cov - poor you! Hope the swelling goes down soon. Also much respect on the cooking front, I pretty much cook from scratch everyday but don't do nearly as much as you and I always need to refer to a cook book!

stella - I would probably tell the school about it, just in case he is some sort of nutter and if he is not at least he will learn that this sort of behaviour is not a good thing.

Foxie - good for you, glad to hear a case where the legislation actually works rather than ones where the boss chooses to ignore its existence!

StellaPolaris · 11/09/2007 22:54

Yingers You are right, I shall tell the school tomorrow.

COV. I totally sympathise for that terrifying insect experience. How awful for you. However I am slightly worried that you felt the need to hang the washing you did not put into the machine on the line....

Or was it the next load?

Muuaahhhaaa!
Sorry I could not resist. Bad sense of humour....

Hello sfx.

MrsR,

My sympathies. I only have dd and dh is able to stay home when I have to run to, yet, another meeting. Hopefully things will calm down in the next couple of weeks.

Luckily the contract finishes at the end of November. Otherwise, I would burn out.

Are you in a permanent role?

QC,
I like all your recipes: haddock, bread, and warm bread.

sfxmum · 12/09/2007 07:43

good morning all

cov ouch ouch and ouch, hope it is better now

mellow - the world of contract work, dh has periods like that, although his current one seems almost like a permanent post, not many days with crazy hrs.

hope everyone else is ok too, hope newbies make it to meet ups be nice to see all.

am off to local friendly dentist this morning, should be fun with snoty bit poorly toddler in toe.

SushiMummy · 12/09/2007 08:38

Morning all.

CoV, oh no! That sounds horrible! Hope the pain and swelling go quickly.

My mum is arriving from Japan today, am really excited!

Hope everyone is well.

Kewcumber · 12/09/2007 09:34

how exciting Sushi - are you going to subject her to any of us?! Aren;t you off on holiday together?

OP posts:
SushiMummy · 12/09/2007 09:44

QC, we are off to Inverness on 19 Sept for two weeks (well the last part will be in Prestwick/Bury). If any meet-ups come up before and after (has to be weekends as I used up my holiday already!), I'd bring my mum around. She's a very sociable person (but speaks no English!) and loves kids (ex-primary teacher). She loves dancing, golfing and people watching.

ComeOVeneer · 12/09/2007 10:07

Morning all. Well I was up most of the night in pain, I am totally blocked up in the right side of my nose/sinus pain etc (I assume it is all linked) and quite frankly feeling very sorry for myself. Unfortunately today isn't a day that ds goes to nursery and dh is working late again tonight.

Sushi hope you have a lovely time with your mum

foxcub · 12/09/2007 11:18

CoV - you poor thing - what a nightmare!! Can you maybe pop into the GP today and get them to check your ear again? Hope its Ok

Stella - I would agree about informing the school - they need to be able to warn parents and children about any creeps hanging around the school.

Kew - had a diplomatic incident this morning with the Polish chappies but its all sorted now

Hi everyone else [waves]

mellow2 · 12/09/2007 11:30

Sushi,
How nice for you to have your mom visiting.

I would love to meet your mom at a meet up.

Kewcumber · 12/09/2007 11:52

oh dear Cov sounds annoying - could you take some over the counter piriton? Its what my GP recommended when I had a nasty insect bite and it did work.

Sushi - my DS doesn't speak English either so they should get on just fine! And obviously my fluent Japanese will help

OP posts:
Kewcumber · 12/09/2007 11:52

if the weather holds will probably aim for a trip to Kew gardens on Sunday.

MrsRecycle · 12/09/2007 12:07

Mellow - its a contract and finishes in 2 weeks but, mad woman that I am, I've agreed to stay here as long as they want me so will renew. But I want to make a difference and I am doing so in the short time I've been here. Also, the day goes so quick - it's lunchtime and I haven't even had my morning coffee yet.

SushiMummy · 12/09/2007 12:59

QC, do let me know when you decide to go to KG this Sunday! Would love to meet-up as I haven't seen you and anyone else for ages! Yes, your fluent Japanese will come in v useful.

Kewcumber · 12/09/2007 14:23

Sushi - provided the weather is Ok I will probably go at about 10.30 on Sunday and take him on the little train (first one is 11am and takes about 45 mins I think). He loved the llittle trains on holidays so much, I really want to take him again.

OP posts:
SushiMummy · 12/09/2007 14:33

Little trains in KG? Wow, my DS would love that (but where are they?). We aim there at the same time, then. Hope the weather will hold.

Kewcumber · 12/09/2007 14:36

they have a little pretend train (really a van with carriages) that goes round the park - quite a nice way for adults to see all around the park without walking. I think it costs £2.50 and leaves from Victoria Gate at 11am then every half hour (I think). Can't beleive you haven;t seen it.

It doesn't look like a proper train but sort of feels like one IYKWIM.

OP posts:
Kewcumber · 12/09/2007 14:38

blimey has gone up to £3.50

OP posts:
SushiMummy · 12/09/2007 14:42

Oh that![doh emoticon] Well, DS loves it and calls it 'train'.

sfxmum · 12/09/2007 15:37

hello everyone

cov hope you are feeling better it sounds really awful.

sushi - how lovely to have your mum visiting.

I have spent the day at Kew, really strong sun today. dd has been milking her illness big time, somehow we got home with a watering can and a windmill, I drew the line at ice cream and an elephant she wanted.

I would love a good night sleep, anyone know where I can get one of those?

foxcub · 12/09/2007 16:40

sfx - I'm glad she likes "elephants" - that means she must like moi!

Kew I'd like to meet up in KG on Sun too Maybe niot 10.30 - but could link up after mass about 11am

Kewcumber · 12/09/2007 16:55

I really want to catch the 11am train and now that its "winter" there's only one an hour - it runs until 11.40 and returns the Vicky Gate so we could meet at 11.40 at V Gate, I'll feed DS there and go home for nap after lunch. (Me not him )

Would that suit?

OP posts:
foxcub · 12/09/2007 21:11

OMG - are you asking me to agree to meet you at a specific time?

Your confusing me with someone who has some element of control over her life!!

Have you got a new moby number yet? That might solve it..

BTW am in lurve with the Poles again

foxcub · 12/09/2007 21:12

"you're" of course not "your"

foxcub · 12/09/2007 21:15

WTF is everyone anyway?

A nasty cyclist nearly ran over DD today - he went through a red light very fast and we were crossing the road . I shouted at him!

Young men should be banned from owning bicycles until they learn to ride them responsibly

[grumpy old woman emoticon]!!!

BTW she had a fab first day at school and looked so beautiful in her uniform - looked as though she was going for a job interview.
