Hrt patches and ads?

Baddz · 29/06/2015 20:53

My go thinks I am in menopause/peri menopause.
I am 42 and am having lots of troubling symptoms, and my periods are now slightly irregular and only last 2/3 days (instead of 7)
I am getting horrendous hot flushes.
Headaches, nausea, need to wee all the time, almost psychotic rage the week before my period, hugely sore boobs, palpitations....it's really really affecting the quality of my life.
I have had a blood test and an ecg andI am hoping to see her again on weds.
Has anyone used patches and ads together?
That's her suggestion.
I am all for anything that could make me feel better tbh :(

Hi there, I think you will find that I said this:
The British Menopause Society is not funded - to my knowledge- by drugs companies

I am quite happy to be informed they have some support from drug companies (and other companies who do not make drugs) but equally I think it's totally ridiculous to suggest that top consultants on the BMS and ALL the people who contributed to the NICE guidelines out on 1 June ( go to NICE website and the document to see all the names) are somehow promoting HRT over other treatments.

The whole point of the NICE project was to dispel the myths about HRT that have existed since the research in 2002 ( now discredited), help GPs be better informed about HRT and tell them to stop prescribing ADs when HRT is necessary. When someone comes along and accuses posters of 'selective quotes' it's just a nonsense. (especially when they add their own 'selective' quotes-how ironic is that!) ADs have their place when a woman is diagnosed with depression.

The NICE document is over 200 pages and there is a summary too. If you want to read it so that you avoid selective quotes by someone unqualified, then please read it yourselves.

Wohh, chill man! Such aggression and hostility is totally unnecessary.

pinkfrocks · 01/07/2015 12:10

it's a very hot day!
Apologies- wasn't aimed at you but a certain other poster has a back-history of causing waves on the forum.

Baddz · 01/07/2015 12:34

Baddz · 01/07/2015 16:22

The way I feel ATM I may well end up sobbing in the waiting room floor Sad
DC are in the paddling pool, chic ices have been given and I am staying inside.
I simply cannot cope with this heat.
Strangely it was last weds I felt very ill too - that's what made me go to the Dr!

No infection in bladder. Maybe urethral because of hormones is worse when I sit down like its being squashed. Hopefully see gynae next week. Face is like worms. Feel desperate for some relief

Baddz · 01/07/2015 18:31

Well I am sat here with a hrt patch on my thigh!she said my ecg was ok and sort of made a face and said my bloods were ok but am guessing from her tone and facial expression they were low end of normal.
So, I have a 3 month supply.
Just hope to god it works!
Peter...really hope you get some relief soon x

Yay! I hope this helps. What patches did she give you? I'm on Evorel Sequi.

Baddz · 01/07/2015 18:38

That's the one!

Mimigolightly · 01/07/2015 18:45

It's cleared up all of my symptoms, including the anxiety and panic attacks. I've had a few mild side effects but, overall, the benefits far outweigh these.

Baddz · 01/07/2015 18:48

Fingers x!

OP posts:
Mimigolightly · 01/07/2015 18:50

Yes - fingers crossed. Let us know how you get on.

PeterSpots · 01/07/2015 19:40

:)

Baddz · 01/07/2015 19:42

Can I ask what your side effects were?
(Please don't feel you have to answer)
I have 2 weeks before my hols with Dh, DC and pils!
So....of you hear of a woman running amok in northernseasidetown you will know it's me! Smile

Mimigolightly · 01/07/2015 19:54

I've had a little weight gain around my middle, some water retention and some dark patches appear on my face. Nothing too bad and, as I mentioned, nothing compared to how I was feeling before.

Baddz · 01/07/2015 20:31

I can live with that!!

OP posts:
Mimigolightly · 01/07/2015 20:57

You may not even get these side effects as everyone is different.

When I go back for my 3 month review I'm going to ask to try the Oestrogel and Ustrogen (I think that's how it's spelled) to see if I can get rid of these minor side effects.

Baddz · 01/07/2015 22:16

Would it be a bad thing to cover myself in hrt patches like post it notes!? ????

OP posts:
PeterSpots · 01/07/2015 22:20

I think that would be the best option! It could be a trial for the 'post it note treatment plan'

Baddz · 03/07/2015 16:32

How are you today Peter? X

OP posts:
PeterSpots · 03/07/2015 17:55

Not great. Doctor has given me tablets in case my patch falls off again. I told him how much pain I'm in behind mynpubic bone like a knawing & the spasm in my face. He said he can't help me anymore & to see the gynae & maxilliofacial consultant. Im going to ask face man for an Mir to check my neck or bloods. I can't believe this is just from clenching. I'm really struggling. Went to see a Physio for a chat yesterday & she thinks the face spasms are coming from my neck but I justc don't know. I'm not coping. It's so overwhelming to have these symptoms. I am retreating & loosing hope. Maybe the hrt will be a miracle but I dont know. How are you?

PeterSpots · 03/07/2015 18:10

Told my doctor how painful the pelvic pain is & he just said they may never know what's wrong with me & the same for my face.
