Hey 😁

In short, 4 pregnancies, 4 losses. Ds (living) was the result of 3rd pregnancy but as he was a twin, my GP has classed that as a loss too.

2 losses from CP
2 losses after seeing heartbeat.

Im lucky that i have managed to get a cancellation for friday after waiting only 3 weeks.

What should i expect from my 1st appointment?

Im also lucky in the fact that my local hospital and clinic where im receiving treatment is where Prof.Quenby is based.

Not sure how relevant that is mind as my app is on the gynae ward.
I have a few questions if anyone could answer?

Would i be eligible for Kryotyping on NHS?
As ive had a child, would i even need it?
I know they test for blood clotting and thyroid, but what else will the test for?

I do wonder if i would see Prof. Quenby as an NHS patient. My bet is i wouldnt. I have a very vague memory of having a chat with her way before i had DS but i could be wrong.

Any advice would be handy. I have a tendency of having high expectations so i want to go in there, kinda knowing what im going to get out of it.

(Ps, i know there is a 50% chance i wont get anything out of it)

Thanks in advance

@Daffodil21 I'm worried that I'm not inserting the progesterone high enough, do you think it gets absorbed regardless of how high it's inserted? Xx

Daffodil21 · 31/12/2020 07:58

@HalGem99 I used to wonder that too but I assume if you don't get tooo much coming out after that it's gone in enough..?

Got a scan this morning. Absolutely dreading it!!!!!

HalGem99 · 31/12/2020 08:02

@Daffodil21 eeeeeeek I'm keeping everything crossed for you!! Is your hubby allowed to go with you? How far are you now?

Today is my test day even though I did it the other day! It's much darker this morning which can only be a good sign I suppose! I've got to phone the miscarriage unit today to let them know so I will ask about the progesterone. I'm also going to ask if I can have my blood results early as I'm not due to speak to professor Quenby until the 8th Jan!
Xx

HalGem99 · 31/12/2020 08:03

Definitely darker!

@HalGem99 yeah he is, he's been allowed at everything, even my last pregnancy in October/November. I should be 7+4 today so there should 100% be a heartbeat if it's ok, but I'm not too hopeful given that we've never got this far before and I've had a bleed.

That line is fab!!!!!! What bloods are you waiting on?

HalGem99 · 31/12/2020 08:34

@Daffodil21 that is so good he's been with you! I had to go to everything on my own, it was awful!

Hopefully there is a little flicker on the scan today and if all goes ok, hopefully it gives you a little bit more hope as you've managed to get further than before! Make sure you let us know how you get on! Is it a private scan or NHS?

I'm waiting on all the blood results from my first appointment with the recurrent miscarriage unit. So clotting, thyroid etc! Hopefully everything comes back ok as I am 4 weeks today! Xx

Daffodil21 · 31/12/2020 08:37

@HalGem99 we've been very lucky with us both being allowed in.

I will let you know. It's at 9 so not long to go, and then I've got an app with the consultant after (about previous loss). It's an NHS scan, I've never had a private scan.

Ah yeah you definitely need to know them ASAP so you can start meds if needed!

HalGem99 · 31/12/2020 08:43

@Daffodil21 at least you don't have to wait all day! Will be thinking of you!!

Xx

Daffodil21 · 31/12/2020 10:02

@HalGem99 there was a heartbeat and all measuring on time! First time the measurements have ever been as expected and this is the furthest we've got

HalGem99 · 31/12/2020 10:07

@Daffodil21 omg I am so happy for you!!! I actually cried! Lol how do you feel about everything? Have you booked your next scan? Happy new years eve!!

I've been in touch with the hospital this morning to let them know I am pregnant again. They are so lovely there! They have booked me a scan for the 15th January. I checked about the progesterone and she said that as long as it's in there it's fine! She also checked my blood results and said everything came back fine, no problems at all. She's cancelled my appointment with professor Quenby on the 8th January as apparently she would only go through my results and discuss further research which I can't do now because I'm pregnant! She did say if I miscarry again then I will still be under their care etc which was nice! Xx

Daffodil21 · 31/12/2020 10:32

@HalGem99 aw that's so sweet! I'm honestly so surprised!! We haven't booked the next scan yet but I've got to phone the midwife on the 5th for an app so I'll book one then. I'll hopefully be able to book one around week 10 if we're still going by then.

That all sounds brilliant!!! Looks like we've both got something to celebrate tonight!!

HalGem99 · 31/12/2020 10:36

@Daffodil21 can't wait to crack open the non alcoholic fizz! Hahahaha xx

StarGal88 · 02/01/2021 22:40

@HalGem99 congratulations! I’m so happy for you! This is a lovely start to 2021 xx

HalGem99 · 03/01/2021 07:49

@StarGal88 thank you so much! I'm praying that 2021 is the year the rest of you get another chance for your rainbow baby!!

It's very early days as only 4+3 and with my history I'm just taking it day by day! Each day that goes by without spotting is all I can ask for. Although I worry as I've read that taking progesterone can mask any bleeding but not sure how true that is. Does anyone know?

I also have zero symptoms apart from fatigue. In my last two, I had nausea very early so again that worries me.

How are you getting on? Xx

Daffodil21 · 03/01/2021 10:37

@HalGem99 I also read that too, but when I did have the bleed my consultant said it could be down to the cyclogest, so who knows 🤷‍♀️ I think the best thing you can do is take each day at a time as you say, and try and book a scan for around the 7 week mark. They should allow it, given your history.

The only symptom I have, even now at almost 8 weeks is fatigue and peeing a lot, particularly through the night. I was really worried about the lack of sickness but my friend (who had a successful pregnancy) said she didn't get any at all, so I'm trying not to overthink it...

HalGem99 · 03/01/2021 12:41

@Daffodil21 that is reassuring!

I'm booked in for a scan on the 15th but if I don't have any bleeding etc I think I'm going to ask for it to be pushed back later as I don't think it will be beneficial to me as I've seen heartbeats in every scan apart from the last ones obviously! I suppose I will decide nearer the time.

I am also weeing a lot but I think it's because I'm also trying to drink a lot of water! Glad you're doing well. Xx

Daffodil21 · 03/01/2021 13:00

@HalGem99 I felt the same way and cancelled the one they booked at 6+3. Then I started to bleed and had one at 7+4. They didn't need to do an internal and as I think I said before it was the only time it's measured as expected so I definitely did find it reassuring. It's already started to wear off though, as like you I've seen heartbeats before. I already want another one 🙈🙈🙈 How far along will you by the date of your scan?

I second the drinking a lot too!

HalGem99 · 03/01/2021 13:54

@Daffodil21 I wil only be 6+1. Ideally, I would like to wait until 8 weeks but we will see how I go!

Are you following any pregnancy diet or just being sensible? Xx

Daffodil21 · 03/01/2021 15:00

@HalGem99 ah that's probably the worst time to have a scan as it's right on the cusp of is there/isn't there a heartbeat (not that seeing it means everything, but not seeing it at stage could go either way!). If you're happier waiting then I would. I was planning on waiting until about 8 weeks too, until I had the bleed.

I'm not following any particular diet, but I'm trying to keep sugar and refined cards low (I think I have PCOS) and just eating a varied diet in terms of fruit/veg etc. How about you? X

HalGem99 · 03/01/2021 17:59

@Daffodil21 my thoughts exactly! I said to my husband I couldn't stand it if they said there's no heartbeat so come back in a week!

To be honest, I've just carried on as before apart from trying to drink at least 2 litres of water everyday! I do need to sort my diet out though because over Christmas it's been awful! Xx

Daffodil21 · 03/01/2021 18:42

@HalGem99 yeah there was no way I could deal with that either. I'm not sure how I kept going in limbo for so long after I had bleeding tbh!

As long as you're eating a bakeries diet as well as some treats I can see a harm (unless you have PCOS of course). I'm on pred atm too to hopefully help support this pregnancy and it's making me soo hungry all the time! So trying to make sure I don't eat too much crap!

HalGem99 · 05/01/2021 15:41

I woke up in the night to my ring finger being so itchy!! I took my wedding and engagement ring off which I've had on for 3.5 years with no problems, to find it is red raw, flakey with a few bumps on it! I read it could be pregnancy related. Has this ever happened to anyone? Xx

Recurrent miscarriage testing - 1st app
Daffodil21 · 05/01/2021 16:11

@HalGem99 not had that but I've had to take my ring off as my finger is too puffy (probably due to meds). How are you getting on with the progesterone?

I also meant to write 'balanced diet', not 'bakeries diet' in my last post 😂

HalGem99 · 05/01/2021 16:18

@Daffodil21 the progesterone is ok but just really inconvenient in the week when I haven't slept all night and have to get up for work and set my alarm 30 mins earlier so I can lay there for 20 mins! 🙄🙄 But can't complain if it's going to help!

I did guess it was supposed to say balanced diet lol I've started eating better now and still drinking at least 2 litres of water a day! Hopefully everything continues to go ok!

How are you feeling? Xx

Daffodil21 · 05/01/2021 16:34

@HalGem99 ah I don't lay there for 20 mins. But I do do it just before I sit and eat breakfast, there hasn't been too much leakage (sorry 🙈) so I assume it's ok?

I'm feeling huge to be honest. I've puffed up (possibly cyclogest?) and the pred is not helping matters as I'm hungry basically all the time, and I'm eating much more than I used to. Starting to get the classic 'moon face' from it too. My DH says he can't see it but I think he's just being polite 😂
