Ta daaaa.
Welcome to our new home .

Great news! DH has got the flat. So, it's now a possibility that we could meet up in that area first, if we wanted to save a few quid on expensive wine bars (having first met up in, ahem, an expensive wine bar!)

OTH, two of my favourite wine bars in London are close to the theatre....

EyeOfNewtAndToeOfoggsFrog · 30/10/2007 09:54

Well, I really don't do dressing up. When I went in August I wore a navyish blue linen (quirky not smart/posh) dress and my dr martin shoes.
Don't actually know what I'll wear in Jan.
In fact I'm beginning to worry now as the only coats/jackets I have are fleece or waterproof.
There's not much call up here for 'posh'...the sheep really aren't that fussy. The only time dh and I actually go out is when we take dd to one of the parties in the village hall. I've never seen anyone in anything other than trousers and flatties. You're lucky if the men have changed out of their overalls .

EyeOfNewtAndToeOfoggsFrog · 30/10/2007 09:58

Great news Zeb

Zebedeedoodah · 30/10/2007 10:01

Oggs, the only coats I've got are filthy and/or ripped old Barbours. Oh, and a couple of moth-eaten winter coats from the 'old days' when I used to be smart. I think they call it 'shabby chic' don't they?

EyeOfNewtAndToeOfoggsFrog · 30/10/2007 10:12

I'm just a little worried that you'll all be very smart and I will be turned away from any wine bar for the equivalent of not wearing a tie .
I bet you all wear make-up, nail varnish and tights too don't you, like proper grown ups?

MrsSeanSlater · 30/10/2007 11:21

Lipstick, yes, nail varnish on toes only and tights once in a blue moon.
Don't worry oggs, your dress and DMs combo sounds good. The rest of us won't be in ballgowns and tiaras

Berrie · 30/10/2007 11:23

Only on Christmas day Oggs!

Berrie · 30/10/2007 11:25

Why do you think I am haunted by Lyra's boots. She has given me a glimpse of long gone dressing up and frankly...I am jealous!

Berrie · 30/10/2007 11:26

BTW...I'm still the fattest Do they turn people away for that?

Berrie · 30/10/2007 11:31

I start work tomorrow. I am really nervous.
I bought myself some new stationary for the job to help me feel more professional and organised, folders, pads, plastic wallets etc.
DD has just drawn all over my lever arch file...

EyeOfNewtAndToeOfoggsFrog · 30/10/2007 11:37

Remind me again what you'll be doing. All I can dredge up from the depths of my memory is something to do with teaching and a frazzle shirt
Is it from home or do you have to go somewhere? Full/part time?
What hours? Won't you be on here in the day anymore?

Where is that Binkle?

binkleandflip · 30/10/2007 11:42

Hello! Hello! Sorry, I've been up at the lakes for two days - we took the dog to a dog-friendly hotel which was hilarious to say the least as I think they were expecting perhaps a yorkshire terrier or similiar

Anyway I've not read thread yet so will have a scan

binkleandflip · 30/10/2007 11:46

Done a quick scan...I'm SO SORRY I didnt realise you were all waiting for me!!

Have we booked yet or should I do it today? (promise I actually will and not disapear again !)

Am happy to go along with whatever but I am already there on 26th (which is only Lewis anyway)

Berrie · 30/10/2007 11:46

Tutoring. I only have 2 sessions at the moment. One at school at 3.15pm tomorrow and one at the child's home at 5pm. They are 10 and I'm teaching them maths.
I'm glad now that it is only 2 as I've had to do so much work to prepare and this is impossible with the children!

Berrie · 30/10/2007 11:47

Binkle I was about to check down the thread to see if we'd offended you somehow!

binkleandflip · 30/10/2007 11:53

No I've been missing you all but I knew I'd get a right earful if I cranked up the laptop in the peace and tranquility of our 'family time' in Grasmere , particularly as I'd banned dh from taking his assorted gadgetry

binkleandflip · 30/10/2007 11:55

Today is a bit disasterous so far - I've only gone and left my cashcard in the machine and it has been destroyed

At least I'd got my money out first phew!

EyeOfNewtAndToeOfoggsFrog · 30/10/2007 11:59

Binkle, we were waiting to see if you were okay with an evening performance on Wed 30th Upper Circle, Row C, Seats 18-22.
The tickets are still available through SEE (no booking fee).
How would you be geting down? Would you be staying over? Would you need a hotel? (I seem to remember you saying you had a relative down there?)

Berrie · 30/10/2007 11:59

Oh dear !

EyeOfNewtAndToeOfoggsFrog · 30/10/2007 12:00

[sorry] blush, ppor you Binkle

EyeOfNewtAndToeOfoggsFrog · 30/10/2007 12:02

sorry, , poor you.

MrsSeanSlater · 30/10/2007 12:41

So that's all of us in favour of the evening show, Jan 30? Right, we need to book.
I've just checked my credit card account online and I don't have enough credit left (the money for those damn boots has been charged already, despite the fact that I won't get them for 4-6 weeks ). Can anyone else do it?

Berrie · 30/10/2007 12:54

Has Binkle said yes?

Sorry, don't have a credit sard and current account can't take it I'm afraid

Berrie · 30/10/2007 12:55

Lyra, they probably needed the money to pay someone to kill the cow and then handstitch them for you

Zebedeedoodah · 30/10/2007 13:01

Bad luck Binkle. But at least you got the cash.
What did the hotel say when you turned up with your 'cute little terrier'?
