We are moving to Madeley Heath in about 4 weeks (from Tuscany) and I wondered if there was anyone local to this place and if they could fill me in on things to see and places to go.

We will be opening a restaurant there too so although I wont have much free time, it would be nice to meet some people for coffee.

Anyone out there????

Bye

JulieF · 07/08/2005 21:23

Golds are you near to Walton, dh used to have a part-time job where he travelled to the shcool there.

I think a meet-up is in order. I don't suppose we will have to think very long about a venue, pub lunch anyone?

diva4mgl · 10/08/2005 01:00

meet-up

ronniebaby · 10/08/2005 19:47

I live in Staffordshire - Tamworth.

diva4mgl · 10/08/2005 23:36

JulieF we almost neighbours, im actually Kidsgrove, sorry being so stupid, Im new here(Staffordshire) so i thought people wont know Kidsgrove, being only small place. Where in newchapel are you? Friend said that there is mums and toddler group on Mondays. Do you go there? I havent been yet.

BadHair · 10/08/2005 23:40

I'm in Whitchurch, North Shrops, which is about 30 mins away. Love to meet up.

collision · 11/08/2005 14:56

Badhair...we nearly moved to Whitchurch. Is there a pub there called the Horse and Jockey?

I don't go the the Monday toddlers as Monday is NCT coffee morning but if it is one at Thursfield it's just around the corner to me.

I go to St James' on Thursday's, it's a lovely friendly group.

Both groups have broken up for the summer holidays now but will start back in September.

mushypeas · 14/08/2005 00:58

Oh, how exciting! I live about two miles away from Madeley Heath and have friends and colleagues living in Madeley. IMO the place is crying out for a decent restaurant/wine bar. I think there's more money around here than people think. One of the pubs in Madeley has recently undergone refurbishment but they seem to serve fairly standard pub food. There are some restaurants and pubs out towards Woore. Have you bought somewhere already?
Post on here if you want to meet up or have any questions, and good luck with the move

golds · 14/08/2005 09:15

yes I would love to meet up, I am sure too that one mumsnetter lives in Rugeley.

Yes I do live near Walton, the reason I moved here, as it is a very good school.

Went to the Monkey Forest on Thursday at Trentham and it was brilliant, there are only 3 in the world, france, germany and Trentham. Well worth it - £5 for adults, £3.50 kids under 4's free. Take your own picnic though as 4 drinks (coffee) cost me £9

Where would you recommend a meet, what about that pub, thats in the middle of the round-a-bout (can't think of name) north of Stone, the one where you can turn of to Nantwich, it has a Wacky ? sorry useless with descriptions or elsewhere, don't mind

galletti · 14/08/2005 10:23

The Darlaston Inn? At least it used to be called that. On the A34 just before Stone if coming from Trentham.

golds · 14/08/2005 13:22

yes thats the one - just a suggestion as I don't know many places

loupylou · 21/08/2005 17:41

i'm in Silverdale, but work in Kidsgrove. Am i right in thinking Madeley Heath is near Madeley and Woore?? or am i in the wrong place altogether!

mushypeas · 22/08/2005 20:52

It's on the way to Madeley from Newcastle - it is Madeley, really but it's the bit before you get to the main village.

collision · 23/08/2005 19:48

Sorry for hijackking thread

leggymamba · 29/08/2005 14:36

Hello everyone,
golds - I also live near you, hixon, the other side of shugborough. Have been dying to meet up with poeple as all the toddler groups have been shut for the summer and I get very claustraphobic (sp?) stuck at home! Have been living mainly at Shugborough Farm for the last 5 weeks! I have dd (2) and ds (4 months)

Good luck with the move from italy - hope you've got lots of help

collision · 01/09/2005 19:39

We have no help at all and are managing to do it with 2 children. Fun and games!

Removals arrive on Tuesday and then we can relax a bit before we fly over.
