Anyone in Cheshire/Staffordshire?

We are moving to Madeley Heath in about 4 weeks (from Tuscany) and I wondered if there was anyone local to this place and if they could fill me in on things to see and places to go.

We will be opening a restaurant there too so although I wont have much free time, it would be nice to meet some people for coffee.

Anyone out there????

Collission, was your dh in the paper? I didn;t notice anything but may have missed it.

Did anyone see me, dd and ds in last week's Sentinelle? Talking about Gina Ford!

julienetmum · 22/03/2006 21:44

A couple of friends of mine go to the Audley toddler group. Apparently it is really nice.

collision · 28/03/2006 16:24

Sorry Julie, just read this. Are you from Netmums too?

DH was in the paper with a quote about being smokefree last week. No photo as far as I know.

We had Alan Cookman, food critic for the Sentinel, in on Sunday. Not sure if he is doing a piece on us or not. If he does, I do hope it is good!!

Didnt see you in the paper though. Dont buy the Sentinel!

What was it you saw about DH in the paper?

julienetmum · 28/03/2006 22:45

Way down thr thread I remember you said your dh was in a photo shoot for the Sentinel so I wondered whether it had been featured.

I hope Alan Cookman gives you a rave review. I'm going to have to sort out some babysitting and pay a visit. Hope yo ucan cope with an ultra fussy eater Blush

I was a netmums editor but resigned a few weeks ago as I had too much on. Dh runs his own business, I work p/t for my Dad's company (if you ever need a plumber you know who to call) and I am Chair of the NCT too. I was doing too much and had to cut down.

collision · 29/03/2006 23:08

They didnt do the other feature unfortunately.

You sound v busy. Netmums in this area seems very good. Are there any soft play areas in the Newcastle area that you know of?

OP posts:
collision · 29/03/2006 23:08

what sort of fussy eater are you?

OP posts:
julienetmum · 29/03/2006 23:48

I've not been since it re-opened but the soft play area at Freeport in Talke is supposed to be very good.

I eat very plain food I'm afraid, no sauces, spices, absolutely no cheese, pasta, rice, very boring and a nightmare when we go out. I do have a phobia about trying new foods though I am getting a little better.

Dh eats everything, he loves trying different things. Thankfully the children seem to be taking after him not me.

collision · 29/03/2006 23:54

eh? Sorry, but I dont think you will like it here!!!!! Grin

What on earth do you eat?

OP posts:
collision · 02/04/2006 18:42

We had the restaurant review today in the Sentinel and it was BRILLIANT!!!

We are soooooo happy!

P21 of the Sunday Sentinel if any of you read it!

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 02/04/2006 19:12

Oh poo collision I haven't bought it today. Will see if I can scrounge a copy. Glad it was good Smile

julienetmum · 02/04/2006 22:20

Great review, and I now know your name!!!!!

Dh loves the sound of your menu, I think I would struggle though. Do you do anything plain at all, like a plain steak Blush

Dh has always wanted to go on holiday to Italy but I won't becasue I won'e eat the food.

I have read hundreds of Alan Cookman's reviews over the years and yours was a very good one.

collision · 03/04/2006 20:24

LOL at knowing my name!!

Yes, we would do a plain steak for you! We could do fillet steak, sauteed new potatoes and carrots. No sauce.

Whaddy think?

We have been inundated with bookings today.

We are so happy.

OP posts:
julienetmum · 03/04/2006 21:44

sauteed potatoes, now you are talking!!!!! I'm out for dinner next weekend for my nanna's 80th birthday then we are going away for Easter so I'll think about booking up after we get back for a treat. (Dh needs buttering up, I reversed into his car on the drive today Blush

How far ahead should I book? (taking into account your extra custom from the review)

I might even do my own review for the NCT! newsletter

julienetmum · 03/04/2006 21:47

This shows you what I am like!! For tea tonight I did dh, dd and ds chicken breast with ham and mozarella in a (fresh but ready made) napolitana sauce with tagliatelli and broccoli.

I had plain chicken breast, new potatoes and peas.

collision · 05/04/2006 14:57

Oooh! Another review would be great and you could say we are non smoking and child friendly cos the NCT would love that!!! Grin

We have had loads of bookings since the review but you should be fine for booking when you get back! We will sort you out with food you like!

Who is organising a meet up then?!!!!!

Collision - just seen your post on entertainers on another thread - thought this was a better place to respond! I've just booked \link{http://basic1.easily.co.uk/033015/03A025/dennis.html\this magic show} for dd's party. Haven't actually seen him but our nursery has him every christmas and dd has been going on about him regularly for last 5 months (she's 2.9 so must have had a big impact!). He also does shows at cadbury's world so hoping for good things, if you can wait I'll let you know!

loupylou · 04/06/2006 21:48

i've been away from here for a while but i'm back now and in the Newcastle area

collision · 07/06/2006 22:24

OK....what about a meetup in Newcastle with or without kids.

Can everyone do Newcastle and what days are best for everyone?

OP posts:
julienetmum · 10/06/2006 21:45

Mondays or Thursdays are good for me.

collision · 11/06/2006 00:30

Mondays are good for me too.....with children!

OP posts:
julienetmum · 11/06/2006 21:48

Monday mornings I would just have ds (aged 2), dd (aged 4) is in nursery (in Newcastle) until lunchtime
