Periods after medical miscarriage

Hi, I think I'm about to go insane! I underwent a medical miscarriage after discovering a MMC on 08th July, I was 9 weeks by my dates but the sac was around 7 weeks. I eventually miscarried on the 17th July and got a negative PG test on 09th August.

My period showed its head on the evening of 16th August but literally for 24hrs!! I have had nothing since until yesterday evening when I had some brown spotting and again today some pinky brown spotting on wiping!

I'm so confused as to what my body is doing and I feel so out of control. I understood the first period after a miscarriage would be normal flow or heavier, but this has been practically none existent. Has anyone else had a similar experience? This MC was my second PG, the first ended in TFMR back in November at 15 weeks 😥 I just want to know when we can TTC again as I am 35 at Christmas and getting panicky about getting older!!

Any words of wisdom ladies? It's really starting to get to me xx

@Cornflake24 thank you lovely. It's a strange old feeling after what we've been through isn't it? Such a mixture of emotions!

Ha ha poor hubby! Thank you lovely but I don't have Facebook, or at least I don't use it. I have Instagram but I've been off it for a while now, too many people announcing pregnancies! Maybe I'll go back on again soon 🤔 now going to meet my bestie for a walk and try and keep my mouth shut. I've been given the Scarborough warning by hubby to not let slip! Xxx

@Wils85 im keeping quiet too haha one of my friends asked me last week and I had to lie lol was horrible but don't want to jinx it

Wils85 · 05/12/2020 16:42

@Cornflake24 ah you feel like you're lying even though you're not! Hopefully the time will fly. Only 7+5 to go until we can tell. Though we are telling our parent sat Christmas xxx

@Wils85 we are holding off but will be so hard keeping quiet at Xmas but waiting until Jan. Can't believe I'm 6 weeks tomorrow we have a private 8 week scan booked on 22nd Dec for hopefully some Dec reassurance.

How did you get on not telling your friend?

Wils85 · 05/12/2020 17:15

@Cornflake24 we are only telling our parents and mainly so that his mum knows so she doesn't make something I can't eat for Christmas day starter 🙈

It's flying! I booked a scan too. We are going on the 27th. I'll be just short of 8 weeks so should see a heartbeat 🤞🏻 Felt so anxious speaking to them, made it feel more real. I'll be a wreck on the 27th with having the MMC last time.

I kept schtum! The conversation didn't even come up luckily. You do feel guilty though don't you? Like you're lying. 😳

How have the symptoms been for you? I've felt wiped today. Xx

Hi ladies, how are you all today? I was hoping to get some words of wisdom... I got peak opk on Sunday morning but still no bbt rise. I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else and if it means I haven't ovulated. The idea of not having ovulated has made me feel really down. Don't know whether I should just give up ttc because the last 5 months have been pretty shit.

Hope you're all ok x

Wils85 · 09/12/2020 14:09

Hello @StEmilion I'm sorry it's all so confusing. I wish I could assist. I've never tracked BBT so I genuinely have no idea. Please don't give up, we ladies know how hard the journey is and you are always welcome to vent here.

Things not so great this end. I started bleeding on Monday evening and I'm basically having a period now. I think my +ive was a chemical 😥 EPU told me to test again on Saturday and if I still have +ive tests in two weeks to contact them for scanning. I know in my heart it's done though. I've got an appointment with the GP on Friday to discuss it all, our losses and my short periods. I need to know if there is something underlying.

DH grandad passed away this morning as well. Genuinely just waiting for the next piece of bad news, it feels like that's just how it is after the last 12mths xxx

Oh fuck @Wils85 I'm so sorry. You really deserve a happy ending after everything you've been through, not more heartbreak. And I'm sorry to hear about your DH's granddad too. What a crap year this has been. Sending hugs xxx

Wils85 · 09/12/2020 14:30

@StEmilion thank you lovely. Sending it right back ❤️ xxx

@stemilion afraid I never tracked BBT either I stuck to ovulation tests and had a month where it says I didnt go peak at all but the tester was faulty, your GP can do a day 21 test that confirms if you ovulated though if your worried.

@wils85 ♡ you know where I am x

Wils85 · 10/12/2020 13:10

@Cornflake24 thank you lovely 😘

I had a negative test this morning so it's definitely a chemical. Just got to wait and we what the GP says tomorrow but I'm going to push for some kind of investigations xxx

@wils85 hopefully this means you will get to the bottom of the problem, fingers crossed for you

StEmilion · 10/12/2020 13:32

@Wils85 fingers crossed for your appointment tomorrow, I thought they are supposed to refer you if you've had 3 mcs so I hope they don't fob you off. And if there's anything wrong then hopefully it'll be easily fixed. Take care of yourself x

@Cornflake24 this sounds ridiculous but last night I tested my temp and it was low then I wiggled the battery in the thermometer, tested again and my temp was much higher. So hopefully it's a low battery rather than me not ovulating 🤞x

Cornflake24 · 10/12/2020 13:45

@stemilion it will be haha I was having a nervous breakdown about 9 high days and no peak tried a different tester and got a 0 made my husband try the old one and he got peak haha clearly faulty

Wils85 · 10/12/2020 14:04

@Cornflake24 @StEmilion thanks ladies, I'll keep you posted with what they say.

@cornflake24 you did make me laugh with your husband getting a peak!!

Love it that your husband got peak 🤣🤣

Wils85 · 14/12/2020 10:42

Hi ladies, just wanted to pop up and see how you were all doing.

The GP has referred me to the consultant, so we should get a letter from the hospital in a couple of weeks. He said he wasn't overly concerned as we can get pregnant, which apparently is the hardest hurdle, but that we need to look into what's happening after that.

I've been doing some reading about short periods and thin uterine lining and apparently vitamin e is a good supplement to take, so I'm going to give that a whirl in the meantime. Can't hurt right? It's only vitamins.

Hope you're all taking god care of yourselves. Sending you love xxx

StEmilion · 14/12/2020 16:39

Hi @Wils85 it sounds positive if the GP isn't overly concerned. I hope you don't have to wait long for your referral. How are you feeling about it all? I'm planning on going to the GP in January as that'll be 6 months of trying.

I don't think there's any harm in taking supplements and I think vitamin E is mentioned in the 'it starts with the egg' book. I've been taking loads and the way I see it, it can only make my eggs better quality over time xx

smarty4 · 14/12/2020 18:49

@Wils85 that's reassuring from your consultant. It's made me think what are good questions to ask my gp about ttc, miscarriage etc? Anything I should ask them to check? I have a telephone appt on Thursday.
We were ttc for 6 months, fell pregnant but miscarried at 10 weeks. I've had my first period (very light) and now ready to try again.
I have rheumatoid arthritis which is flaring so I know that can hinder ttc, so I have a few questions around that but is there anything else?

smarty4 · 14/12/2020 18:51

Sorry @Wils85 I meant it's good your GP isn't overly concerned (not consultant)

Cornflake24 · 14/12/2020 19:15

@smarty4 @stemilion don't you have to be TTC for a year before they will do anything?

@Wils85 a friend of mine takes that, she also has very short periods, no fertility issues but can't conceive and is just starting IVF. The fact you can conceive is a positive so fingers crossed!

smarty4 · 14/12/2020 19:28

I think so yes @Cornflake24 but I made the appt to talk about my arthritis as well and potential Impact on ttc as I think there's a connection between the two. Also bc I've felt so low since the MC and previously signed off work due to stress just wanted to talk through anything else that can be done (or I can do) to help myself, if that makes sense.
