Any ideas??!!

Failing that, anyone know a loan shark???

Right got one week to make a grand.

Anyone got ANY ideas? Looked into a provident loan but dp doesn't have a cheque book book. Looked at 'payday' loans but he would need a switch/visa card and doesn't have one.

So bloody frustrating. He gets over a grand at the end of sept in bonuses but we can't pull it forward.

Have had the new lease through to be signed and given in with the cash by 14th sept.

s**t.

Tortington · 06/09/2005 10:44

got a letter from black horse loans today thee is a number on it - if you want it
08708501647
the interest is typical 8.9 % dont borrow too much

swiperfox · 06/09/2005 10:59

Thank you Custy - Are they homeowners only?

If you come up w/something, swiper, let me know. We sure as hell could use a grand here, too.

Best of luck!

swiperfox · 06/09/2005 11:06

certainly will expat! Crap isn't it?

OP posts:
Tortington · 06/09/2005 11:13

no not homeowners

expatinscotland · 06/09/2005 11:18

It is indeed, swiper. You're far, far from alone here in that.

Tortington · 06/09/2005 19:44

did you try it?

Frizbe · 06/09/2005 19:49

Erm could you go temping at night/evenings? when kids are in bed and dh is home from work?
I've cut our food bill in half by shopping at Lidl, if thats any help??

swiperfox · 07/09/2005 09:41

i've given dp the number - i tried but they wanted to talk to him as it would be in his name but I seem to remember we got tuirned down by black horse a while ago. Still worth a shot though.

Swiper - Did provident say why you'd need a cheque book ?? They didn't ask us for one, infact they didn't ask us for anything really.

Mind you they only lend you £500 though.

swiperfox · 07/09/2005 09:50

That's what it said on the webpage - that anyone with a checkbook could apply for a loan - i think it said it went up to 800.... I might go and double check that - it's getting v desperate and v scary now

OP posts:
nutcracker · 07/09/2005 09:55

Hmm i never noticed that bit, maybe i missed it. Mind you we do both have cheque books anyway.

We applied for £500 and it went through fine, i don't think they even credit checked us.

SleepySuzy · 07/09/2005 09:59

How does Provident work, do they come to your door for the repayments?

nutcracker · 07/09/2005 10:01

Yep they come once a week for the payments.

Just checked the site again, couldn't see anything about a cheque book. It said borrow up to £500 if your a new customer and £1000 if your an exsisting customer.

gigglinggoblin · 07/09/2005 10:06

think provident is quite high interest when you work it out (if memory serves).

do you have a bank account you could ask for a temporary overdraft on?

swiperfox · 07/09/2005 10:11

i can't find the website now nutty have you got a link? 500 is better than nothing!

OP posts:
Toothache · 07/09/2005 10:13

Swiperfox - PLEASE don't borrow from Provident! My Mum was a Provident Agent and she couldn't believe how much people were fleeced. Some paid 100% interest!!!!

What about an interest free credit card???? Or has someone already suggested that?

swiperfox · 07/09/2005 10:17

we wouldn't get a credit card. or probably a loan from anyone half decent. dp has been in his job almost a year and it has completely messed us up and we have fallen behind with all our other repayments so we don't look too good on paper. At the moment we've got to take it from anywhere that offers or we won't have a house this time next week! I know they are awful and we;ll end up paying back 3 times as much but we haven't much choice

OP posts:
fireflyfairy2 · 07/09/2005 10:18

Could you and DH borrow £500 each?

But what i'd advise is asking family and friends, my brother smashed his car a few months ago, he was just married and had his wedding debts to pay and a new mortgage... because of this most of us lent him about £300 each.. and he has been paying it back.. with no interest.. as it's the interest on loans that end up crippling you!

stitch · 07/09/2005 10:18

swiper, have you checked out all your family? can they loan yo usomething till payday?

swiperfox · 07/09/2005 10:21

THe only person we could ask is my Mum but she is in a mess herself at the moment as they've decided she's been overpaid on her tax credits and stopped the whole lot so really can't ask her. DP's family hates me lol

is the landlord not going to budge at all - even if u say to him look we've got u half now and half again in 2 weeks - it's not for the want of trying to get the money - I don't recommend the prov either if there's another way.
