thought I'd start a new thread for those of us meeting up at Dynamic Earth at 12pm on Thursday 21st February - as the last heading was rather "vague" to say the very least

So far we have got

Cali + 2 children
FAQ + 3 (eeek!) children

Probables/possibles

Motherhurdicure + 3 children
Mawbroon + 1 child
Liath + 2 children
2happy + 2? children

i get the night bus all the time. its perfectly safe.

FAQ · 19/02/2008 12:26

I had thought of the bus back....but wasn't really sure about it late at night. Buses that come very close to DB's flat are 3,8, and 29. And then the Royal Infirmary is within fairly close walking distance (abouy 7/8 minutes walk) so any of those buses too.....

TBH the "scariest" bit round here for me is once you're inside the blocks of flats. Hate walking along those corridors and standing out in the stairwell for a rollie is postively terrifying LOL.

It would save me quite a bit though wouldn't it....

anyhow - shall continue discussing this later - DS1 and 2 are now bugging at me to get going - I can see the sun peaking through and they want to leave NOW (well actually about 1/2hr ago LOL).

FAQ I can give you a lift home on Friday. Can probably give you a lift there too! You can decide tomorrow once you've met me if you want to take the risk

FAQ · 19/02/2008 18:32

really - oh that's very kind of you

OP posts:
mawbroon · 19/02/2008 18:39

LOL, you've not seen my driving FAQ!!

I have a feeling that I must know you btw. I remember you and expat talking on here about Sandy Bells and the Royal Oak etc. I hung out there playing the fiddle for quite a few years, I am bound to have met you!

I guess I will just have to wait and see.......

ShinyDysonHereICome · 19/02/2008 18:46

Slight hijack- sorry

FAQ I posted for you earlier and asked MNHQ to pass an email on to you for me

Karen999 · 19/02/2008 18:53

Ooh MawBroon....did you play the fiddle as part of a group??

FAQ · 19/02/2008 19:43

Sandy Bells and the Royal Oak....ermm don't that was me and expat...however if you've been involved in music of any kind in Edinburgh then there's a chance we may have met before! (you didn't know an Alistair Edwards ever did you......)

Thanks Shiny

mawbroon · 19/02/2008 21:18

Oh right, was sure it was you, oh well, never mind.

Karen999 yes, I was in various ceilidh bands and gigged round all the Irish pubs when they were all the range in the 90s.

Karen999 · 19/02/2008 21:22

I only ask cos a guy I worked with for quite a few years was in a Ceilidh band - cant remember the name but I am sure they played at those places.....they were actually very very good!

mawbroon · 19/02/2008 21:31

What did he play? Obviously I would ask his name, but you probably don't want to put it on the www...

Karen999 · 19/02/2008 21:32

Well I could post his initials....nobody will know anyway and tbh I dont think he would mind....initials are JA...

mawbroon · 19/02/2008 21:35

Can't think of anyone off the top of my head with those initials, but that's not to say I don't know him. What did he play?

Karen999 · 19/02/2008 21:39

He played a few things, certainly the guitar..he was actually also the 'caller'....does that make sense? He basically told everyone what to do when everyone was going the wrong way!!! Wish I could remember the bands name....will maybe google him to see if I can find out...

weeonion · 19/02/2008 21:41

oh pants! i will miss this one as docs appt. maybe next time??

mawbroon · 19/02/2008 21:41

yes, I know what the caller does. Well, you can tell me on Friday!

mawbroon · 19/02/2008 21:43

Cancel the doc weeonion!!!

Karen999 · 19/02/2008 21:44

ooh, ooh, think I remember it now....they are called Crowdie House!

mawbroon · 19/02/2008 21:49

Oh aye, yes, I have heard of them. I always find those type of band names very amusing. The other one I like is Ceilidh Minogue

Karen999 · 19/02/2008 21:51

Oh, that is a good one!!

nippersnappers · 19/02/2008 21:51

Bugger,
I would love to come along and meet you all, but unfortunately I have to work this Thursday.
I've been trying to get to Dynamic Earth for ages too.

Karen999 · 19/02/2008 21:53

Come along on Friday night then....a few of us are meeting up for a few glasses of vino!!

Btw, is it not a nightmare trying to get anywhere near Dynamic Earth just now? Aren't there some roads closed at the minute?

nippersnappers · 19/02/2008 21:56

Horse Wynd is shut right now but everything else has reopened.

FAQ · 19/02/2008 22:30

I'll be winding my way down the Royal Mile on foot after "showing" the DS's the castle before hand LOL - so no too bothered about raods closed
