Hey 😁

In short, 4 pregnancies, 4 losses. Ds (living) was the result of 3rd pregnancy but as he was a twin, my GP has classed that as a loss too.

2 losses from CP
2 losses after seeing heartbeat.

Im lucky that i have managed to get a cancellation for friday after waiting only 3 weeks.

What should i expect from my 1st appointment?

Im also lucky in the fact that my local hospital and clinic where im receiving treatment is where Prof.Quenby is based.

Not sure how relevant that is mind as my app is on the gynae ward.
I have a few questions if anyone could answer?

Would i be eligible for Kryotyping on NHS?
As ive had a child, would i even need it?
I know they test for blood clotting and thyroid, but what else will the test for?

I do wonder if i would see Prof. Quenby as an NHS patient. My bet is i wouldnt. I have a very vague memory of having a chat with her way before i had DS but i could be wrong.

Any advice would be handy. I have a tendency of having high expectations so i want to go in there, kinda knowing what im going to get out of it.

(Ps, i know there is a 50% chance i wont get anything out of it)

Thanks in advance

@HalGem99 I had my first one on NYE 7+4 following a bleed. At the beginning of my pregnancy they offered me one at 6+2 but I didn't want to risk uncertainty so I cancelled it, but they said to phone when I was ready to re-book. My next NHS one is wed 20th, but I couldn't wait until then so I booked a private one the Sunday just gone, at 9 weeks. But that was 5 days ago so anything could have happened since. If all is ok on Wednesday, I'm not sure I'll be able to wait 2 weeks until the 12 week one, so I'll probably end up booking a private one inbetween as well.

We have been incredibly lucky that my husband has been allowed at all scans. It seems to be a bit of a postcode lottery as to the care that's given. I've read lots on here about women who haven't been able to get a scan, even though they are bleeding because of covid. I suppose it may also depend on the covid cases area to area.

It's good to talk to someone who gets all this! Although I'm sorry you're in the same boat

HalGem99 · 18/01/2021 07:33

@Daffodil21 I'm on the count down to Friday as I woke up yesterday to hardly any symptoms at all then today nothing but light stomach cramps. Not feeling hopeful at all so I think Friday can go either way! No bleeding though!

Also to top off my anxiety, I found a lump in my boob so need to call the doctor today to get it checked. Although I've heard lumps can be common in early pregnancy?

How are you getting on? Xx

Daffodil21 · 18/01/2021 10:56

@HalGem99 no bleeding is a promising sign. What sort of cramping did it feel like? I think that's fairly common in early pregnancy but I understand it's worrying.

I've heard that lumps in breasts can be common in IVF, so surely that's the case for pregnancy in general? I'm not sure but definitely better to get it checked, I really hope it's nothing to worry about.

I'm on a count down to Wednesday, which is my next scan. I'm absolutely dreading it. I've been having stretching/pulling sensations all the way through, but that's stopped a few days ago so now I'm wondering if there's nothing going on in there anymore

HalGem99 · 18/01/2021 15:53

@Daffodil21 I've just got back from the doctors. I've been referred to the breast clinic for an ultra sound and biopsy on a two week referral. He said it's definitely not pregnancy related. I guess that's just one more think to worry about!

I can't describe the cramps other than like my period is on its way mixed with a bit of pulling?

Ooo Wednesday is not that far away but I bet it feels like a lifetime to you! Good luck, keep me updated! Xx

Daffodil21 · 18/01/2021 16:19

@HalGem99 so sorry to hear that, what a worry for you. But glad you are getting checked out quickly - keep me posted ❤️

I guess it's just a waiting game to see if the cramps mean anything... definitely not what you need right now!

Wednesday does feel far away but I'm sure it'll creep up and before I know I'll be in that horrible room staring at the ultrasound screen

HalGem99 · 20/01/2021 08:18

@Daffodil21 good luck for today! Let us know how you get on! Xx

Daffodil21 · 20/01/2021 08:32

@HalGem99 thank you. On the way now 😱😱

StarGal88 · 20/01/2021 09:20

@HalGem99 all the best! Everything crossed for you x

Daffodil21 · 20/01/2021 09:26

@HalGem99 all ok!!! Measuring as should, heart speed is good and it's even wriggling around!

HalGem99 · 20/01/2021 09:38

Yay!!! Amazing!!!! So glad to hear! How are you feeling? Do you have any symptoms now?

As you know I've got mine on Friday but then I have my cancer referral on Monday! Got a call from the hospital yesterday so all moving very quickly! I hope I don't get two lots of bad news!

Xx

Daffodil21 · 20/01/2021 21:25

@HalGem99 other than peeing 4 times a night and being tired, no other symptoms!

I have absolutely everything crossed for you on Friday and Monday. Please do let us know how you get on with both. It must be such a worrying time and I'm so sorry you have to deal with all this at once Thanks

GreenGecko36 · 22/01/2021 09:14

Good luck today @HalGem99, fingers crossed all looks ok 🤞
And congratulations @Daffodil21, really happy for you!
We've got our appointment with the private consultant on Tuesday, so will let everyone know how that goes.
I've then got my appt with the breast clinic on Thursday - the GP gave me antibiotics for suspected mastitis (yet another joyful outcome of three failed pregnancies in one year....) and the lump got smaller but hasn't gone, so will update on that too.
Hope everyone else on this thread is doing ok xx

Daffodil21 · 22/01/2021 09:43

Hope everything goes well today @HalGem99

Thanks @GreenGecko36 still a way to hopefully go but good news for now! So sorry you're both having to deal with lumps, must be so scary. I really hope it's nothing to worry about, please do keep us updated x

HalGem99 · 22/01/2021 11:45

@GreenGecko36 I'm so glad your appointment is soon, hopefully you get some answers! Keep us updated and about your lump!

The scan went well, strong heartbeat and I measured 6 weeks 6 days. Based on the date of my last period I should've been 7 weeks 1 day but they were not concerned at all as it's only 2 days different. She couldn't find one of my ovaries to check it though... Weird! Lol I've got my next scan on the 8th February at 5pm.

Now I just need to get through Monday!

Xx

Daffodil21 · 22/01/2021 20:34

@HalGem99 fantastic news!!! All the best for Monday, let us know x

Hi there,

I'm just experiencing my second miscarriage. I also had a chemical pregnancy on the previous cycle before this one.

I had a child three years ago with no complications but all three pregnancies (all in the last 8 months) since have failed.

My first mc involved failed medical management and then the surgical procedure.

At what point should I give the gp a call? Will they even consider investigating anything since I have had a baby? Or do I just have to accept I'm not meant to have another baby?

Would very much appreciate any advice. Feeling pretty heartbroken and hopeless about it at the moment.

treesall · 23/01/2021 13:38

Sorry, I shouldn't have posted here. I'll do a separate thread.

GreenGecko36 · 23/01/2021 14:02

Hi @treesall,
Really sorry to read your story, personally I don't think posting it here was inappropriate.

From what I've heard/experienced, unfortunately the NHS will only do testing after 3 "clinically confirmed" pregnancies (I think that means a scan or hcg test they've conducted) so a chemical pregnancy won't count to them.
IMHO I'd still give the GP a call to get their advice, then at least you'll know for sure, and they can maybe direct you to mental health support too if you think that could help.
I'm sure you've already looked, but I found the Tommy's and Miscarriage Association websites really helpful xx

HalGem99 · 23/01/2021 14:17

@treesall I'm sorry you're going through this!

My GP referred me after two missed miscarriages and I was lucky in that my local hospital in Coventry accepts referrals after 2 miscarriages so it is definitely worth giving your GP a call on Monday. Xx

HalGem99 · 23/01/2021 14:19

@treesall I forgot to say, as long as you are mentally and physically prepared, don't give up xx

Daffodil21 · 23/01/2021 15:23

@treesall not inappropriate to post here at all.

I'm really sorry to hear of your second loss. I think it does tend to be investigations after 3 losses, and even then it seems a little slow. I had my third mc beginning of November and I'm still on the waiting list for the RMC. I have got pregnant since then, but it's meant I haven't had the support from the RMC that I may have otherwise had. My GP has been very good though. Is it an option for you to go private?

Daffodil21 · 23/01/2021 16:56

@HalGem99 it's actually probably inappropriate for us to be discussing our pregnancies on this thread... maybe we should switch to DM or start a different thread?

I hope we haven't upset anyone on here...

HalGem99 · 23/01/2021 18:42

Omg I didn't think!! I am so sorry if we have upset or offended anyone! :-( xx

Daffodil21 · 23/01/2021 19:04

@HalGem99 I still can't bring myself to be on any pregnancy boards as I'm still not confident this will end in a baby, but probably not the best thread for pregnancy chat..!

StarGal88 · 23/01/2021 20:05

@HalGem99 @Daffodil21
I’m not upset or offended at all. In fact it gives me hope that the same will happen to me as we have had a similar experiences previously. It gives me information and insight for what may be coming (taking progesterone etc) xx
