Hey 😁

In short, 4 pregnancies, 4 losses. Ds (living) was the result of 3rd pregnancy but as he was a twin, my GP has classed that as a loss too.

2 losses from CP
2 losses after seeing heartbeat.

Im lucky that i have managed to get a cancellation for friday after waiting only 3 weeks.

What should i expect from my 1st appointment?

Im also lucky in the fact that my local hospital and clinic where im receiving treatment is where Prof.Quenby is based.

Not sure how relevant that is mind as my app is on the gynae ward.
I have a few questions if anyone could answer?

Would i be eligible for Kryotyping on NHS?
As ive had a child, would i even need it?
I know they test for blood clotting and thyroid, but what else will the test for?

I do wonder if i would see Prof. Quenby as an NHS patient. My bet is i wouldnt. I have a very vague memory of having a chat with her way before i had DS but i could be wrong.

Any advice would be handy. I have a tendency of having high expectations so i want to go in there, kinda knowing what im going to get out of it.

(Ps, i know there is a 50% chance i wont get anything out of it)

Thanks in advance

Hi @Babyghirl I'm so sorry to read about your journey. I wondered what your doctor classes as a chemical pregnancy? I've had three mc with one baby daughter in between... my first mc was at 5 weeks- would they class that as a chemical? X

Babyghirl · 26/02/2021 11:49

@glowingtwig
She said a cp is when you get a positive test but take your period on time or a day or 2 late where it does nt implant properly. So don't knw what they would say a five week miscarriage is think all docs and hospitals r different depending on what area ur from I'm from Belfast. Sorry for all your losses to its heart breaking xx

glowingtwig · 26/02/2021 12:44

Thank you @Babyghirl I just wonder about implantation with that one given how the last two didn't make it very far either... wonder if my hormones just took a while to recognise it. At 5 weeks I was only a week late for my period xx

Babyghirl · 26/02/2021 12:50

@glowingtwig
I just read up and it does say it's up to 5 weeks it sucks its nt alway recognised as a miscarriage cause if it was I would of been investigated sooner, I think it's awful women have to go through the pain and heartache 3 times before they r helped. Something needs to be done to lower the 3 miscarriages in a row before helped xx

Hi again everyone - hope you're all doing ok.
It's been a while since I updated, but I'll try to keep this short-ish.

We saw the private consultant back in January, and since then have had results back from some of our NHS tests. The foetal tissue that was sent for cytogenetic testing turned out to be triploid, so although she looked totally normal on the 5, 6, and 9 week scans (and normal at 12 other than the hb had stopped) the pregnancy would never have survived.
My OH and I then both went for blood tests to check our chromosomes were ok, and from this we found out that it had been a partial molar pregnancy. That means I have to have follow-ups at the specialist centre in Dundee (blood tests to check HCG has totally gone down and stays down) and not allowed to ttc until they say it’s safe. Was gutted to hear that, as every month that slips away feels like a missed opportunity - I know it's dramatic but every month I just imagine the unfertilized egg dying like the three failed pregnancies.

On the positive side, I had my repeat blood tests to check for APS this morning, so within a couple of weeks we'll hopefully have all of the results and can start trying again.
Oh, and we have our appointment booked with the NHS RM clinic for mid-April (it was mid-March but when I told the consultant I was waiting for repeat bloods she agreed it was pointless to meet till we had the results). Sounds like normal NHS services are resuming, so at least we can be optimistic about that x

@daffodil21
Thank you I will update after the app on how it goes 💚

GreenGecko36 · 31/03/2021 12:33

@Daffodil21 Doing OK thanks, still waiting on the results from the blood samples taken two weeks ago, but will call at the end of the week if I haven't heard anything.
My hcg was 'undetectable' from the samples I sent to the Dundee clinic, and officially we have to repeat that after 4wks to say its safe to ttc again. However, I had a test in mid-Feb that also came back undetectable, so we decided to try this month anyway - now back in the 2 week wait!
Happy to see on the other thread things are going really well for you!

Daffodil21 · 31/03/2021 12:57

@GreenGecko36 how stressful for you. Glad you are able to TTC again though, but sorry you're in the tww! It really is agonising isn't it. Thank you, I can't quiets believe we are still going tbh. I still can't see how we're going to go all the way but each week we get a little closer

Babyghirl · 31/03/2021 16:54

Well just an update I have been put on the waiting list for ivf girls it's nearly 22 months long thou but he is confident that I will fall before then and carry to term so told me to keep trying even thou I'm on the list and if I need it coming round to when I'm on top off it it's there or if nt I will just be taken off and I have also been referred to the recurrent miscarriage clinic in the mean time 💚💚

Babyghirl · 31/03/2021 16:55

That's meant to be 12 months long 😂😂😂😂😂

Daffodil21 · 31/03/2021 17:09

@Babyghirl glad some progress is being made! How are you feeling about it all?

Glad your 22 months was a typo! Although 12 months is long enough! Hopefully you will fall before then though x

Babyghirl · 31/03/2021 17:22

@daffodil21
Just glad we r moving in the right direction 12 months is long but I'm now on the ttc train again as my nxt bfp or the one after that can result in my rainbow baby so not giving up 💚

Daffodil21 · 31/03/2021 17:34

Good luck Daffodil

GreenGecko36 · 13/04/2021 17:44

Me again :)

So we finally had our appointment with the NHS RM clinic - the doctor was very nice but didn't tell me anything I didn't already know (I read a lot!). I had my APS diagnosis confirmed, which is good in the sense that it can be treated, but bad in the sense that the chance of various complications should I manage a successful pregnancy are higher... She advised aspirin from bfp, then heparin from 7wks, and progesterone if I get an early bleed.

Pretty sure I've just had a chemical pregnancy too though. Had a faint positive pt at 15dpo, about the same at 17dpo, then super-faint yesterday (19dpo) and AF today. I guess I shouldn't've tested so early and then I'd never have known, but still heartbreaking.... Especially as I only told OH yesterday before our appointment and now I've had to untell him again.
Not sure how much more of this I can go through SadSad
