Before i read your last sentence I was going to write "Thats crap!! Just as LBAM gets to post on time someone else messes it all up"

At least i had one month were i got it done on time

PositiveAttitude · 21/04/2010 15:38

Yes, LBAM I wasn't getting at you!

Has anything arrived with you yet?

LoveBeingAMummy · 21/04/2010 15:45

I know you weren't , nothing yet.

walkthedinosaur · 22/04/2010 08:15

It sounds like you all want to stop at the end of it, which I'm actually a bit sad about as I've enjoyed receiving the books.

I was really happy for it to continue but it looks like you're all counting down the months till the end which is a shame.

Although if you do want to continue I'm happy to be the one posting back to the UK.

jamaisjedors · 22/04/2010 08:30

Sorry wtd, I've actually been really lucky because you were posting to me and have always been v. speedy and not needed hassling!

Let's see how it goes in the next couple of months.

PositiveAttitude · 22/04/2010 08:36

WTD* - No I'd be happy to carry on, but I would like to have a sort of agreement set out about what we expect from each other, dates to send on etc. I think we could get a really good thing going, with a little more organisation and commitment. If someone wanted to join in I would hope they could read the "rules" that we have agreed and understand their responsibilities. Perhaps we have all been a bit naive and trusting so far. But we will have learnt form this experience.

I will happily send to the continent each month.
Lets complete this circuit and we can get a plan and see who wants to come along with us, or join us anew.

jamaisjedors · 22/04/2010 08:37

ok, sounds good PA

PositiveAttitude · 22/04/2010 08:38

Blimey that was quick JJ.
Good day to you

jamaisjedors · 22/04/2010 08:39

Fluke! Must get down to some work now though!

PositiveAttitude · 22/04/2010 08:42

And me to supermarket. Although sat here with drink, toast and MN is far more alluring!!

LoveBeingAMummy · 22/04/2010 10:09

I'd like to continue also, every book i hvae had has been one that I would not hvae picked up myself and i love that.

walkthedinosaur · 22/04/2010 16:55

I agree LBAM that's what I like about it so much - I think when you buy books you can get into a bit of a rut, this way I've been introduced to some new books, some I've loved and some not so much, but at least I've given them all a try.

LoveBeingAMummy · 22/04/2010 17:51

i do know how to spell have honest

HC1 · 26/04/2010 08:17

I would like to carry on. I found it rather fustrating in the first few months but Loler has always been very good at posting to me. I loved the book I have just read and wouldn't have chosen it to read. It has really helped with my pregnancy insomnia. Lets see who else wants to carry on and then we can get something sorted.

jamaisjedors · 26/04/2010 13:40

OK. So LBAM I am assuming you haven't received a book from cariboo yet.

So sorry about that for you.

I have emailed, catted and stalked her but no signs of life.

I have posted 2 books onto her.

Any suggestions of what to do with this month's book?

Direct to LBAM?

walkthedinosaur · 26/04/2010 19:47

I'm saying direct to LBAM we've got to get our little group working well for the rest of us.

Even though I was one who spoke up for letting Cariboo join halfway through I think we've just got to stick to those of us who are commited to making it work and make a rule no new starters until we've pinned them in a corner, with a light shining over their eyes and they've signed in blood how they understand that they must always post their book on the first week of the month, and not let anyone join in halfway through a cycle.

Cariboo was posting on MN on Saturday (so only 2 days ago), I don't know how to get her attention if she's not responding to emails and CAT messages.

Teething problems at the beginning were to be expected, but it's getting silly now when just one person throws the whole thing out.

JJ you know that I've sent May's book to you already so you won't be getting another book off me just yet - I was just fabulously speedy this month (not reading the book may have played a part ).

LoveBeingAMummy · 26/04/2010 23:09

I feel bad for the people who won't be getting their books back. Not sure how we can make it smoother, smaller group do 2/3 cycles? Maybe we should have a mosey/chat to some of the other longer running groups and see how they do it, I'd guess they had the same teething trouble till they ended ip with the group the had now (would do it but on my phone so nit really built for a good nosey)

PositiveAttitude · 27/04/2010 06:51

Hi ladies.

So, I assume nothing will be coming to me this month, then. As LBAM has nothing to pass on.
I suggest JJ posting direct to LBAM and I will sit out this month.

I assume that LOLER is receiving from Wiseoldelf, as I pass on to her, but have heard nothing for months from there, either.

I will happily stalk question another thread and see how things are for them.

PositiveAttitude · 27/04/2010 07:05

On first stalk look on "fur quits" bookswap, they seem to have issues with books not being passed on when they should, too. Its not just us!!!

PositiveAttitude · 27/04/2010 07:44

Right, hope nobody minds me doing this, but I have posted hereto see if we can get some help to sort this mess out.

jamaisjedors · 27/04/2010 08:11

Thanks for doing that PA, we'll see what they say.

I am a bit at Cariboo, as far as I can see she is a regular mn (unlike mamandomi who hadn't been around long).

I have emailed her direct so I don't see why she wouldn't answer.

I have sent her two books but won't send any more on!

When I've finished the one I have I can send it lbam (probably next week).

And then I have already had LBAM's book from wtd so that would be the last one - but that means that there are 2 (or is it 3) books "lost"...

PositiveAttitude · 27/04/2010 08:17

I think it could be 3 books gone astray. Mamandomi has 1 and cariboo has 2, doesn't she? Or is it the other way round.

I am glad I didn't send in one of my best books. If I dont get it back, I wont be hitting the bottle about it!

Everyone who wants to keep this going, just keep an eye on this thread and we will regroup and sort it all out for next time around.

walkthedinosaur · 27/04/2010 08:40

Great idea PA - looking at their thread they seem to have had quite a few problems too with people posting on two books at a time - in that respect we seem to be quite organised - some of us are only a month behind.

I think we must be coming to the end of our cycle, the book I sent to JJ for May was LBAM's book, so if she starts sending to her that should be the cycle finished at the end of the month. I know I haven't read Flying Clouds book yet and it sounds like it's a good one so I'm looking forward to getting that eventually. Is my book one of the books sent to Cariboo then? With three books missing we need to know when we've got to the end of the cycle and then maybe all sit around with a glass of wine one night and have a discuss to lay down the rules for the next cycle.

jamaisjedors · 27/04/2010 08:43

The books I sent to cariboo were:

a thriller about a religious cult
one about a london gym

I have LBAM's book and also wiseoldelf's? will check tonight - by Paul Torbay

jamaisjedors · 27/04/2010 08:43

I am also glad mine was not one of my favourite books, I hadn't realised anyway that we would be getting the books back (doh!) so sent one I had read a couple of times and wasn't too attached too!
