mrsmopthehoople · 24/02/2009 15:15

oooh can i come too iv only just moved here and i dont know anyone. my kids are both at school do you have to have young kids only?

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 24/02/2009 15:52

Oh, I'd love to come but I'm based in Okehampton and don't drive so probably won't be able to. I'll watch the thread with interest though in case I find a way to get in to town DH works in Exeter but leaves at 7.15am so probably a bit daft to catch a lift with him.

DD is 7 months atm.

Fennel · 24/02/2009 16:13

mrsmop, mine are all school age now, and there are a few mumsnetters around here with primary age children who do come to meetups.

If it's at a weekend I could come with 3dc or without, depending on what other people are doing. It does make for a lot of children though when we all bring all of ours. last time we met up like that and it was quite hard to actually talk to anyone (I sort of met hoochiemama then but not to actually talk to, it was too noisy and chaotic).

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 24/02/2009 20:08

I could almost certainly come if it was a weekend (and could leave DD with DH, which should be interesting!).

Obv. depends on everyone else though!

diedandgonetodevon · 24/02/2009 20:15

Definitely sounds like the weekend is the most popular.

Is there anyone who can't make a Saturday or Sunday?

OP posts:
PhoenixFirefly · 24/02/2009 20:28

i can make sunday as long as i have at least a weeks notice to rearrange my day off at work

PhoenixFirefly · 24/02/2009 20:30

twentiethcenturyheffa dont the X9 and the 510 buses run from okehampton to exeter?

PhoenixFirefly · 24/02/2009 20:31

oh nevermind, i just remembered they dont run on sunday

Fennel · 24/02/2009 20:55

I've been on the train from Exeter to Okehampton on a Sunday and back, but maybe it only runs at certain times or seasons?

PhoenixFirefly · 24/02/2009 21:04

i think (but i could be wrong) that they closed that train line

Fennel · 24/02/2009 21:06

Maybe it closed generally but just runs on Sundays, or something like that. Or Sundays in summer.

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 24/02/2009 21:57

I don't think there's a train anymore, I was told that it's all closed. I've heard tell of a special line that runs from Okehampton to Meldon though, although someone else told me that was closed too. The buses do run, so if the meet-up was mid-week I'd look into that. At the weekend I can get a lift from DH easily enough.

Fennel · 25/02/2009 08:42

No, I looked it up, the train I went on is only a summer Sunday special. For people who like vintage train journeys and walking. Apparently. I'd thought I was just on a normal train journey but it seems it was a special Heritage Experience.

pageturner · 25/02/2009 11:18

HoochieMomma! You asked for me! How are those gorgeous dts?

Add me to the list, I'll certainly come if I can. I have 3 dcs all at primary school and am usually around. Can be flexible about days, though obviously would have all three dcs at the weekend (10, 8 and 6).

belcantwait · 25/02/2009 13:01

hi my gosh this thread has moved quickly!
belcantwait- mondays, tuesdays (with dd 4.1), thursdays (with dd) and weekends.
sunday is cool with me as wont have to bring any kids hurrah!!! (if its in the pm)

piximon · 25/02/2009 20:03

I'd like to come, could do weekdays if I can fit around the school run (on the bus so would have to be mid morning) but fri, sat sun are best as can leave some dcs with dh.

I have ds1 6, dd1 4, b/g dts 2, and ds3 not quite 11mths and live near exeter.

Icanseethesea · 25/02/2009 21:09

I'd like to come, I'm in Budleigh
I can do fri, sat, sun, like piximon, can leave the dc's with dh!

PhoenixFirefly · 25/02/2009 21:09

ok, looks liek sunday it is then. if it is during the day i will have to bring Ds as DH will be working

PhoenixFirefly · 25/02/2009 21:10

sorry, that would be like i think that is twice i've done that on this thread now

PhoenixFirefly · 25/02/2009 21:13
