Menopause

Hrt patches and ads?

Baddz · 29/06/2015 20:53

My go thinks I am in menopause/peri menopause.
I am 42 and am having lots of troubling symptoms, and my periods are now slightly irregular and only last 2/3 days (instead of 7)
I am getting horrendous hot flushes.
Headaches, nausea, need to wee all the time, almost psychotic rage the week before my period, hugely sore boobs, palpitations....it's really really affecting the quality of my life.
I have had a blood test and an ecg andI am hoping to see her again on weds.
Has anyone used patches and ads together?
That's her suggestion.
I am all for anything that could make me feel better tbh :(

Hi everyone
Thought I would update.
Have stopped the hrt today...am bleeding heavily (again) and have been really dizzy for the past week.
I am going back to Dr in a couple of weeks and will see what she suggests
Pretty fed up really.

Thank you. I can't remember if that was what happened when I had pelvic congestion years ago. I will try the vagifem to see but I know things aren't right. I have told all the doctors I have seen. If only really noticed it since I've been drinking water non stop. Thank you for replying. I should probably not post anymore as it's not really then menopause

This is where you might get help if covered by your insurance

Hello. Thank you. I mentioned it when I was in hospital & to the gynaecologist today. Didn't seem to register. I will try the vagifem & have the MRI & go from there. It's like no one is listening. I know it's not right.

I'm sorry that you are suffering so much Flowers but I also don't think anyone has any answers. If you have no bladder pain it is unlikely to be IC because that is usually pain, frequency and urgency or at least 2 of those- look at the COB website.

There is a condition called 'urethral syndrome' ( google) which is an umbrella term for the kind of problem you have ( the pain) and which may or may not be a sub-condition of IC- no one really knows.

If you read the IC forum on the COB site you may find that it often takes a very long time to get either a diagnosis or treatment. The US is ahead of the UK with research and many women in the UK read up on it then ask their drs to try something. There is a hospital / specialist in Birmingham who does a lot of work with IC- you can always try that if your insurance would cover another opinion.

If you can't feel that your bladder is full then that seems to say that there is something not right with the nerves, and there are various conditions where this can happen. You should tell the dr about this and see what they suggest re. further tests.

Hello. I wanted to ask since this began I haven't been able to feel my bladder is full. I only feel the sensation of pain low on the left hand side. Could this be nerve or problem from low oestrogen. It's strange because after hours I tjbkn I should go (i suppose I don't rush because I burn after) I so full that I should feel it

Hello. Thank you. It's hard to see straight when things have become out of your control & the pain is so engulfing Been to see gynaecologist. Having MRI to rule out nerve problem. He has given me vagifem to try. If this does not solve anything then he will refer me to a place that specialises in pelvic pain but I don't know if they look at the cause or try to eliminate the pain.

Apologies in advance, Baddz, for going back on my word Flowers.

Peterspots, if you didn't have the cystoscopy the doctors would still be wondering if your problem was bladder related. Your condition may have got worse even if you hadn't have had the cystoscopy, which would also be delaying them getting to the bottom of this.

It may be the wrong hrt, too much, too little, the need for local oestrogen, or something totally unrelated.

When you are suffering so badly it's easy to clutch at straws, taking advice from here, there, and everywhere. The best people to help you are trained professionals, who can look at all of your medical history, your thyroid issues, previous health issues, and current symptoms, to try to get to the bottom of what's causing you so much pain.

Probably the best piece of advice I can offer is to tell the gynae exactly how bad you feel. Tell them if it is worse at certain times of day, or worse depending on the situation. i.e. after the loo, a shower, after sitting for ages, standing for ages etc. etc.

Easy for me to say? Yes, because a few years ago I was climbing the walls with pain.

Take care and good luck.

I'm really hoping on the least invasive & praying I need the oestrogen & it's a horrible reaction but I think in my heart I don't think I will be lucky & the posts I've read where people are better. I've lost all hope. The hospital was such an awful experience. The f1 just looked at me like I was a time wasting bit of dirt. I have to carry on at home but what option do I have

Hello. Thank you. It's two weeks tomorrow. It is still sore I think it was being masked by the pain killers in hospital. Sorry to post so miserable. Sorru for tmi but I am lubricated downstairs. Could it still be lack of eostrogen. I am taking a leaflet when me from bladder & bowel foundation on the effects of the menopause to the consultant today as one of the possible treatment options.

  1. oestrogen

MRI/ct scan
2.pelvix congestion
  1. Pelvic pain clinic

The cystoscopy has made me worse. Why did I do it.

Do you think it could take weeks. You can see by my posts I'm so desperate for reassurance &
Then I'm left with it & get so low

One thing to try is a TEns machine- you can buy this. It stops the pain by working on nerves in the spine. Talk to your dr about it.

Not sure how long it is since your investigation but it may take 3 weeks or so for the trauma to disappear. I know this seems like an age but you WILL get better.

Is the morphine not helping?

Thank you. this has stopped my life. I am so desperate at the moment &
The only thing that will help is the pain to go. I'm worried how j will cope if it doesn't. I am worried about how desperate I feel. It's a never ending knawing pain. I know I have to dig deep but I see my life disappear each day. I'm sorry this isn't the place to express my desperation & dark thoughts. X

Thank you. I've said it. I don't know how to cope with this. I called the Samaritans before I went to hospital. I don't know how to get through the days. It's torture. I am burning & hurting so much underneath. The pain from the custoscopy on top of what's there has broken me. How am I ever going to get better. I am existing not living.

I'm bleeding again...sigh.
Dr said to go back if it gets worse or I get pain.
Might have to just ride it out.

I think I have bladder pain or the ache I have on the left behind my pubic bone or it's the pelvic congestion. The burning after I pass takes my breath away. Really I don't know. I just don't know.
