HI Maidstone Mums!! Feeling so much better about moving (this Sunday) as there are obviously a load of lovely Mums to meet up with! Thanks for replying!! Age of kids (or mums) doesn't matter at all, just any mummy support would be much appreciated!! So any ideas for a venue and time for meet up, I will be available from 22nd September onwards!

Hi, I'm in Strood, so I could get to Maidstone for a meet up. Although only once my DC1 FINALLY decides to come out, and things have settled down some. My life is currently controlled by the whims of unborn baby.

AnnVan · 08/09/2008 14:33

Wisknit - have they closed the nappucinos in CHatham and Rochester as well, I was going to go to those, but haven't been able to get hold of the organiser.

Wisknit · 08/09/2008 15:20

There never was a Rochester Nappucino but the Chatham one still going strong. It's the 1st monday of the month ( so you've just missed one - the 1st I've made in about 5 months due to pregnancy)
Next one will be the 6th of october.

How about saying either the 25th Sept or the 2nd Oct then? I should (hopefully, all going well, fingers crossed etc) be movinga couple of weeks after that.

AnnVan · 08/09/2008 15:38

Well, I don't think 25th September will work for me as baby is showing absolutely NO SIGN of shifting. But 2nd October MIGHT be ok. So hard to know how I' going to feel after having first baby.

Wisknit · 08/09/2008 15:41

LOL If we say the 25th and arrange stuff baby will show up.
What is your due date?

AnnVan · 08/09/2008 15:45

31st August! Due to be induced on Saturday, but seriously considering putting it off for a week. I'm fed up of pregnancy but I really don't want to be induced!

eandh · 08/09/2008 15:49

I'm in Maidstone (am very good mates with Eddas in real life!!)

I have dd1 who was 4 yesterday and dd2 who is 20months, I'll keep an eye on this thread for meet up time and date

Have they done a sweep? Might get the ball rolling. What is your midwife like? SHe might let you go more than12 days over if you let them moniter.

I went 10 days with my 1st. 1st week was okay, quite liberating having gone past 'The Day' but after that it got boring all these people asking 'have you had it yet?'
No, had the baby, just didn't tell anyone!

AnnVan · 08/09/2008 16:12

Yes, mw did a sweep on Friday, and at that point cervix was shut tight and hard thick etc, so I knew the sweep wouldn't work as she did say they only tend to work if you're already ready. She seems to be ok about going over with monitoring though, she only booked the induction in case I'm so fed up by the end of the week that I just want out. But otherwise I'm free to refuse.
I've had a pretty horrible pregnancy so I just want it over with now! Also from 13th there's lots of birthdays in DPs family, I'm having visions of struggling to find a free day for the birthday party in among all the others for the next 21 years!

Wisknit · 08/09/2008 16:27

Poor you. Might all kick off soon though. I hope it does. Are you going to BF, do you know about the groups in your area?
Tomorrow there is a La Leche League group in Rochester, they welcome expectant mums too. I found it helped to get out and about and just be doing stuff. And the look on peoples' faces when They heard I had gone ove was priceless. One woman said 'you're brave'. Obviously at that stage you are meant to just stay in all day every day!

AnnVan · 08/09/2008 17:03

Ooh - yes am planning to bf, and really hopingthat we manage to get it working properly. I don't know about local groups. Basically, I only moved here in June from London, so plan to find and attend as many groups as possible to try and meet other mums in the area and hopefully make some friends. Where is this La Leche Group, what time and would I just turn up?? I think I need to get out and about - sitting at home just waiting is not fun...

Wisknit · 08/09/2008 18:21

Tomorrow's is at 10-10.30. 20 Ridley road and yes, just turn up. I'm planning on making it tomorrow. If you are driving parking shouldn't be a problem.

The other one close to you is every monday (LLL only twice a month) at the sure start centre in strood. It's called milk and biscuits and is mother led with an attendant peer supporter. Ask your midwife.

Might see you tomorrow then.

AnnVan · 08/09/2008 18:30

Thanks Wisknit - Will have to see how I go, I have terrible insomnia, so We'll have to see if I'm alive at 10 tomorrow am! Hopefully will be in a state to come along.

lblouise · 09/09/2008 17:19

Hi EandH and Eddas, Eddas yes we were talking on another thread, sorry I haven't been on there I am currently up to my ears in boxes and very stressed about moving countries!! Can't wait to meet everyone!!

RGPargy looking forward to comparing notes on dance music!! Having 2 children means I am generally too knackered to be any good on a dance floor anymore but I still listen to my Hed Kandi!!

wisknit - didn't make it to the LLL group today. I had a killer migraine all day I think it's because of the lack of sleep, cause I didn't sleep last night again, I ended up sleeping quite a lot today. Still no sign of baby.

Wisknit · 10/09/2008 07:02

oh no! End of
pregnancy (well, pregnancy full stop) is crap. if you carry on with with migraines - assume you had sickness and visual disturbances too - go to your MW. Don't want to be alarmist be would be best to get it checked out.
Shame you didn't make yesterday but it was quite full.

AnnVan · 10/09/2008 08:07

I do get migraines from time to time. It's onl happened a couple of times since being pregnant though, so I'm not reallly worried about it. it usually does happen if I'm not getting enough sleep. Speaking of which, I'm going to go lie down and try have a nap now!

lblouise · 17/09/2008 18:54

Hello all!! Baby finally arrived on Tuesday morning at 2.42. Baby boy weighing in at 9lb 8oz I knew I had a big baby on the way, but was expecting 8 1/2lb or slightly over not 9 1/2! He was born at Medway hospital - the midwives were brilliant, they talked me out of having an epidural and trying the g&a again, and am so glad they did. Loved the G&A, and breezed through the rest of labour until the end, when he crowned, got his head halfway out, and then tried to go back in because the contraction finished - that REALLY hurt. Also he had meconium in his waters, and didn't breathe after he was born so was all blue and floppy, but the doctors were great and he is fine now.

lardybump · 20/09/2008 14:03

I am also in Maidstone and would love to meet up with some other mums.

lardybump · 20/09/2008 14:04
