so its between the phoenix and BTP?

bluebump · 22/02/2009 21:21

My DS likes meeting new people, he's only 6 months and just had half of Spain giving him a cuddle last week, I think it's his blue eyes!

diedandgonetodevon · 22/02/2009 21:21

Look that way. Personally I'm happy with either

yes the phoenix is good with buggies

pavlovthecat · 22/02/2009 21:28

Yes I mean the Phoenix! I recall seeing a few bands there, and a very drunk new year at one of their parties...oh those where the days... I suppose drinking several pints before heading up gandy street trying on expensive dresses would be inappropriate now with mumsnetters present to dissaprove DD in tow!

Fennel · 22/02/2009 21:33

I went to see A REAL BAND at the Phoenix just recently, I felt all young and trendy and studenty, it started at 11pm.

but I was really pleased to come home to bed.

PhoenixFirefly · 22/02/2009 21:33

i'm probably not a proper mumsnetter then, because i wouldnt dissaprove of that, although expensive dress shops scare the life out of me lol

PhoenixFirefly · 22/02/2009 21:34

where exactly is the phoenix anyway?

francagoestohollywood · 22/02/2009 21:36

fennel, 11 o'clock? Who did you see? I'm ashamed to say that during my yrs in exeter I've never been to the phoenix for any concert, but just for nct meet ups

francagoestohollywood · 22/02/2009 21:37

off gandy st

pavlovthecat · 22/02/2009 21:39

Phoenix - cool, I shall link arms with you then, we can pretend we are drinking lemonade and coke (I used to do this when I was a child, to look like I had a beer!).

Then we will go try on an Gucci dress...ok? .

What band did you see Fennel? Last band I saw there was Eat Static, twas a long while ago now.

PhoenixFirefly · 22/02/2009 21:40

sounds like a plan pavlov

francagoestohollywood · 22/02/2009 21:41

Hang on there Pavlov, has exeter changed so much? Gucci dresses? Where?

Fennel · 22/02/2009 21:43

It was a quite obscure band called Zion train, popular among odd student types in the 90's. My sister's choice for her birthday. the blurb calls it "top-notch reggae-fusion ? soaring vocals, conscious lyrics, high-energy dance beats in a live dub-mix second-to-none."

I had to look it up as I can never describe bands myself.

littlelamb · 22/02/2009 21:44

Ah, do you mean in Willys?? It has shut. Had I known it was on its way out, I would have queued to buy the 'Mens Willys Downstairs' sign

pavlovthecat · 22/02/2009 21:45

There was once a shop, must have gone now I presume, about half way down gandy street, they also had another shop near Central Station, that went though (was the cheaper shop I think. I can't for the life of me remember what it was called, it did Gucci, Armani dresses, sunglasses, shoes. and other big names. I recall having a ball trying on dresses there after my friend and I met for a liquid lunch at the Phoenix!

Oh god what was it called?

pavlovthecat · 22/02/2009 21:46

Littlelamb - oh that would be have been one to queue for!!! I am sure thats the one. Was the other one called Willy's Too?

francagoestohollywood · 22/02/2009 21:57

LOL!

francagoestohollywood · 22/02/2009 21:58

Fennel at the description of the band

dragonbutter · 22/02/2009 22:06

is anyone up for meeting on a weekend?
or is there a time during the week we're all free?

pavlovthecat · 22/02/2009 22:14

I have heard of Zion Train! Not seen them live though!

Dragon - I can do weekends. I see enough of DH to be apart from him for a couple of hours at the weekend!!!

PhoenixFirefly · 22/02/2009 22:15

i might possibly be able to manage a sunday, i'd have to move things about at work but i might be able to, otherwise im free all tuesday

dragonbutter · 22/02/2009 22:17

i nominate pavlov to get pen and paper out and figure out if there's a time when we are all free.

PhoenixFirefly · 22/02/2009 22:19

lol
