Ah Musicflower hope you're ok. I remember you saying today was going to be tough but at least it's nearly over. There's nothing anyone can say really as you've had a rubbish time but I think it does get easier over time. I just really hope you get some good news soon.

If it helps I'm also feeling crap tonight. Often feel like this at the end of the day. Just keep panicking & feeling really guilty that DD might end up as an only child and feel like she'd really like a little brother or sister. I know it's early days & I am so grateful for what I've got & most of the time feel would be happy if it's just us. But feel bad for her. Also keep looking at active threads and stupidly getting upset at seeing the due in October thread & any others which hit a nerve...hoping I still have some pregnancy hormones making me mental!

MusicFlower · 24/03/2012 21:33

teaandchocolate thanks. Yep, today has sucked but, like you, I already have a dc so I know how lucky I am. We went to the park today and there were so many pregnant women. I can't imagine how much harder it would be if I didn't have him!

I have tried to stay away from other threads to be honest since I clicked on the one moaning about feeling so ill in the first trimester. Really not the place for me at the moment (although I can sympathise because I was ill for almost the whole 9 months with ds). And the due in October thread - too sad.

It doesn't help me that you are feeling crap tonight too, although thanks for trying!

teaandchocolate · 24/03/2012 21:50

Ha you're welcome! Finding tv tonight is making me smile which is good.

I know how hard it is when you don't have a DC. After my 1st mc I literally didn't cope. It's much easier this time but still a horrible thing to go through & although not a shock I do keep worrying about the future.

We also went to the park with loads of babies & little sibblings :( I don't even have to open the threads to feel sad - just seeing due in oct keep popping up in active threads makes me sad! x

tedmundo · 25/03/2012 12:45

teaandchoc and musicflower - sorry you were having such a pants night last night girls. I watched Secret Millionaire and BGT to excuse my emotional tears! How amazing was that 17yr old opera dude?!

Anyway, today I have had a BFN so I feel like that is the end now and I can truly move on. The BFN was 2 weeks after the EPRC for those this info may help..?

We have decided just to go for it (TTC) straight away so will start testing on the OPKs in a few days to see when I ovulate. In the meantime, we are going to DTD anyway just to cheer us up a bit! And get those good quality sperms a go-go.

I don't know whether to stick around here or go over to the TTC threads in Conception? Maybe linger on both for a while if that is OK? It could be a good while til I am ovulating so feel a fraud in the Pregnancy section.

Also it is a bit scary on there as it can be an assult on the emotions just reading the topic titles. :(

I have read it can take a good few weeks to ovulate after MC. Thankfully got a job lot of OPKs on ebay - cheapie ones.

Annoyingly I can't namecheck the person going to a scan tomorrow - but best of luck for that. I will be thinking of you. I live in Bristol and it seems A LOT easier here to get that EPU scan. I literally phoned the midwife once the bleeding started, she faxed a referral to the unit to be there when I turned up. It is a first come first served place but fair do's - we all got seen same day. Just a lot of sitting around.

I describe the experience that morning at EPY to DH as schrodinger's cat - until the sonographer inserted her awful phallus scanner thing, the baby was both dead and alive at the same time. A very, very odd few hours as I had bleeding with DS1 and everything was fine, so did kind of feel like it would be OK. But it wasn't :(

Sorry about the essay. Hugs to you all and hope everyone feels better today.

Hello everyone,

I've deleted the pregnancy threads I was following the day after my miscarriage so that I would not have to deal with it, I also unsubscribed from other pregnancy related sites immediately. What a terrible week. My manager has actually told me to get signed off for another week so I have a GP appointment tomorrow, and that's a relief to have someone else make the decision.

Now, I have a question for this wealth of experience! I started bleeding Friday, miscarried properly over Sunday night/monday morning. Simply for the purpose of tracking my cycle I took an ovulation test this morning, so 10 days after bleeding started, expecting it to be negative, and it was positive. I'm only just home so this is the first time I can google to find out whether it can be a glitch of miscarriages to get a false reading or whether I am actually about to ovulate, but has this happenened to any of you? I'll take a pregnancy test in the morning to check that I'm "done" with the miscarriage process.

If you have any ideas/experience/tips send them my way!

wrigle · 25/03/2012 19:15

Just read previous posts, sorry for all of you experiencing anniversaries this weekend, I know the feeling.

tedmundo · 25/03/2012 20:32

wrigle - opk sticks test for Lh BUT they will also show positive for Hcg too. you are most likely still showing Hcg in your pee and that is the positive result. Try again with a preg test to confirm if you are unsure.

The best description I read was that Lh and Hcg are 'identical twins'. Opks cannot tell them apart so show positive for seeing either 'twin' but preg tests know which one is which and will only show positive for the Hcg twin.

ALSO - opk sticks can show a positive for low level Lh in your wee so it could also be that you are just one of those people who have a higher level of Lh naturally. To be ovulating the test line must be as strong or stronger than the control line I.e. the Lh surge. Hope this helps. As you can see I am well read on this. Sadly.

Tea time. Xx

Hi tedmundo

Thanks. Yesterday was pretty hard but today I got my AF (no pregnancy straight after for me then :() so I am trying to put it all behind me now.

I want to conceive again and have thought about tracking ovulation (all new to me!) but don't want to get all obsessive about it (yeah, right!) I don't know anything about these opk sticks you are talking about. Is there a dummies guide anywhere?

Thanks :)

tedmundo · 25/03/2012 21:24

Ok - all you need is an eBay account and bob is your uncle! V cheap, pee in a pot and dangle a stick in types. Not at all posh but do the job very nicely.

Www.peeonastick.com was a fab website

Hope this helps

And I am sorry to hear it is over this month. Sorry in my excitement on working out how to post a link I forgot my manners. I hope you are ok and if you are anything like me, just knowing your cycle will help I am sure. Good luck. X

Yes tedmundo I am fine thanks. I finally feel I know where I am (back to the beginning rather than in some limbo so that is something). Nothing in this situation is good but at least I am not waiting for ages. Thanks for the link. Off to have a look ...

MusicFlower · 25/03/2012 21:53

Well done on posting the link :)

zonat92 · 25/03/2012 22:09

Hii can i join please :) .. My story- I got BFP , couldnt believe it. took 1 after the other for days. then went to GP ( with ALL the tests) haha. he took 1 their 7pm at night. threw it in the bin, and said " no your not - its negative" i said oh, well what about these tests, he said they wer faulty, and i explained they where all different brands! anyway he told me to go home. So left confused but believing him! i just NEW something wasnt right! i took my own test again, and was Confused but thought nothing of it. and just thought the dr was right the tests where faulty!! about 4 days late what i believed to be AF arrived. i went too work, and came home in the afternoon feeling awful. by tea time was feeling even worse and so much pain, and suddenly got an urge for the toilet, as i got to the toilet i passed an unmistakable ( tiny ) fetus :(. was in shock, went to out of hours to have this confirmed, and a midwife examined it, and said she think i was around 8weeks! Was all such a shock and happened soo quick! went for scans at epu, and was also confirmed by womb size etc, and ovarian cyst discoved at same time, they say theres no link, but they seem to be found quite often after miscarriage as ive heard :/ anyway! no D&C. But horrible pelvic, bladder, kidney and bowl infection followed 3weeks later when i was rushed to A&E in agony!! .. i think ive covered most of my horrible experience, left some details out but thats the basics. my period took 6weeks too return, im not ttc again :) positive opk last thursday! 8 days untill testing, which falls on my beautiful sons 1st birthday :) exiting. So Sorry for all your losses :( lots of baby dust ladies!!! xxx

zonat92 · 25/03/2012 22:12
  • i ment i AM ttc again :) haha
wrigle · 26/03/2012 08:46

Zonat92, that's an awful experience. I have found that I learn a lot from other people's experiences, and I research them if they seem to need back up, or I need to keep rare experiences in statistical balance, and then when I speak with a medical expert they disregard my input, that's been very annoying but I am still (a bit) emotional!

Thanks tedmundo, I did both tests this morning and the pregnancy test still has a feint line and the ovulation test still has two strong lines. My body isn't ready for sex yet anyway, I'm just desperate. Am gratefully taking my manager's advice and have a gp appt today to get signed off for the week. Feel's self indulgent, but my partner's been home with me all last week and that was wonderful and I wouldn't trade that in for anything, but I think I do need some time to myself to mope a bit and do some internet searching.

Today would have been week 12, I was only a week away from the nice sigh everyone gets to exhale, oh dear...!

tedmundo · 26/03/2012 09:22

zonat92 that is a jaw dropping experience. You poor thing. I really hope you get the right result next week. Sending sticky bean thoughts your way right now.

zonat92 · 26/03/2012 10:40

Thanks ladies! I think atleast i learnt from it that nomatter what 'professionals' say, i can trust my own instincts when somethings wrong. Sent a rather graphic letter of complaint too this dr after it hapened and moved GP!
I blame the fact it was a late appointment and he just wanted too get home, silly man!! every dr/ nurse who i have seen since has said i should have been refered at that point, you cant get a false posative :)

teaandchocolate · 26/03/2012 14:00

Zonat you poor thing! what an awful experience! I cannot believe how rubbish the medical profession can be sometimes. IIf you're anything like me then by the time you've finished googling you'll be more clued up than most GPs about pregnancy and mc.... hope you only get good news from now on.

Tedmundo 'good' news about the BFN! Sounds like your body is responding well as 2 weeks is about right isn't it. After my 1st mc it took ages for me to get back to normal so hope its not the same this time. I have to confess I've never done opks as my cycle was so irregular therer never seemed any point. You should definitely hang out here and on conception til you feel more sure of what's going on..its a really weird time. Oh and yes opera bloke on BGT was amazing! I had a proper TV fest on Sat night (DP was out) and cried at everything...!!

I don't feel at all ready try again yet so am definitely staying on this thread for a while. Have got a plan of action to put into place before ttc which I hope will help keep me sane (vitamins, accupuncture, diet & exercise) and hopefully increase my chances of getting another bfp at some point. Am really nervous though....

qazxc · 26/03/2012 15:58

hi, Just had an incomplete miscarriage last week. had erpc on friday, and still bleeding and sore. i wasn't given much info as to what happens from now. i don't know what bleeding is normal or how long it should last. same with pain. are there any things i need to avoid? or anything that will help recovery? I was planning to go back to work today but as i was still bleeding and sore i took a day off to be on the safe side. i don't work in an office and sometimes work can be quite physical. when will it be safe to resume normal physical activity and exercise? emotionally i am getting lots of support it's the physical side that is troubling me.

zonat92 · 26/03/2012 16:42

Tea&chocolate- yes i think i should go into the medical field after all the research haha!

qazxc- so sorry for your loss :( i don't really no the answers to your questions, but hopfully someone on here can help. as i found the physical pain started effecting me emotionally, its like a constant reminder! all the best hunny!!

wrigle · 26/03/2012 16:43

Hi qazxc, I'm sorry to hear abut your experience, that sounds more tough than what I've experienced so I don't have any advice but wanted to send you a hug of support, good to hear you're getting plenty of that though.

teaandchocolate · 26/03/2012 16:55

Hi qazxc sorry you're going through this. I've had 2 missed miscarriages and 2 erpcs - last one just over 2 weeks ago. I think the pain and bleeding varies to be honest but this time I was sore for about 4/5 days. It was just mild cramping but on 4th and 5th night after the op I got really bad cramping which was still normal apparently. I bled really lightly to start with then it got heavier about 3 days after and was heavy-ish for a week (still only 1 pad a day though) and then much lighter/brown. I have more or less finished bleeding now. Sorry if TMI!!! I reckon up to 2 weeks bleeding is about normal but if its very heavy or large clots (or smells) I'd give the EPU a call to check. Also if you have bad pain that ibuprofen/paracetomol can't help I'd do the same.

I wasnt given advice on whether I could resume normal activity but I took it easy for the 1st few days and only just started doing proper exercise. I guess because I wasn't told I presume it was ok to do whatever I felt comfortable with but I didn't feel like doing much when I was in pain and bleeding.

I don't think there's much you can do to help recovery to be honest apart from resting. I'd stay off work as long as you feel you need to - there's no 'standard' time. I think if you're dealing with the emotional side of it ok then you're doing really well.

tedmundo · 26/03/2012 17:31

Hi qazxc, so sorry to hear about your mc. It is a tough time so take the time you need. If your employer needs a sick note I am sure a dr will sign you off for a few days. My bleeding after the Eric was light and stopped after ten days or thereabouts. but I had bled A LOT before the ERPC so most tissue etc had already gone. Not sure if this has an impact on the subsequent bleeding.??

Teaandchoc - I think the bfn is good news, that is how I am seeing it anyway. I am taking that bfn as the start of my cycle so I hope to ovulate in a couple of weeks. I am feeling pretty good, lost a few pounds without trying, cut back on the wine now the novelty has worn off, so hopefully will also be getting back in shape.

I am not ancient, but no spring chickie either so do realise that while this is not the last chance saloon, I prob only would try for another year or so before calling it a day. For all three of my pregnancies, 2 dc and then this mc, I got preg first or second month though so we are praying this will be the same.

Better cook those dc some tea now and get myself off mn. If you want to be distracted from Mc this thread is now in the classics and rightly so .....

I have got my energy back after 10 weeks of pregnancy and a week and a half post MC, today I have cleaned the house and done minor diy around the house. So now I can ADD that to my shopping as forms of diversion until we can try again! If you need any painting done, I'm bad at it, but I'm consistent and tenacious!

wrigle · 27/03/2012 15:54

that link loks hilarious, just going to get a glass of wine (yes I KNOW it's early) and sit down for a proper read!
