swiperfox · 17/07/2005 22:48

I'll have to ask!! My mum's best mate has just turned 40 too and went to Bulmershe so she'll probably know your uncle Kevin - her other friend lived in Bruce Road and is 35 ish so she might know them too!

My Mum used to drink in the chequers when i was at school so i bet they all know the same crowd!!

How mad!?!

Will ask her tomorrow

suddensingledad · 17/07/2005 23:39

Swiperfox,
I know Anna Hardy, she works at the Civic in Reading as a nuisance officer, she's pretty cool. Worked with her a few times. Gee, you mention Lower Earley.... anyone go to Hugh Farringdon in the 80's? The only part of Woodley I know is The Thatchers, excellent pub if you can't off-load the children.

HellyBelly · 18/07/2005 12:38

This thread is getting a bit mad!!!

I recognise a few of these names but not sure where from??? I used to hang around Weeble Park too!!! My ex boyfriend's parents lived near it on a road off Howth Drive - remember we went there one night (in the dark, you know... ) but it was freezing cold and we couldn't be bothered. Anyway, put me off with all the windows overlooking the park!!!

vickiyumyum · 18/07/2005 17:04

hellybelly at you in the park

the thatchers is quite a good pub especially in the summer in the garden and we sometimes go for a walk around the lake.

its about the only time i see my brother, as he spends most of his free time in there with his mates! oh the joys of being 21 and single!

HellyBelly · 18/07/2005 19:17

I used to hang out at the Thatchers all the time when I was around 17/18. Also used to fish round the lake (only female with a permit at the time!!)

Shame about the fire at the Thatchers but it's turned into a nice family pub hasn't it! We (me and ds)were actually at the lake yesterday, feeding the ducks and then at the park.

Funny how many people on mumsnet know these places!

at weeble park!!!

nannyjo · 18/07/2005 20:55

SSD my mums friend was a teacher there late 80's.

Anne Hardy, is her full name angharod???
