeaZombie We've all let a few free bets lapse but you're right it does pay to check the T&C's. Just wondering why only €10 for Ladbrokes?
