diedandgonetodevon · 20/02/2009 14:56

Are there any mums near Exeter who would like to meet up for a natter and a cuppa?

littlelamb · 08/04/2009 10:05

Same as hoochie. I am a two time driving test loser

Fennel · 08/04/2009 10:14

I won't be offended if you want to meet in Exeter on Sat am rather than Haldon, if it suits more people.

DrowningInChocolateEggs · 08/04/2009 21:04

I'm free on Sat, have car (and space to provide a lift if needed) or quite happy to meet in Exeter.

If there were any nappies going DS is a maxi (I realise that, once again, I have probably added this a little late).

PhoenixFirefly · 08/04/2009 21:12

cant do wednesday now either, so i'm out. i'll keep an eye on when the next one is though

nevergoogledragonbutter · 08/04/2009 21:47

am waiting for lidl to send me the details i need to pick up the nappies.
not sure how long it will take.

i have ordered 3 of each size and will give them to whoever takes them off me first.

DrowningInChocolateEggs · 09/04/2009 12:32

NGDB I'm looking forward to introducing DS to you - he's on your list of beautiful and exciting boys names!

nevergoogledragonbutter · 10/04/2009 09:07

oh brilliant.
there were a few good names at the meet up. especially 20thcentury's DD.
but i was impressed with the variety.
well done exeter.

nevergoogledragonbutter · 10/04/2009 09:15

oh dear, just checked my list of exciting boys names and am not sure i will be able to contain my jealousy when i meet your DS.

Fennel · 10/04/2009 11:22

So do we have a definite plan for tomorrow? And if so who's coming and how will we recognise each other? Say at one of the picnic tables near the sandpit at Haldon?

I can bring my list of never-to-be-used boys names - the dds might have been Inigo, Emil and Rufus. Or Jago, Raphael and Felix. Perhaps luckily for them, they were girls so the names are going spare.

littlelamb · 10/04/2009 14:10

Ah Fennel, if I met an Inigo I'm not sure I'd be able to stop myself
My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die [geek emoticon]

diedandgonetodevon · 10/04/2009 14:39

If we have another boy I'm hoping to convince DH to let me use Rufus.

So are we meeting tomorrow? (if so, someone will have to give me directions as despite having lived on the edge of Haldon woods for several years I've never heard of a sandpit..)

belcantwait · 10/04/2009 14:50

oh my goodness! have only just seen this. may come along tomorrow if its still on. i have dss with me as well atm so will have 4 dc with me inc one sullen teenager and one sullen preteenager. should be interesting lol!

diedandgonetodevon · 10/04/2009 15:05

oh good Bel, didn't even get a chance to say hi to you last time!

OP posts:
belcantwait · 10/04/2009 15:07

i Know! never made it to the other end of the table! thought sil was coming tomorrow but she hasnt confirmed so if not we will be there

DrowningInChocolateEggs · 10/04/2009 15:32

Trouble is you'd have to have so many children to use every name which appeals. We had a decent list of girl's names but couldn't agree on anything for a boy until DS was 2 or 3 days old...

I've got no idea where the sandpit is either! Do you park in the main car park? And is there a plan b if it's raining (not that I have little faith in the Devon weather)?

Fennel · 10/04/2009 16:13

DP is geekily fond of Princess Bride.

If you park in the main car park at Haldon forest, there's a cafe/crepe van, to your right, art gallery and empty shed to the left of that, and a big sand pit with climbing frame to the left of that. Just there by the car park. I would say it's hard to miss but clearly not....

It's supposed to be sunny tomorrow. But if not, I don't know. The Orange elephant is near there and has indoor cafe/ice cream parlour which has quite a bit of space. But I'm hoping for a sunny weekend.

diedandgonetodevon · 10/04/2009 16:27

Will definitely need proper directions then. I didn't even know there was a 'main' car park..(or an art gallery come to that!) I obviously used a different bit of forest

Fennel · 10/04/2009 16:36

this is going to be an interesting meet up isn't it, random mumsnetters in different patches of the Haldon hills.

Here www.forestry.gov.uk/forestry/infd-6t7ckn is the place I was thinking of. There are directions, and if you squint at that photo at the top, there's an old brown shed with picnic benches around it. And if you squint harder there is a play area (that's the sandpit) behind the picnic benches and shed. The main car park is on your left. the crepe and coffee stands are behind you.

I was imagining being where that photo shows.

diedandgonetodevon · 10/04/2009 16:50

well bugger me gosh, by the looks of it I must have driven past it at least twice a day every day for about 3 years when I was living in Doddiscombesleigh but never noticed it.

OP posts:
nevergoogledragonbutter · 10/04/2009 17:45

what time?

piximon · 10/04/2009 18:41

I might be able to make it, but would have dh in tow as I can't drive.

Dh says he could offer you a lift LL if you're free. Will have to check on car seats as I'm not sure if we have one here for your dd (oh the irony). I think we have one booster cushion and definitely have a spare baby seat. Let me know and I'll have a hunt around the garage.

littlelamb · 10/04/2009 18:59

Thanks for the offer pixi. Not entirely sure what the plan is tomorrow, I think it's going to start with a trip to hospital Had to take ds to the walk in centre today with a hugely swollen willy that has since got worse. Poor little guy. We are going to try and go early (may even get devon docs out tonight). If it's no trouble for you to come to my palace hovel and pick us up though, it'd be great, assuming all is well. Dd really enjoyed it last time. Can you email me your number so I can let you know? I'll send you my number too. I have a baby seat for ds, but dd's booster is, annoyingly, in someone elses car. Also, do factor in my massive arse, so you might want to reconsider if there really is room

bluebump · 10/04/2009 19:03

Just to let you know the crepe van isn't there any more (it was my mums!) as they have opened the cafe now (not my mum!)

Bugger I didn't realise there was actually going to be a meet up tomorrow so now i'll have missed two! Boo.

piximon · 10/04/2009 19:08

lol LL we have an 8 seater and only 2 dcs this weekend so space is not an issue.

Hope your ds is ok, will email you my number after putting ds3 to bed. Am a bit phone phobic tho so be gentle with me Xmas Blush.

So I know the place, have we agreed a time?

piximon · 10/04/2009 19:09

oops
