janx - Clissold would be good. I'm not entirely sure how to get to springfield by bus I've only ever walked by the river - would you know if that's the easiest way?
Hello and welcome to bumptobabies!

janx · 06/06/2005 14:11

Hi Zammo
I think you can get a 253/4 along upper clapton road and walk up springfield road or you could park (I think), but if Clissold is better -give me a call

outtolunch · 06/06/2005 14:36

Hi girls,

Hope you don't mind me joining this thread to ask you about Stokey. We currently live in Islington but need to move to a bigger place and I just wonderd if Stoke Newington is a good place for families (we have one ds 14 months and I am 3 months pregnant again). Would really like to hear your opinion! Thx

gossifer · 08/06/2005 11:41

dear booklover, where to begin? stokey is well known as being a place where people with families move to to buy a house because its slightly more affordable than other areas - the reason is transport - no tube, that is the only downside (if you see that as a downside) there are good buses/trains into central london and the city and highbury & islington tube; stokey is very child orientated with some good schools, a fantastic park (clissold) for people of all ages, a growing farmers market, ridley road market (15min walk) for good cheap fruit and veg and a feel of the caribbean; a lot of stokey is afro-caribbean/turkish so along with the myriad of other eateries there is wonderful cheap places to go out and eat; loads of child friendly cafes and pubs with gardens; theres are yoga centres which incorporate pre-natal yoga and things like baby massage and rucksack music abound; lots of ofsted rated nurseries of all persuasions; i tend to walk pretty much everywhere and absolutely love it! please ask any questions you want, or come and meet us at the cafe in clissold park for a coffee?

gossifer · 08/06/2005 11:44

janx, thanks! lets arrange a meet at the farm then, i don't even know where it is?

zammo · 08/06/2005 13:30

Think janx summed up Stoke Newington brilliantly!. I would just add that it has a great cinema, the Rio, which has babies and parents screenings on tuesdays and thursdays...
gossifer - the teething still continues on and off, hopefully it will ease up soon.
Hope you are feeling better. The farm is on Hackney road - if I don't make the next meetup I'd love to go there at some point. I hope they have pigs - pigs are great!

zammo · 08/06/2005 13:32

Sorry - think 'gossifer' summed up Stokey brilliantly...
I am unable to read properly today!
