I did race for life in Edinburgh last year and my one piece of advice to you is save your energy and WALK UP THE HILL. There is no shame in it, I ran up the hill and nearly fainted at the top. Then you will have the energy to bomb down the hill on the other side.

aGalChangedHerName · 24/04/2008 18:07

If i ever get to my target weight (hahahah) maybe my fitness will improve? Maybe that would give me an incentive. Although i am not sure my pelvic floor would survive a run!!

Lilliput · 24/04/2008 18:13

aGal, I have to hold on to my crotch when I go on the trampoline with the kids

aGalChangedHerName · 24/04/2008 18:15

Lilliput i wouldn't go on the trampoline lol

That's what i get for having 4 dc i suppose!!

nailpolish · 24/04/2008 19:23

omg nippersnapper good for you!
i shall feel guilty supping my wine in harvey nicks now whilst you are doing that

I am doing Race For Life on 8th June and thought that my DTS could join me.
No way - they muttered things like "Only under the cover of darkness" and " That is sooo cheesy"
Looks like its me on my own then and I will prob be doin more walking than running

nippersnappers · 24/04/2008 20:18

I'm looking forward to it really.

I used to be a fair athlete at school but that was 107 years ago, (feels like).

I really should start looking for my sponser form though, I've a feeling I left it somewhere safe, like everything else in my house

I was supposed to go running tonight, but I kind of thought..............NAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.

mybabysinthegarden · 25/04/2008 12:43

Can I come? I would've loved to have come to the boozy meet-up but not really a goer since I'm gestating. Lunch however, is allowed!

nailpolish · 25/04/2008 12:47

goodness, of course you can come! is june 1st ok for you?

OP posts:
nippersnappers · 25/04/2008 13:49

Are you all going to come along to the park to laugh and point at me as I collapse in a big sweaty heap, after you have all lunched?

If you are can somebody bring me a doggy bag please

beansmum · 25/04/2008 13:54

oh poo. I can't come on 1st, it's ds's birthday (which I mentioned a bit further down the thread, you obviously don't want me there)

heididrink · 25/04/2008 14:25

Beansmum -its cos you smell of wee

beansmum · 25/04/2008 14:30

I have washed now.

aGalChangedHerName · 25/04/2008 18:08

Wee bump for everyone else?

Is the 1st a possible date?

mawbroon · 25/04/2008 18:52

Hey, congratulations mybabyisinthegarden. When are you due?

1st June is ok for me so far...

Lilliput · 25/04/2008 19:40

I'm not sure yet about 1st, partly because dh's birthday is the 2nd and our wedding anniversary is the 3rd so I might be a bit stoney broke.
After all my angst earlier in the week you'll all be glad to hear that I got offered a place at University of West of Scotland to do Midwifery, hooray!!!!It is not until Sept 09 so I've got lots of time (probably too much) to get organised and my head around going back to uni. Lots to think about though, I sense big chats with dh coming up .

aGalChangedHerName · 25/04/2008 20:10

Oh wow Lilliput thats fantastic!!!!

You will be a fantastic MW. Will DH not be happy about your news? I am sure you can talk him round

aGalChangedHerName · 25/04/2008 20:12

Forgot to say,i hope you can come but i know what being skint is like

We will be meeting up in July/August too i think(i forget when the festival starts)so you could start saving now!!

Thats my plan anyway.

liath · 26/04/2008 07:50

That's great news, lilliput!

The 1st looks Ok at the moment for me too.

gomez · 26/04/2008 12:17

Ah, Lilliput well done you!

[Says the woman currently denying the fact that her exams start in eh 3 weeks and pretending to work whilst MN....]

1st June should be fine for me lunch, DH currently away swimming with sprogs whilst I pretend study but will we get booked can be v. busy at weekends?

Good to have you back PB, pleased you had a nice time - will email you soon. Your last idea was a good one BTW.

Preuming of course I am allowed.....

aGalChangedHerName · 26/04/2008 12:20

Oh good most of us can make it then.

Btw Gomez apologies for when you went to meet up with your other friends if i went on a bit about you going.

My only excuse is i was quite enjoying you being there and i was pissed as a fart

I won't be drunk next time (well not as drunk)

mawbroon · 26/04/2008 12:25

Well done Lilliput. Sept 09 probably seems like a long way off, but it will be here before we know it!

We have four of dh's colleagues coming for dinner tonight. I have started cooking already and I get the feeling that I will be cooking all day! There's only 6 to cook for, but it seems like I am cooking for 16! Hope there are lots of leftovers

gomez · 26/04/2008 12:28

Well see no need to apologise as I have no recollection of anybody going on

And I am sorry if I offended anyone by leaving - it is quite normal and common behaviour in my gang/bunch of friends we all pop in and out of get-togethers and join in with various different groups of an evening. I should have of course thought that others do things differently - I stupidly perhaps apply the maxim that if I wouldn't bother me then it won't bother anyone else, forgetting that I have the skin of a rhino (as well as the arse)and the tact of Prince Phillip so when combined with 3 bottles of rijoa disaster may very well ensue.

I promise to stay until the bitter end, a committment you may all regret

aGalChangedHerName · 26/04/2008 12:29

Oh god MB that would be my idea of hell!!

I would probably have to order in take away lol

I have mountains of washing to do,loads of housework and dh working all weekend so i shall be busy.

aGalChangedHerName · 26/04/2008 12:31

Oh bugger if you have no recollection i could have kept my big gob shut lol

I don't get out much so i have no idea of what the done thing is anyhow.

So do you think we should book then Gomez?
