The Thread for Happy Thoughts

I thought that as well as having threads here where we can talk about our worries, concerns and feelings as we come to terms with issues related to experiencing an MC we needed a thread where we could talk about things that make us smile to cheer anyone up who needs cheering up. As someone very wise said in one of these threads a couple of weeks' ago: it can't rain all the time! So here is my 'happy thought' of the day: today my second son was getting himself dressed (he's 27 months and going through an independence phase) and he was struggling with his top which was inside out and he said to me 'mummy it is too rectangled I can't do it!' I looked at his little face and just burst out laughing and it felt wonderful!

ha ha! Great hijack! Murphy's sounds just as nice! Mamalovesmojitos - that's a coctail right? yummy, a coctail would go down a treat right now me thinks!

BeckyBendyLegs · 18/06/2008 12:40

I went to a wedding in Cork once and I thought it was a lovely Irish town and the people were lovely, our taxi driver wouldn't stop going on about how much he loved Cork and how fantastic it was. Great seafood .

The DSs and I went shopping this morning and I bought some hair dye (to cover the grey bits), two Terry's chocolate oranges (I am addicted) and a bag of pick 'n' mix from Woolies for the DSs. I'm going to take DS2 up now for his nap zzzz.

ChocolateEclair · 18/06/2008 12:50

are you going to eat both the chocolate oranges this afternoon?

BeckyBendyLegs · 18/06/2008 12:52

Now that would be greedy! I did once eat a whole one to myself when I was about 12 and felt so ill afterwards.

DS2 in bed now and singing to himself (via the baby monitor). I've just found a bank statement that he has cut into bits with his new scissors (he must have done it while I was making lunch). Ahhhhhhh!

pmsl

and awwwwww for your ds singing to himself. (Has made me cry though - I really really can't wait til I'm a Mum )

BeckyBendyLegs · 18/06/2008 13:14

Oh I didn't mean to make you cry. I'm so sorry . Perhaps I shouldn't talk about the DSs here, that was really insensative of me. I know it is easy for me to say this but please try not to worry too much about what the future holds. I know it's really hard when you've had a MC (was that your first pregnancy, is that right?). My boss had her first pregnancy end up in an MC and since had 3 children. And I'm sorry I made you cry .

hijak over

Ses15 · 18/06/2008 16:14

Mamalovesmojitos - thanks for the hijack! A welcome distraction! I'll have to look out for that rooftop bar too!

Ses15 · 18/06/2008 16:20

BTW, update on my saga that I told you on 14th.... HCG levels have dropped slowly over the last week. Had another scan today and no change there so I'm haveing another ERPC on Monday. They're still not sure if it's still retained product from April's mmc or if it's a new pg that wasn't viable or even a mixture of both!??!!

Even more of a reason to find that bar in Cork I think and make the most of the wkend away before having that done on Monday.

ChocolateEclair · 18/06/2008 16:21

oh becky! Thanks for the hugs. I didn't mean it in a bad way . PLEASE PLEASE do talk about your ds's on here. I love hearing about funny stuff they do. You weren't being insensitive at all. We are trying to share happy thoughts right?TBH I think lots of things are going to make me cry this week!I think it has hit hard with it being our first baby yes. However, I do feel optimistic that it will happen for us, it just wasn't meant to be this time (just like your boss). Please don't feel bad in the slightest - you are feeling just as sad as me I'm sure! OK?

ChocolateEclair · 18/06/2008 16:24

ses - sorry things haven't worked out for you. Good luck for Monday as well. Make sure you have plenty of Murphy's or mojito's for us all at the weekend!

Ses15 · 18/06/2008 16:40

Thanks ChocolateEclair. Do you mind me asking what's the latest with you?

Becky - I absolutely echo what ChocolateEclair says. Hearing about and seeing other people's children does sometimes make me sad and tearful but at the same time I also take great joy from it. Please don't change the way you share your experiences of your own DCs!!!

ChocolateEclair · 18/06/2008 17:55

Ses - I have to go back to the epu on monday where they will re-scan to see if the 'baby' has grown or now has a heartbeat. (I think they are covering all options as I was sure of my dates)so extremely unlikely.
However, I am pretty much certain that I have miscarried naturally, and really really hope the scan will show there is nothing left. I am terrified of going to theatre, having nightmares about that. I have coped pretty much ok with things happening at home in their own time.

Ses15 · 18/06/2008 18:01

ChoclolateEclair - really hope the scan will show either a nice strong heartbeat (but I understand this is unlikely as you know your own body) or that your body has naturally resolved this for you so you don't have to go through any more. I guess maybe we can think of eachother on Monday...

BeckyBendyLegs · 18/06/2008 18:04

Hi ChocolateEclair thanks for your reply. I feel reassured. I can be a bit thick-skinned though at times so do need to be told 'stop, enough already' when I let my mouth (or typing fingers here) run away ahead of my brain!

We've had a nice afternoon and are now back home. DH has just arrived home from work and the mother-in-law is here chopping veggies for our tea!

I just wanted to say that I'm feeling good today

First day back at work and I enjoyed it and we had a lovely day. Saw a friend and talked about what happened and it was good to talk especially without getting upset (ok, too upset!).

Feeling positive today. Oh, and healthy eating going well and feeling good for it

I hope tomorrow goes ok for you ChocolateEclair - will be thinking of you.

ChocolateEclair · 18/06/2008 18:22

yes ses - we can definetly be thinking of eachother on monday. My appointment is at 9am. When is yours?

Becky - glad you are reassured! Sometimes it's hard on here to understand the tone or what people are saying, something is lost in the typing rather than speaking IYSWIM. Have a nice tea

Ses15 · 18/06/2008 18:25

I have to be at the hospital for 7am(!!) for consent forms and pre-op meds. Then procedure happens between 9 and 9.30 and then all being well, I should be home by about 4pm!

ChocolateEclair · 18/06/2008 18:54

southernbelle - glad your first day back went so well and you are feeling happier . I'm actually quite nervous about going back to work tomorrow....weird to be nervous going to my own job! I'm sure the staff with be lovely, and the kids will be none the wiser so fingers crossed I get through it without crying! Actually the kids will probably say they have missed me, which is always lovely

ses - I have to say you sound very calm about it all. I wouldn't be at all if we had to swap places. It sounds like a long day aswell - is someone going to be with you?

Ses15 · 18/06/2008 19:09

DH will be able to drop me off and then he's going to try and get the day off. If not I'll ask a friend if she's free. I'll at least need someone to come and drive me home as can't drive after the general anaethetic and am meant to have someone with you for 24 hrs afterwards. I'm sure we'll sort something out. DH is home about 7.45 this evening and he said we'd talk about it then.

I may sound calm but I'm well practiced at boxing things away until I have to deal with them. If you've got a talent, I say use it!

ChocolateEclair · 18/06/2008 20:45

Night all - I'm going for a bath and an early night! Thanks so much for talking to me over the last few days. It has really really helped, you have all been so fab and positive. I hope the future will be bright for every one of us and that we all get our babies very soon.

CE xx

Ses15 · 18/06/2008 20:52

Thank you too CE. Hope your first day back at work goes well.

MrsKing · 19/06/2008 10:07

Good morning everyone.

CE - hope you have a good day at work. Reading your earlier post, when I had my termination last year I was really terrified about going to theatre as I had never had a general anesthetic before. I wanted to reassure you that it is over really quickly and in my experience not too painful. Obviously it is upsetting, in my case I was still devastated but it is a kind of closure and the beginning of the moving on process. Will be thinking of you on Monday.

Ses, will think of you too. The days leading up to it are hard even if you think you are calm! A weekend In Cork sounds just the thing, it is supposed to be lovely.

Well I am off to do some gardening with DS so hope it does not rain. Sending happy thoughts MrsK

ChocolateEclair · 19/06/2008 16:20

Hi guys!

Well I survived my 1st day back! It was nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be, but I was sooooo nervous this morning! I got 3 lovely cards in my tray, one in particular was just perfect, off a colleague who had a MMC in Jan. I saw her later and we were both close to tears. The kids were crazy as usual which was great! (I even enjoyed telling a couple off!)

Still feeling a bit worried about Monday, but putting it out of mind for now!

Mrs King - hope you enjoyed the gardening! Have you had sunshine today? It's been nice here, if windy.Hmph! It's always windy, I live by the sea!

Hope everyone is having a good day today xx

MrsKing · 19/06/2008 16:29

Hi everyone

CE - glad that your first day back was ok and that you survived it! Nice to get some cards as well.

Been gardening today, this afternoon turned out really sunny after all but it is windy. DS spent the whole time pulling up plants and throwing soil around.

Off to make dinner, take care everyone xx
