Any ideas??!!

Failing that, anyone know a loan shark???

Please don't go to a loan shark, it's not worth it. You could do some selling on Ebay - won't make you rich but it's a start.

CountessDracula · 22/08/2005 20:04

sell all your unwanted things on ebay
get a temp job
sell your body!!

CountessDracula · 22/08/2005 20:05

sell old baby bits on mn

SoupDragon · 22/08/2005 20:07

Would you get £1800 for your body?? Mine's certainly not worth that much after 2 children.

morningpaper · 22/08/2005 20:08

Mine's worth about £1.80 if I sell it by the pound...

swiperfox · 22/08/2005 20:08

pmsl - definately not!!!!!

having my 2 have wrecked any chance of that!! Not to mention number 3 on the way!!

SoupDragon · 22/08/2005 20:09

Are there any ways you could get some of it by not spending it (IYSWIM) It's a lot to get in a short time.

Fimbo · 22/08/2005 20:09

Credit Union? (I just used Leeds as an example)

mumtosomeone · 22/08/2005 20:09

watch money spinners!!!

CountessDracula · 22/08/2005 20:09

can you rent out a room in your house?

CountessDracula · 22/08/2005 20:10

sell car and buy a cheaper one

Fimbo · 22/08/2005 20:10

Car Boot Sale?

swiperfox · 22/08/2005 20:12

problem is dp works in a stupid comission based job and has had no wages for the last few weeks and not really expecting any. I get 80.00 a week which we live on so we have none to save. When we moved into this house it was on a 3 month contract where we had to give 3 months rent upfront and then do that again for the next 3 months. If we can raise this and pay the 3 months rent dp can get out of this stupid job into a proper one and have time to work his month in hand before the rent is due again....

Anyone need new windows???!!!

SoupDragon · 22/08/2005 20:12

Discover an old antique in the attic?

CountessDracula · 22/08/2005 20:14

oh blimey

Negotiate with the landlord to move to monthly rent?

SoupDragon · 22/08/2005 20:14

If you've nothing to sell, I think it's going to be difficult to do without borrowing it and then you'll have the added problem of paying it back. Viscious circle.

SleepySuzy · 22/08/2005 20:15

Fimbo, do you have to live in Leeds to join this?

Fimbo · 22/08/2005 20:17

Suzy-I would assume so, I just googled Credit Unions and that was the first one to come up. I haven't used one myself but think lots of areas have them. HTH

swiperfox · 22/08/2005 20:18

will have to look into that thanks Fimbo.

Our other alternative is to borrow from dp's work which means he's then tied to that bloody job again.

Arrgghh!!!

OP posts:
SleepySuzy · 22/08/2005 20:20

Aha, just googled the association of british credit unions, and you can search for one in your area, very useful. Thanks.

motherinferior · 22/08/2005 20:23

Definitely try the credit union option; they're there for people in your situation and specifically to avoid loan sharks!

expatinscotland · 22/08/2005 20:29

Hmmm. £1800. I had a Compaq laptop and two graphing calculators I sold on Ebay, but even that only netted us about £300.

swiperfox · 22/08/2005 20:43

yeah its a lot to raise eh expat? i was working out even the tv, puter and stuff wouldn't do it!!

OP posts:
mumtosomeone · 22/08/2005 22:01

sleep with the landlord?!!!

mumtosomeone · 22/08/2005 22:01

sorry not helpful!!!

Did anyone see money spinners?!
